If you believe that then why did you state that it was a derivative? (it's not as dream pop existed at least in the early-mid 80s before the term shoegazer was created, as a derogatory term, for certain bands later on in the very late 80s but especially early 90s. If anything, you could say that shoegaze is a derivative or dream pop)
