I'm considering to get a Hyundai veloster as my next car, unfortunately my budget isn't high enough to get a turbo. Is this ok or shall I consider something different

IT A HYUNDAI

Get something else

Civic
Corolla
Mazda3

or even an 86 with a turbo kit is better (that's all the power you REALLY need)

Suspension is crashy and severely unsettled over even a pinecone in the road. And goes without saying the base model is slow, frustratingly so at times. 132hp and no torque can make pulling out into busy streets an instant life/death situation. Interior quality features a lot of hard plastics. There are recalls for panoramic sunroofs spontaneously shattering, exterior trunk latches failing, and something about a canister that I never had to deal with. Depreciation is bad / does not hold value.

However if you just want a 40mpg daily/commuter that isn't a boring box Civic/Corolla/Elantra, the base Veloster is really not all that bad a vehicle. Very nimble and aglie feeling car in all situations. Find an orange one and random people will stop you to compliment it constantly, but police also tend to notice these cars. Recent survey said this is in the top 10 most ticketed vehicles iirc. Panoramic roof is rare on other cars in the economy class but not the Velo. Hyundai dealer service is excellent, just dont modify anything. If you do want to mod, there is lots of stuff out there. Etc.

There. I taught you all I know.

Please god stop buying these cars, they are fucking hideous. What on earth do you want one for?

Shut up and buy a civic for 3k

Literally why?

>suspension is crashy
>very nimble and agile
Well which one is it?

not mutually exclusive. The suspension can be tight as shit and be nimble/agile

>Hyundai dealer service is excellent, just dont modify anything
I have a Velosturd Turbo, not even a catback will go nicely with them?

>modifying a shitbox
Kill yourself

Get a Focus ST

How is that even an option you stupid fuck? HE cant even get the turbo veloster......

>korean

Umm... both.

Turn-in/out is quick. Steering is basically accurate, yet numb and devoid of road feel. This is parroted in every professional review, and it is true. You care about "feel the road," you need to look elsewhere. That being said the ride quality itself still leaves a lot to be desired. Bounces around way too much which is why coilovers and rear stabilizers is one of the first things people want to do to the Veloster.

Mk.2 Veloster is SUPPOSED TO BE getting an independent rear suspension and inevitably better suspension tuning all around, i.e. what the Elantra Sport just got and what the i30/EGT is getting shortly.

Well, perhaps I am exaggerating a bit, but the Veloster forums are littered with people bitching about service depts refusing stuff due to various mods. Of course as long as your issue cannot be directly linked to your mod you're golden eh?

>Of course as long as your issue cannot be directly linked to your mod you're golden eh?

That funny because all idiots say this but some dealers will go out of their way to fuck you over.

Get it man, it's the best 3 door hatchback on the market right now.

You can always boost it later when you get the money, it isn't difficult to do.

GOD DAMN, WHY ARE THESE CARS EVERYWHERE?

there is at least 10 in my town and it's a small town, now I come here and a lot of people niw have them

It's the flavor of the month. In about 6 months the hype will die down and people will move on to real cars.

LOL that's what people said about Lexus too... And now Genesis has them scared too.

The only bad thing that Veeky Forums ever has to say about it is that its Korean. Just like the only bad thing people had to say about Lexus back in the day is that it wasn't German.

You can't stop this kind of innovation with name calling.

>rev hang
>Shit visibility
>mediocre build quality

>rev hang
I keep hearing this and yet do not know what it means

throttle-by-wire faggotry where the car isn't actually connected to the gas pedal at all

Buy a used car, and get something 10x more fun and cooler for the same price instead of wasting your money on a fucking hyundai.

If you have to reach for a car, it's too expensive for your existing finances. There are tons of great used cars available for relatively little, particularly if you're young I would never advise buying a new car unless it's exactly what you want and you can comfortably afford it.

Right there with you bud

One of the most misunderstood cars of our generation.

The bold styling made it look like it's supposed to go 200mph to normies and gearheads alike, so when they found out it didn't they decided to trash it.

It was only ever intended to be a more stylish Hyundai Accent.

>One of the most misunderstood cars of our generation.

Plenty of people understand this car perfectly well, that why you see so many of them. You don't buy a Veloster for its out of the box performance, you buy it as a platform to build on. You just aren't creative enough to see the potential in it.

Even with the turbo it's underpowered. Basically you're saying "all I can afford is a commuter shitbox". So be honest about it and get the best commuter shitbox for the money.

The turbo isnt underpowered. It has enough power for what the car is at its price point.

>Panoramic roof is rare on economy cars
This is fucking retarded. If I go to Europe, I can buy a fucking Civic with one. Moonroofs are common in the US while panaromic roofs are the norm in the in the rest of the world. Fucking why? Pic related. Panaromic roof on the civic.

Are you buying used? If not, consider buying a used model if something else

It's a lukewarm hatch that's ugly as sin and doesn't drive well, AND its Hyundai build quality. Why would anyone buy it?

Because Hyundai build quality today is better than a lot of car makers build quality nowadays

I own a veloster but how the platform is even good? The car already performs poorly when pushed to the limit even at stock.

Stricter safety regulations and cost, I assume.

Plus America has "hail" or whatever you call it when iceballs fall from the sky in the summer months.

It's not cost or safety or anything. I can get panaromic roofs on SUVs, luxury vehicles, etc. So what's the hold up? I have a feeling they are trying to cuck us into more expensive vehicles.

This ugly. Subjective, yes but it just lacks taste all around.

FiST

The 3.6l penis mobile wasn't much more expansive and in Canada during your last year the r-spec was the base model.

What does that have to do with the Veloster? Fuck off leaf

>you don't need 9000 hp
