First for time will forget the goons

...

>elite info on top
whatever skronks your donk m8

wrong side of history

>guns on the side of the ship too far back to use gimbal mounts.

Do they even look this stuff over before it is approved? The Sabre was bad, but this is even shittier.

It's ok, I'm sure it will be fixed by at least the second refactor.

u avin a giggle ?????

It's almost like they slide backwards for storage or w/e

SCfags seriously need to get on making an ironic and good org before we become the fucking caliphate.

I'm not saying I won't equip a size 4 missile on an Aurora and launch it twenty feet before I impact the side of some solo dad at full AB speed, we just need a better name.

Not really restless with my money. MIS -> Hurricane is only 5 bux and I can just melt that stupid little Arclite Laser Pistol for that, and Bucc -> Base Lancer is 0.

I'm sure the Hurricane will go back on sale again for some stupid events but I worry it will be more expensive then. I probably should just wait for at least the Bucc to be flyable. MISlancer never, of course.

>an ironic and good org
here, I made this but no one joined because it's me
robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/PRIVILEGED

problem is every time someone tries they basically have to out themselves and the autists comb the internet for some posting history to use against them and taint the org so no one joins it. the people who don't give a shit about muh user virtues and just want a chanfag group all went to ved long ago.

>thread ruined

I guess it suits some people's taste. It look like the Ford Taurus of space ships to me. Generic as fuck in every way.

>fighter that relies on superior fire power and agility to win
>manned turret

have they ever tried to hit something with a turret? even on slow, large craft it's hard to do consistently, on a nimble fighter it's going to be next to impossible

Has there been any controversy about Star Citizen lately? Why Chris isn't being prosecuted?

>tfw can only find unusual encrypted files
>no MEFs

What the fuck are unusual encrypted files anyways? Are these faggots in these outposts hiding encrypted loli porn?

Not every ship needs to use gimbals.

That's exactly what it is.
You're unknowingly collecting a load of horrific illegal porn and trading it to a shifty space ship mechanics for upgrades.

...

Would you rather have a cramped Avenger-like interior instead?

Absolutely.
The chairlift shit is the stupidest thing ever.

Or here's a wild idea, have an articulated pilot canopy like every fightercraft ever, and then have the bubble turret for the gunner open up so he can hop in and out.

BUT NAH, lets waste a ton of internal volume that could be put to good use on a bulky chair lift rack and the empty space that has to be there for it to pass through.

>absolutely pig disgusting design
>barely cheaper than a SH

what's the point?

I like it.

My will is to be the most savage pirate possible. As fun as your org is on it's face, I'm not sure it would further my goals in this way.

I am looking for or are willing to form an org based on the following interests.

>Primary role for revenue and acquiring property must be piracy or protection tax.

>The main goal is the acquisition of property and ships, especially big ones.

>A mutually enforced code of not intentionally destroying ships or killing crew, as the first option.

>Crews that surrender will be spared and provided a means of safe rescue. (This will not only keep dads in check, but will improve compliance, if our reputation for sparing crews is known)

>A secondary role of punishing freelance pirates and griefers. Freelance pirates will pay a heavy tribute to be allowed to operate, griefers that threaten piracy as a profession will be considered hostile.

>Honor within the org. This doesn't mean being nice. This means that if two members have a dispute, they will: talk it out if possible, adjudicate it if agreeable, shoot it out if necessary. All disagreements will be settled, or both complainants will be eliminated.

>Strict separation from Veeky Forums and leddit, at all times. This board will be the primary recruitment spot, at first. It will be a silent understanding in game that we do indeed share a common interest in this bullshit, but referencing it in the open will be an immediately bannable offense.

>No particular rules other than that. Just enough structure to allow for organization and force multiplication without anything to limit personal ambition for those who will take what they want.

Is anyone else interested in such a place? Since we know Spectrum will allow for org rooms, and piracy looks to be actually legit, I'm willing to write a proper charter if there is enough interest.

>Gladius has the aesthetic but the not firepower
>Hurricane has the firepower but not the aesthetic

gladius forever relegated to pretty but useless as usual

Is this real?

It can be. A good name would seal it.

holy shit the autism
you could scoop it up with a spoon

you would fit in with the daddest of the ED dads if you weren't such a griefing PVP psychopath

i am honored to share a thread with someone such as yourself, i salute you and your dreams

The fact that you think PvP is psychopathy is exactly why you limit yourself to mindless boredom and play a limited game with no imagination.

Don't wish for us to go away, user. Wish for yourself to be better to rise to the challenge.

>The fact that you think PvP is psychopathy

i don't

are you new to this thread?

>such a griefing PVP psychopath
Do you even look at what you type?

none of that sounds savage. in fact it sounds like you've decided to skip completely the savage early stages of organized crime and settle into peaceful bureaucratic mafioso grey business.

i think i got my answer regarding your previous history in this thread
or
you're being obtuse on purpose

looks like you got your answer

>peaceful bureaucratic mafioso grey business
I don't think they will just give that to just anyone who asks.

>i think i got my answer regarding your previous history in this thread
enlighten me senpia. what is my history?

yup

oh well

he'll get the memo soon enough

>enlighten me senpia. what is my history?

brief

>I haven't followed this thread long enough to know some obtuse reference to some excuse as to why someone got fucking owned in the past and shit posted enough to make a meta about it?

Well I guess you got me there, sport.

I wish your organization the best of luck.

>obtuse reference

highly prevalent

>why someone got fucking owned in the past and shit posted enough to make a meta about it

wrong

do not worry your weary head you will soon understand and embrace the dad within you

Thanks. Watching the thread get triggered is all the inspiration I need. o7

>embrace the dad within you
Keep lashing out and reeeing at me, sweetie. It's not going to make that pit in your stomach go away when you see that it is a player in game that is after you. CR has made it a core mechanic, and your days are numbered. You might combat log, but you will never shake that cowardly nature of yours.

i think i can check the box for obtuseness now

why does star citizen have triangle ships?

can anyone explain this?

google 'perspective'

CIG has always had bland or ugly spaceships outside of maybe 2-3

I think they were trying to make a corsair but just fucked it up really badly.

what's going on here?

Go the fuck away, you shitposting mongoloid.

I'm not being ironic or sarcastic, I don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

I started following because of an SC leak after 2.6 was in evocati. I half converted to edg because I had over 300 hours in ED before and had already put the revolver away once. Going to Quince changed the game for me, but I'm hoping 3.0 for SC is done before I get the revolver out again over fucking engineers. I only have an not engineered FAS and a Hauler. I went to the CG and spammed chat in a sidewinder once, but that's it. I couldn't figure out how to kill anyone, because I wasn't up on the latest ramming shit in a sidewinder meta yet.

I'm punishing the SC dads who post "first" on every thread, who think Connies are fighters, who think soloing an Idris with paid crews will work somehow, who think having some faggot org allows them to RP corrupt police in the PU.

wait a second, I just figured something out

what's CIG trying to pull here? Did they really think they would fool us?

need serious discussion here, I thought this game would be the none triangle space sim. Considering refund

Help

I knew it!

>I'm not being ironic or sarcastic, I don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

then i shall repeat myself and say that you will eventually know what i am talking about

there is no anger, frustration or overbearingness
you shall see the VISION as you have once seen the revolver

then

you shall see the dads without and within

(basically some dads like to post on the official forums how people who want to do PVP in Elite are all griefing psychopaths and you clearly did not get the reference even though /edg/ is three quarters shitposting about dads and their dumb opinions)

Also I really hate this "fuck you for being an early backer who wants to trade one ship for another" tax.

Who else /hype/ here for mining turrets? Anyone want to join me in my Asp for multicrew mining?

Who here has spent more than $2000 for ships in SC? I do but I'm not proud of it. I still think of it as an investment.

I think of it as a donation not an investment, you're going to be dis appointed if you're expecting a return, no game is worth $2000.

The visions are converging

Instead of triangle ships, you could have bought triangle numbers. With two thousand dollars, you could have 62 triangle numbers.

Why manned turret

>people who want to do PVP in Elite are all griefing psychopaths
That's why I went when another user posted to go fuck with dads at the community thing. That was the first time I played in months. I realized I wasn't anywhere near equipped to properly grief, so I set out to Quince. Now I got an FAS and foot in the door with engineers.

Sounds like we had a little miscommunication. I fully support non consent PvP in open games. Breaking Point was the most visceral PvP game I've played so far. I'm hoping SC can get that brutal when you have tense space standoffs with capital ships on the line.

>i dont want to play a multiplayer game with other people

...

Why manned turret on a dogfighter

Because they didnt want to give 2xS4 + 4xS(whatever the turret is(some images have combines(S4 Some have Sawbucks(S2 I think)
To a single pilot, that would be hilariously OP and gamebreaking.

They're probably trying to make some buddy ships where a second player can join you and shoot shit up. Unfortunately with the way ships fly, especially nimble fighters, turrets just don't work properly. Maybe CIG has a plan in the future to properly overhaul both the turrets and the flight of the ships to make them work well together. As long as that Hurricane has the ability to twist and turn on a dime, that turret gunner is gonna have a bad time.

Pic related.

Unless he's AI.

An NPC cannot shoot at something that is on the opposite side of the craft half the fight, unless they just say fuck it and give the NPCs wallhax and shit.

>and a pirate spawns on top of him

Why the fuck can't I just leave my limpets in my miner, why do I have to discard them when I want to switch ships. Why cant the game track cargo in ships instead of forcing you to transfer cargo and dump all drones

Because they don't want to save that data because there are no real servers. Fuck you.

They can obviously keep track of all my ships scattered about the galaxy and their loadouts, how much difficult could it be to have them also track what each ship is carrying?

Non-zero. You're lucky they even let you own multiple ships and that they weren't like modules before.

The dads would scream it's more realistic.

One of the devs said in Spectrum today that they plan on overhauling turrets then after they complete that then allow turrets to be slaved to the pilot.

Because VISION or something. Just go and complain about it no the forums, have the dads tell you to just use the feature as it is and that it doesn't need changing, realize the futility of arguing against anything in this game, then uninstall until 3.0 so you can repeat the cycle.

What the fuck is with SC and its obsession with turrets? Why does everything need a turret?

My will is to be the most savage pirate possible. Your org looks like carebear shit.

>Primary role for revenue will be theft.

>The main goal is making profit and hurting others.

>A mutually enforced code of "By any means necessary".

>Crews that surrender will be stripped of all items and value, arbitrarily murdered, rescued, toyed with as is fit. This will keep our reputation unknown and unquantifiable, some will have good, bad or inbetween experiences.

>A secondary role of hunting complainants and decriers, to instill fear.

>Honor within the org, or until you are usurped by an underling.

>Strict no association with extra-game communications.

Ftfy.

>load your full cargo type9 with plenty goods in some station
>hop in your >asp with 2000ly per jump
>reach destination in a jiffy
>transport type 9 for like 1k credits
>logoff
>come back later
>ez money's
they're just lazy and don't want to implement per-dock storage

>Why cant the game track cargo in ships instead of forcing you to transfer cargo and dump all drones
I suspect that it's related to why you can't store cargo at a station.

>Because they don't want to save that data because there are no real servers
That sounds likely. If a player started leaving cargo lying around the galaxy, the size of the data for that player could get pretty big, pretty quickly.

I'm a DB dev irl, I'll write a little about how I see their DB needs.

As it stands, a player record is pretty small, it's limited to a few ships and their configuration data and one shared storage (right? I'm a noob in-game). Since ships are expensive, we know that the number of them will be small, it's not like you'll have thousands, the order of magnitude on ships is probably going to be tens. Even years from now, few players would have a hundred ships lying around. Probably just a few dozen haulers/sidewinders on some mission-exploit planets and then their main stable of ships which get moved around when needed.

On the other hand, a few years from now players will have visited thousands/tens of thousands of stations.

Because the game is funded up-front and not on subscription, recurring costs need to be minimised. Subscription games can pay for a large DB server from Amazon with the fees from 2 players. It takes the sale of one copy of Elite to pay for the same server for about two months.

So they need to keep data sizes small, even at the expense of complexity and development time. Because Frontier are an old-school company with some very old-school devs, I can make predictions about how they might do it.
...

I'm just not sure how overhauling only turrets will be enough. A gunner can't really shoot at someone or something when an air craft is doing barrel rolls constantly

>...

Every module on the ship could be encoded as a number; it has its base type, module slot, engineer modifications and damage.
Those are just prime numbers that you multiple together to get one number that uniquely identifies that module configuration. The ship itself is nothing more than a type, a set of modules (including paint and bobble-heads) and hull damage.

These can all be stored pretty easily in a binary record that might be compressed first (probably not a good ration on compression though). When the pilot enters the game or changes ships, the ship record is retrieved and decoded and stored temporarily in a more usable format in a cache on the actual game server until a significant change happens to it or the pilot disconnects or changes ships when it gets encoded and written back to the DB. Repair could be written back to the DB but there's no pressing need for damage to be written back, it happens too often and nobody will complain if a server rollback causes their damage to be undone.

Cargo would be something similar but the number of stations to save data at (and unique cargo is another problem) is at least two orders of magnitude larger than the number of ships people would have so the data would expand rapidly and become a significant burden on our unfunded DB servers.

In business terms, using one-off revenue to pay for recurring costs is insane so you'd have to expect that game design will be shaped around minimising recurring costs, which means that complex server-side calculations and data storage cannot be a part of the game in its current form.

>they're just lazy and don't want to implement per-dock storage
It's not laziness, it's business. Their current business model would not survive per-dock storage unless they're selling a lot more copies of the game than we know.

What do I name my LTI 890 Jump?

I'm thinking something involving Trump memes, but on the other hand, I'd like to have a pretty name. I'm torn.

Also black hole worshiping death cult when?

I just want to be a smuggler.
I'll carry a cargo hold full of kidnapped oriental slave children surgically filled with all the illegal drugs as long as it'll pay good.

absolutely savage

>Primary role for revenue will be theft.
There is a limit to that. The real joint is to get them to hand over the ship and cargo willingly. If you can back it up unequivocally, you can take the ship and cargo without a shot.

>The main goal is making profit and hurting others.
You can't constantly punish. If you beat the dads too much, they will revolt and cry out for a nerf. If you fuck with their heads, you can control the willing among them completely. There will always be people to fight.

>A secondary role of hunting complainants and decriers, to instill fear.
No problem with that. Just got to make sure that they fear you and not just hate you.

>usurped by an underling.
org is based on avarice, what can I say.

>Strict no association with extra-game communications.
this should probably be at the top.

>Structure is biggest is boss.
Piracy will devolve into senseless griefing, unless we steer it's path. Carebears are our biggest threat. That is why now is the time to establish how this will go down.

You mistake my kindness with weakness and that's ok, just different style that's all. I think we are speaking the same language.

Logistics will be critical. The tip of the spear won't have much cargo room.

I wouldn't worry too much about piracy dying out due to care bears.

Chris will try to accommodate them, but he's said before that he himself would either be a bounty hunter or pirate. Our concerns should be in his fore brain.

I'm pretty confident after they described how the game would spawn piracy missions to counter the trade runs and other missions. I just hope it is not some shallow bullshit, but allows you to finish the mission several ways.

I don't know I just want the game to be good and the game to be such that I can live my life there

My biggest concern has been with NPC traders.

Hull ransoming will probably be the name of the game, so if we can't flag them down and negotiate a fee not to blow them up, we're forced to raid them where we wouldn't be with a player.

That'd be mighty gay.

Depends on what the hull is worth. May be a better use of time to blow them up, sell the salvage data, and move on.

True. I'm gonna be rolling with a small crew though, so the less heat that's on us, the better.

Of course, if they don't comply, we'll have to blow them up. Can't go earning a reputation for being a pushover.

That's what I meant earlier as "the first option." I'm taking the ship and cargo. Whether it is intact or in pieces is up to the unfortunate soul who meets me.

SPACE

LEGS

WHEN

>try to find a decent group in the forums to join
>most that are still active are well-established fuckhuge groups, hate huge groups due to experiences in EVE and other MMOs
>one of the top groups actually says that most members are older as in literal dads
>other groups are exploration and extreme roleplay groups, end-game ASP tier

This is probably the worst fucking place to ask, but is anyone here in or know of a group that does maybe some light roleplay but just shoots the shit while helping with shitgineers and things like that? Some mission stacking, occasional roleplay, you know, things in this game that are actually fun. There's one Fed group I'm looking at but again they're an avid PP group and I hate Powerplay with a passion so I don't know if they'd spaz out on me if I didn't want to do PP with them.

>occasional roleplay

I meant to say "occasional PvP." I've never really done PvP other than nearly wasting the fuck out of an Anaconda that decided to interdict me while I was in my Dropship. Ganking newfriends and pulling pranks on people isn't really to my taste either so SDC is out of the question, that and they all look like le epic /v/ shitheads that spout memes all day on Discord.

I'd be very interested in this as well. I want a private group with people I can shoot the shit with, do some casual bounty hunting in a wing with or multicrew when that drops. Basically people who don't take the game too seriously, but not so lightly that it turns into a giant memefest with 3 other people in it. Somewhere /comfy/ so I can sit and waste my life drinking beer and whining about the game we're currently playing and hop into when I want and not have it devoid of live (solo) or barely alive (open).

Am I asking for too much?

Ahahahahhaa

Disco Lando | CIG@DiscoLando-CIG10:58 pm
Basically production has to cull all the relevant data, go through IC reports, see what worked, what didn't, what still needs fixing, make priorities, then examine progress on intended features, put that all into some production calculus that's way over my head, and then spit out a schedule. Some patches take longer than others, so I don't know when the first version of the 2.6.2 schedule will be ready, but I don't think it's gonna be tonight.

This is just makes them look bad.
