How did you guys market your initial offering, and how did you build your clientele and traffic to where it is today?
Even if you haven't had sufficient experience and are interested in running an online business, how would you market and sell your desired goods/ services from day 1?
I used Instagram to get a majority of my first 1000 sales, I did this in less than 7 weeks. After this I had moved to Facebook , intergrating Instagram posts , as well as a bi monthly discount post .
It has slowed down, but I get 10-14 sales min per day . I sell coffee and homeware goods
Anthony Lopez
How did you structure these posts?
Kevin Lee
Hire him as a consultant to do it for you.
Sebastian Wilson
Except you don't really have an online business
Juan Sanders
Hire a consultant from Veeky Forums ...what could possibly go wrong ?
Ryder Sanders
Think what you want , I'll sit here somewhat happy with my progress which started as a project over a few beers, while you sit in an isolated basement waiting for your next welfare payment to spend on anime and porn ..
Consultation is something I'd never really thought of, I don't see my engagement of content as anything special these days, I suppose the launch was pure dumb luck mixed with what I thought to be clever marketing .
Ryan Powell
You're asking for advice from Veeky Forums. It's only 1 step off.
Mason Taylor
Advice and consultation differ, some shit talkers here may actually have good ideas . Or may say something that sparks some inguinity and creativity to build on my pretty linear understanding of online marketing .
So why would I potentially pay someone for unproven ideas , there are a few people who would have the experience and credentials to actually get this off the ground running , and only then after said said experience would I consider paying
Nolan Miller
Some advice I am willing to share would be to target your segment accordingly and then use your target audiences mean social media platform to push benefits and differentiate your product by its use and value , other market offering and well as consistency with competitor pricing . If you have seen any of microsofts latest shots fired towards Apple, you would see they call them out on design quality as well as function . Do the same, legitimately make a comparison that makes your product outshine theirs .
Inbetween these social media targeted potshots , include the occasional lifestyle content and pictures of subpar models usin your product to keep the Normies on the hook
Michael Sullivan
so how would you fall in line with your niche? what made people want to buy from you over others?
Cooper Price
how do you use instagram to do that?
Grayson Kelly
I imagine he uses attractive copy (positive CTA) on images and descriptions, with links to a landing page. Although it seems there's a lot of hours you need to put in, it actually doesn't seem that hard to do provided you know your product and you can write succinctly.
I imagine it like: >My skin feels so fresh! And yours can too!
Or even better: >Skincraft is offer 50 FREE samples this weekend only. I love Skincraft, makes me feel soo good.
There are no free samples.

Thank god I'm not a NEET. I can literally go outside of the house and shill.... now if only I had something to shill
Ryan Jones
wouldnt people shit on your business if you lie with free samples?
and how do you go from 0 to 1k? nobody wants to follow a 0-200 ish account where its basically all shill posts and no normie good looking youtuber shit personality
Connor Ross
Then ~~~post a link to your fucking business.
I've researched biz stuff more than a great majority here and I'm currently learning software dev. I'm in the bay area. I'll be happily clearing $100k while you continue to fantasize.
This board is full of compulsive liars.

>This board is full of compulsive liars. the world * fixed that for you
Justin Reyes
>wouldnt people shit on your business if you lie with free samples? How would they know? As far as they're concerned they're no. 51 and just missed out. In fact that's the smart part, people click on it, they are met with a "we've just run out of free samples" message but it offers them a "discount". They don't feel like they've been ripped off because they are getting it half price or whatever sweetener you advertise it with.
I mean, I wouldn't do it myself. It's too sleazy for me. But I think it could work quite well.
>and how do you go from 0 to 1k? nobody wants to follow a 0-200 ish account where its basically all shill posts and no normie good looking youtuber shit personality Even your shill posts have to be good posts. Aspirational photos and shit. but if you're really worried, then at the begining just upload quality content, follow churn, constantly mimic the strategy of popular instagrams with the same target market, mimicking their content, then once you've hit over 1k you start introducing the shill posts. But like I said, the shill posts look good too, so no one minds.
Lucas Robinson
I pray to lord chad, please... deshrekify my marketing ...
Lucas Fisher
Sorry, but some people do really make more money than you with little effort on the internet vs your cuck degree.
Camden Rivera
But when I look at popular instagrammers what do I see? Good looking people, and people that were already famous from jewtube/other media.
I still don't see how someone gets anywhere starting from scratch. I have a 200k sub channel on Youtube and since I dont show my face etc, the fucking kids don't follow me, same for twitter facebook etc. It's so fucking hard to stablish a brand without being some famous normie persona.
Jose Moore
Right on! For reference to the prior basement cuck who is undoubtedly a Neet, with no actual formal education ... I have a masters in commerce , last year in my law degree and prior studded sw dev. Now my business is of no concern here, An user message board .
Getting from stage one to 1000 so quickly doesn't require that much . Look at those famous you tubers who resemble very little to chad, they build up from squire one with flooded content .
Unified social media posts with short links scream scam to the average user, advertise your brand or site name as much as possible . Use popular social media content as hero content on your site . High quality photos are a must as well.
Any more questions ?
Anthony Lewis
What sort of style did you find worked best for your store ? I don't want to go with the regular grid based design and I am thinking of writing up a new design .
Luis Miller
>It's so fucking hard to stablish a brand without being some famous normie persona. Then you know what needs to be done.
Can you give an example of what you would call a good account with quality posts? It doesn't have to be your own. My niche is a sub category of a sub category in fitness/motivation. So if you have experience with that niche it would be appreciated. Currently got my twitter up to 5k followers but I can't get Instagram to work for me for whatever reason.

>Good looking people, and people that were already famous from jewtube/other media. What about that one where it's pretty much entirely photos of New York's Architecture. It's like one of the most followed Instagrams.
What about that one where it's literally the same directly downwards POV shot of like coffee, or reading material and stuff.
All you need to be is a good photographer who can catch a trend in your butterfly net. For fucksake: Terry Richardson appears in half his own photographs and he's no prize to look at.
>the fucking kids don't follow me, same for twitter facebook etc. It's so fucking hard to stablish a brand without being some famous normie persona. Gonna be curt here but... BULLLLLLL SHIT! >Hostile_Goose >Horse ebooks >Molly Soda >Dick Masterson >Maddox Also, there's a whole thread on this board about the marketing/branding genius behind the juggalo movement.

Just follow the look and feel of high fashion posts, Hodinkee watches and whatnot as well

how do I market my teespring? I've got Instagram, tumblr and Twitter atm for posting. I get a few likes here and there but it's not really taking off.
Ryan Lopez
What are your designs based on ?
Easton Martin
>how do I market my teespring? You sell on a different platform. Why would I buy from you on a Print on Demand site when I could copy your design to make my order wholesale and have an opportunity to sell to others?
Oliver Cox
being the middle man ... that concept is mostly dead in the supply chain dude
Chase Brooks
Only one sale today and it was under 100 bucks >feelsbadman Now I am starting to see the daily /biz struggle

With my webshop I was the only person offering the goods in the country, so they came to me.
I'm now starting a content driven website which will go online next week. I'm a bit worried it will flop, but we'll see what happens.
Brandon Collins
>Then you know what needs to be done. Whats the point of making money if you become famous? it's useless, it's all about anonimity + money.
Also becoming famous within itself is luck.
Austin Morgan
>Terry Richardson This is exactly how winning the meme lottery looks like.
Jackson King
>starting a content driven website E store using content to draw in customers or is it literally a publication?

Penetration pricing.

Nice. Do you pay for any advertising?
Jason Smith
I started selling my services at peanuts, throwing out time-limited discount coupons right and left. Also offering a medium sized package at a serious discount when customers came in to inquire about the smallest package.
I was basically working my arse off for next to nothing. Then when my clients noticed that they could make money from what I offered, they came back for more.
Then, with some experience, I streamlined the process, which enabled me to spend less time on providing the service. And all of a sudden the grind was not so much of a grind anymore.
Still not where I want to be with the business, but soon I will be offering more products and I have good connections now.
Blake Howard
What services do you provide , in specifics ?
Blake Moore
Not gonna give too many details. Just a b2b service where I find potential clients for a specific industry. These potential clients are found through scraping and merging certain data.
Noah Wright
it's like im reading nothing reading your posts
Jonathan Fisher
i went to /pol/ and told them that all revenue supports trump and the national socialist party. thousands of sales per day. :D

Because he's lying. People with real businesses would have no problem linking their business.

I'm thinking about launching a service site, $75 per year targeting not for profit organizations, basically scraped list of information from government websites, perhaps text notifications with an additional monthly charge. Not sure how viable this will be at the moment so I'm still looking into it.
Angel Lee
what sort of service user?
Zachary Morales
Does anyone know where I could buy wholesale digital games ? A friends dad wants to buy all of his workers either Xbox live or ps4 passes for their kids ??
Justin Russell
Pretty shitty since our marketing budget kinda sucks. Basically we do web design and web sites for small to medium sized businesses. Our work is pretty good but we just need that little spark (a big project) to put things into gear.
Currently we do some Twitter, but we're going to be doing Google Ads soon as well.
Jason Myers
Well, someone with explicit domain experience can do a lot and consultation is objectively better. They provide:
1) New eyes with a financial incentive to make you money. You miss things about your work others who care would see, or things that others with experience would see. People who give you advice here have no incentive to help you (including me, dumbass. I could be a consulting industry shill. If bringing that up gives you pause about trusting the rest of my post, then maybe you should consider the source of other advice in this thread. Why did they give it and why the fuck would you trust it?)
2) Consultants want you to be happy which is easiest by making you money. Their next job comes from you rehiring them, or recommending them to a friend, or writing a good review. They live and die on clients feeling satisfied.
2. Whatever you're doing, they did it once. They can, if it wasn't luck, sometimes make it happen twice. If you spend x and they make you, from well targeted advice from experience, >= x, you're ahead, maybe "fuck you" levels ahead if he did a good job.
3) Consultants come with verifiability of skills and a reputational stake for lying. Commenters here come with cheeto dusted keyboards and claims of being a fortune 500 CEO. Knowing your raconteur is a good way not to get fucked
4) Most consultants worth their salt will talk over your project, tell you what they think they can do to help you, and negotiate price before starting. It's not an unknown quantity, what you get.
All in all, consulting is bomb and advice here is worth the toilet paper it was printed on.
Yes, the irony is delicious.
Isaac Lewis
That may have been the best thing I have ever read on Veeky Forums ...
