Blackjack/Casino games general

So I didn't really know where else to post this. If it's against the rules (I don't think it is since it pertains to personal finance) mods feel through to delete it or w/e, but:

Blackjack general. Anyone have any experience with this shit? I've just started playing seriously about a week and a half ago but I'm starting to wonder if there's any way to win money from this if you're pretty much always at a disadvantage against the house.

Any stories?

I'm sure at least one of you fuckers has tried to make money from this shit at some point in your life.

>I've just started playing seriously
Get out while you still can, retard.

Go on?

I only play on rare occasion, but last time I did I started with $40 and walked away with $300.

Buy one of those strategy cards so you can learn what different hands are worth. You can even buy them inside many casinos. Learn about the mechanics like splitting, then read about different strategies. This game comes down to bankroll management and judgement (like knowing when to quit).

Ever tried card counting?

Yea, my buddy and I did it with the simplest method (assigning cards +1, 0, or -1) and keeping track within a couple of points. We weren't perfect autists, but we were good enough to tell when the card counting was way above zero or way below zero and whether to stay or sit out. Don't bother with it though, because you'll prioritize the method over your judgement and will bust. It's not worth the trouble to count a 7 deck shoe. Just have fun and no when to quit.
>I've just started playing seriously
Stop that thinking. If you were talking poker, maybe. But don't take gambling seriously.

>Stop that thinking. If you were talking poker, maybe. But don't take gambling seriously.

Is it just too risky to actually invest a lot of time in?

Why would Poker be better?

I downloaded an app of blackjack then I learned those infographic charts in the internet. Double my bet until 8 sometimes 16, I did pretty well in the app is slow but I did 1000 dollars in a day of course it wasnt real money but the strategy worked.

Sadly the u.s is a bitch with casinos online and I don't trust bitcoin casinos, to change bitcoins the rates are expensive. Forget about it op you can find a lot of reviews even in the "best" casinos onlune

I don't trust anything that isn't live play. Unless you want to feed on some rich noobs at the reckless novice tables.

Because poker takes skill. You can take the best poker player in the world and put him against a novice and he will always win in the long run. That's not true for a game of chance like blackjack.

If you put the best Blackjack player in the world against your average dealer with a reasonable bankroll, you seriously think he wouldn't walk out with a fuckload more money than a novice put in the same situation?

Still, I see your point; poker is obviously more skill based. I just think that blackjack can be effective as well if you're experienced enough at it.

He could bust every time. Nobody can predict the cards.

He would manage his bankroll better than the novice though.

There is no "best blackjack player in the world". The house ALWAYS wins. ALWAYS. Literally cold hard maths. Stop being a retard who thinks he is a special little snowflake.

You can beat the house edge, nigger.

No you cant. I dont need flags on this board to know you are American.

Wrong and wrong.

Maybe you should leave the thread, since you clearly have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

Inb4 'are u le kidding me xd', look this shit up if you don't believe me. I didn't say it was a common occurrence since most casinos aren't as retarded as you, but there are a small number which, when a player combines their knowledge of card counting/basic strategy, have a house edge low enough that you can actually push it in your favour. It isn't easy, but it's possible.

Not that you know any of this.

Ok pal. This thread might even be alive when you go bankrupt.

It might even survive long enough for you to gain a basic knowledge of its subject!

You can get a guaranteed profit with sports betting.

Please explain to me how in the long run you win with a less than 50% chance of winning?
I bet you also try to day trade too, huh?

You aren't going to win at dinky stakes blackjack, it's extremely rare for a casino to be dealing small limit single deck blackjack, and with multiple decks you can't beat the edge effectively. If you want to learn about ways to beat the casino read about Phil Iveys recent angleshooting in baccarat (he won something like $15m). He made an agreement with the casino that he would commit to putting a certain amount of money on the table and gambling for a certain amount of time (millions of dollars and multiple days), but he made a handful of demands that he knew would give him enough of an edge to win (you can read the details, it was extremely clever). Even then, let's say you get to the point where you have a 52% edge in a house game, that doesn't mean every time you go into the casino with $10k you make 200 bucks, you need to be bankrolled for 60-100x the stake you are playing to be safe and play a ton.

Poker is in no way comparable to a house game, you are playing against other players. You will never be a successful poker player if the only reason you play is just to make money, you really have to love playing. I played as an online pro for years but got burnt out, it's not easy money, and the game has just gotten harder and harder.

kek, all he did was get a non english dealer and edge sort.

Does anyone play online poker at sites like pokerstars etc.? If yes, can you tell me if you can still find fishes nowadays at micro levels?

Did you even read the post, you stupid fuck?

>walk into casino with $60
>sit down at blackjack table
>ohshitwhatareyoudoingnigger.jpg
>first time playing against noncomputer
>shit is fucking easy
>never bust and win every hand
>walk away with $1600

I'm pretty sure they thought I was card counting, but I wasn't. Although, I do admittedly have an incredibly high inclination to count things like an autist.

Hey buddy different user.

there was a time when this was possible, when casinos used 1 deck for dealing OR dealt to the bottom of a six deck shoe.

Nowadays (post the MIT team that steamrolled Vegas - the story that the movie "21" is based on) casinos only deal maybe 2-3 hands before putting dealt cards back in the shoe.

What this means is that a card counter can no longer get a running count of more/less "high" cards left in the deck (10's Queens, Kings, Jacks).

Therefore, without this edge, the House edge is your mathematical outcome, ie 5% will always drop to the house.

TLDR: you used to be able to make $ from Blackjack, now, every $100 you gamble will get you $95 back.

Just light $5 on fire in the smoking area and walk out user.

P.S. Poker is viable but like business, only 5% or less of players actually make money in the long term.

holy shit how are people this retarded

>math is wrong

Most of this advice is correct (6+ deck shoes are no more difficult to count than 1 (unless you can't divide). There are LITERALLY less than 1000 people in the US who make an income solely from blackjack. This is due to the insane ammount of time you will spend learning an advanced counting method (Hi-Lo + indices will BARELY cut it, and that's one of the most basic).

If you do decide to get into it, you should honestly spend most of your time on a blackjack sim, and rarely go to the casinos until you've put in some SERIOUS hours on the sim. Even then, you'll probably lose money in the long run simply due to human error. Blackjack is an incredibly boring game when you're counting, and counting is an instant ban from a casino if they suspect.

Poker is a great suggestion. Poker is something that you can consistently make money on with skill alone. If you're great at poker, the casino doesn't care because they get paid via rake regardless. If you're great at blackjack, you'll have to spend your time playing "for fucks sake I hope they don't notice how much I've won".

House always wins. The more you play the more you will lose. Get out now.

Only worthwhile pursuit in this vein is poker.
