>hot ass summer day
>i turn on the heater fan on full blast with a hot motor

someone told me to do this to avoid clogging my heater core

>Hot ass summers day
>Crawling up steep hill
>Turn the heater on full blast

>turn AC on
>car stalls

I thought heater cores were always flowing, only the flap moves to re-route the air.

i guess not if they clog somehow.

So?

Some have heater control valves that stop coolant flow through the core in addition to the temperature blend doors.

>turn on ac
>air comes out of nowhere

>Cold ass winter day
>The driver turns the heater fan on full blast with a cold motor
>Air gets warm anyway because heater is resistive

The car will take forever to warm up if you're blowing all the hot air towards you. Just like radiator fans.

>set climate control on auto 80°
>heat slowly comes on as engine warms up and heated sear warms your body
feels good m8

Does blowing the heater actually help bleed off heat more when you go full dorifto or is that a myth?

>Cold ass winter day
>Heated seats come on
>Ass is now warm

it helps quite a bit. a few years ago i blew a radiator hose and my car started overheating fast, so i turned my heat on full blast and i was able to drive it far enough before it got too hot

full on truth, my 4runner had a nasty habbit of overheating at idle or in stop in go traffic before i put the radiater fan on a toggle switch. with the hear on blast the coolant temp would always drop

its literally a tiny radiator in your cab, fan and all

wtf

>Cold ass winter day

Its almost as if the fucking normies don't know how engines and cars work.

I don't fap in the car anymore.

:( turns out I cracked a head just trying to drive the car that day.

>Cold ass winter night
>Fan motor in car doesn't work
>Can't melt the sheet of ice off my windshield
>Die either from hypothermia or from crashing because I can't see

Every morning I basically drive off into a steep hill which I take with high revs in 1st gear.

The defroster stealing some heat off the engine is the least of my worries.

Gives new meaning to the phrase "manual stick-shift"

>Cold-ass morning
>So cold, it freezes the anti-freeze coolant.
That genuinely sucks, dude.

My wife will turn the ACC temp up thinking it will get warmer quicker.

Technically yes, the heater core is a point where waste heat from the engine is vented, so it can function like a radiator

Hot ass day
Turn on heater
Piss off passengers
lool

Frankly, just fuck my shit up

>6.5 diesel suburban
>doesn't even reach operating temperature on drive to work
>takes at least 15min of driving to get heater working
>more if temps below -20 celcius

Our company car had a faulty thermostat and would overheat, so what we did is put the heater on full blast and open up the windows. This was in summertime, quite a shitty experience I might add, but it worked.

Heated passenger seats are a lot of fun in summer.

Bus drivers are so stupid

>hot day
>no AC
>window crank is rusted

>Cold AS fuck
>Go to window
>With Remote, turn on webasto engine heater
>Eat, drink coffee
>Get in preheated car, turn engine on and drive

>Remote controlled block heater

Yeah, its fucking great. It uses 0,25 liter of fuel every time i use it, but the engine uses less fuel as it doesn´t have to heat itself.
I don´t have to wait for the windows to clear either.
It Costa me 15000 Danish kroner, about 2500 dollars

>live in CA valley

Sometimes this state is alright

>it's been 10c for the last month

Underrated post

Same, I just grit my teeth and ignore it

>driving around on hot ass summer day with AC on
>car starts to stink horribly
>no more AC

it's normal, same here

Do you have to wait for the engine to reach its operating temperature before you turn the heating on, even when you have VW Climatronic?

I don't know much about my own car...

You can turn it on, but the air won't be hot because the coolant is icy chill.

>eurobeat is on the radio
>??????

>my foot is moving on its own!

> barely sprinkling
> wipers on full

VW guy again, does the engine have to be warm before the AC can be turned on?

Well the cooling AC can pretty much work straight off the bat if the engine's turning the compressor.
