Cheap to make, an older Ram is under 5000$, and the chassis and drivetrain are already solid. Even a 12V-71 motor could be cool, and you can get them for cheap from Semis in junkyards

This thing would have enough space to drop two v8 in it. Do it

I was thinking of Detroit Diesel 16V-71 with quad turbo

youtube.com/watch?v=e53SPtpJFI0

1000+HP and 2000 lb ft of torque

>detroit diesel
cummins > DD

>how to spot someone that's never ran anything with a DD

They're cool until you spend the day driving one of those godawful things. I'm deaf as shit in one ear and I'm pretty sure the vibrations killed my nuts a long time ago.

>tfw the old bastards had intake shut off vents and co2 injection systems because they were so prone to running away

>cummins
>not 2 stroke Detroit Diesel

what are you, so some of prancinglalahomoman

How would that be cheaper to make?

>wanting a poorman's mercedes truck engine

>not realizing the 2 stroke line was long before merc even heard of DD

Just aluminum body you dildo, you don't have to engine swap

But you have 20L of space, so you may as well

>wanting a WWII era diesel

works then, works now.
I fall to see you're point?

see:
I've already done my time with those things

>Cheap to make, an older Ram is under 5000$

Under $5000 to get freeway ramming speed. Can't wait!

fail.
its one of them days.

wait so like
you shift the cabin and controls into the bed and extend the engine bay?
that sounds nightmarishly complicated but so weird it might be cool

>Designing a whole new frame for that
>Don't forget all that "muh safety" equipment
>I'm pretty sure the vibrations killed my nuts a long time ago.
Are they that bad?

but (newer) other stuff works better and (subjectively) sounds better. and newer shit is more likely to pass emmisions

>Cummins anything
>DD anything but 12v92
>Not Caterpillar 3406

it's like you want to break down

t. truck driver

The ones I drove/grew up with were all cabover or mobile cranes so the engine was right under you or beside your head. So essentially riding on the engine more than anything. Or right beside your ear in the cranes hence why I have almost no hearing in my right ear

With conventional hoods they weren't too bad in the cab, but they were all notorious for cracked or completely unbolted bell housings. It was actually pretty common maintenance to do your filters, oil, and close the gap between the bell housing and engine on those beasts

does caterpillar even do semi truck/semi rtuck engines anymore?

no, california killed them. :'( I had heard talk of them rebadging some navistar engines to go with the cat highway trucks but dunno if anything came of that

Don't know for sure but a 3406 is better than anything made in the last 5 years

>Space for the biggest engine/supercharger combo you can imagine
>Bench seat for 3
>Bed with topper to store shit, dat dere functionality.

Successor to AMC Gremlin?

that already existed in mexico
