recs for a relatively inexpensive military style boot i can get in aus? Looking to buy some for bfs xmas present but i'm a bit out of the effay loop so i don't know where to look asides from local milsurp and camping shops

The ones in that particular shoot are Rick cutout dunks. Impossible to find, insanely expensive if you do, and only made in women's sizes. Really awesome shoes, though.

Don't know what milsurp prices are like over there, but I can get a pair of used boots at my milsurp stores for 30-40 USD. Definitely worth checking out. Or look at Palladium boots. Tons of choices there.

those tactical pants i got felt pretty big, I thought i lost weight because they were labeled 28", but when i measured them they were 32!

I would lose the bag but if you need it, its not bad. belt is not necessary but go sleek and minimal with minimal contrast if you get one.

Top half looks cool! Would love to see some grey cargos and proper boots with that. Would not recommend desert boots, especially if you're going for lunar stuff, but then again I am biased against them in any situation.

i think going monotone on the pants/shoes could look pretty interesting, if you're going with that tapering at the hem. it would kind of look like one continuous appendage. hard to pull off with runners though, since they dont have the elongated profile a boot gives with the elevated heel

I generally try to be symmetrical up until the ankle/calf region. Everything above that kinda looks like a weird lumpy mess that I'm not really happy with. One thigh is way smaller than the other, and the knee is very strangely shaped since it's not a stump but rather my foot on backwards acting as a knee. I don't really fill out pants. It sucks, and kind of eats at my confidence if I'm honest.

Damn, didn't realize that when I first started looking at them. Luckily the sizes go high enough that I should be able to fit in them if I decide to cop.

i got burned a few times buying from some korean (i think) website with those black mannequins lol, how do aliexpress items hold up to the images?

the real items tended to not look as structured and the texture was terrible..this jacket has some fill i'm guessing but there are oddly few seams so i have no idea how they filled it

I have these in all black. I have many palladium boots in the same size but these are tighter and my toe falls asleep and is always in extreme pain. I thought I just needed to break them in but nothing has helped. I recommend going a size up or just avoiding them tbqh. Unfortunate because they look great and I live in a very rainy city.

Are there any rugged alternatives to the Palladium boots? I've heard that the Palladiums are all show and no go and I'm pretty fucking rough on my shoes.

imo, palladiums (which can be frequently copped on sale) are sort of disposable, like chucks or vans. i have one of their more expensive models, msrp like +$150 and i would never pay that much for it...i think i got it for like $60. pretty happy with it at that price point.

the cheaper models, like the pampa hi, are durable enough for the price i usually get them at

not bad. needs to break in the jacket so the padding isn't as bushy or just remove some of the padding. Also unzip it wearing a sweater under it with an interesting texture.

Why are you biased against desert boots?

not op but desert boots are basic and played out. they're also painfully boring

but more importantly they dont fit with lunarcore. desert boots are a bit of a misnomer - they aren't designed for a desert or harsh environment, so don't get the impression that they have a historical or aesthetic connection to moon boots.

their shape as an ankle boot is awkward, since most space boots tend to completely extend above the ankle. conceptually, i guess that has a functional reason but im not an astronaut or a martian so thats just my take on it

materials wise, the crepe sole was popular with them because it was cheap and comfortable. but it's not durable and it's not protective, which are design considerations common to many lunarcore boots. leather is okay...just a bit too plain. the closure system is simple and lacks buckles and zippers and all that

but yeah desert boots are for uninspired planetary beatniks and buzzfeed fashion readers

I've never seen a fit with a pair of desert boots and thought "Damn, those desert boots really brought the whole thing together." They're an awkward, boring design and crepe soles look lame and flimsy to me. There are just so many better boots out there. Also it might also be the fact half the dudes in my office wear them and they're all cookie cutter GQ style 101 guys, so I almost immediately associate desert boots with gingham shirts, cuffed jeans/chinos, and the 'ol undercut + full beard combo.

Before I start some shit - that whole look is totally fine. It's just boring to me.
