as an artist i always check if there is a quick way i can do things, because when working on art you want time vs. output.
for this particular case i would simply do limbs as different layers,adding bones and such. really far as art goes you should do learning as much as you do art itself. because you not only want to make a game but also want to steamline the process of animating

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind. I want to avoid bones though, really want to have the traditional style of animating at the very least, but I'll keep looking to see where I can speed things up. I know for a fact the next character will go by quicker because I'm learning a lot now with the current character.

I've used similar things before and they're awful. The visual state machine on that seems useful, the "do things without coding" is bad. You have to learn so much of the systems nuances that you could have learned programming by the time you know what the hell you're doing.

when I was doing a roguelike 5 years ago I wrote my own custom string format and parser like printf() kind of, which would let me insert variables and color substrings using % special characters

Anyone have any thoughts on the lower left rotation arrows? I think they look alright-ish, given that you use the numpad for rotation anyway and the GUI's only real purpose is for lazy cunts that don't feel like learning the keybinds for all the functions.

Never thought of using the mouse, given thats for camera movement, but we are turning the builder to be as much like a custom-model maker as possible.

The tubeframe you see is going to have armored panels over them Soon(tm), so you can make whatever the hell you like. As far as we can tell currently, there isn't really a reason to go too far off the snap grid. We do of course allow very small degree adjustments by holding down the ALT key, which in turn allows you to go off-grid snap however you like.
