Nigga I learned Japanese for the god tier amount of porn games there are that will literally never get translated - and frankly that alone was worth it. Everything else is just a bonus for me, and it's not so much the 7 months for most people, it's playing it unspoiled, I feel.

Learned it from classes. Trying to learn a language on your own is borderline impossible. See if you can find local Jap classes. Being in Japan helps too - the half year I spent there was were I made the most progress.

Since I live in a smaller city, it was an online course. It's really good for those having trouble with normal classes as you learn new methods of studying. Later you can just apply to a higher semester in a normal Japanese course or keep studying by yourself.
