Post some clean econobox cars

Post cars that were meant to be economy cars that lasted and were well maintained and spotless. I have a soft spot for 20 year old Japanese commuter cars that were meticulously cared for and appear to be like new now.

There's something oddly satisfying about seeing a model of car that was meant to be cheap and essentially disposable that's instead been looked after and cared for.

Maybe it's because there aren't many of them around anymore, and seeing one that looks new is kind of like traveling in time.

...

Wow, that's a real timeless design, still looks great today.

lol same here.

That's because there are no dope-slinging, gang-banging, spit-rapping, basketball-playing, timbs-wearing, chainz-listening nigger in japan to abuse the shit out of civics like there are in the states.

Friend spotted this on the road, it was pretty much brand new.

this is one of my dream cars

...

god bless your soul

Is it just the Mexican made ones that have shit safety?

No way to know for sure, can't find any crash tests for '92 Sentras, only ones I could find were for the mexican-made cars.

>buy the shittiest beater from craigslist
>then the newest, cleanest example you can find in mexico
>swap VIN

Brand new Sentra!

Shitboxes from the 90s aren't exactly tanks

How much would the paint job cost to buy a civic and paint it? $3000?

d-does mine count?

Note to you guys trying to make it to the spotless commuter title .
>Hands off the shifter while driving if its an auto...it promotes unnecessary wear on the plastic.
>Easy on the cleaners and use basic light stuff.
>Don't be afraid of dings an dents..these things happen and will make you sick if your worrying about a 20k car for the next so on years.

One of the qualities I look for in a clean shitbox commuter are basic internals (missing nobs, wear in weird places, broken plastic/ trim.
IM mostly concerned about the condition of the paint ( aside from minor dings ) as well is (most important) it was taken care of mechanically. (I don't give a fuck if the dealer did it or you did it) just make it happen. Man as I was walking home earlier I saw a clean Daewoo . They stopped selling those in the US who knows when. There is an old dealership near me that turned into a parking lot but the sign is still up. Guy was surprised that I even asked about it but upon me asking how the fuck he kept it so clean he was like you just gotta give a shit about your things man. He knows its a piece of shit, he knows its not collectable , he knows its probably worth less than a conventional car but its his so he wants it to look presentable. Thing was mint though..the carpets were under aftermarket plastic ones and still in the DEALER PLASTIC ....I repeat still in the dealer plastic.

>Don't be afraid of dings and dents
>Ate at some restaurant with the family a few weeks ago
>Go back outside and say goodbye and notice some faggot fucked up the side of my car with no note
It drives fine but it pisses me off looking at it, but I don't want to commit anymore money to the car.

I did that to my own car once because some tire fuck has these big mudders on it and I didn't see the bottom half of the tire. I left no note I tried to wait a bit but guy took off the second I got back to the care. I may have left a scuff on the bottom of his bumper but my scuff was right at tire height and his was a bit lower then were mine showed up. Car was a shit truck with dents and scuffs everywhere anyways. It was impossible to tell. I hate when assholes have these huge tires and don't accommodate for the space

Mine's just a '99 Sedan, so it wasn't a space issue, just some fucking idiot who can't drive and probably forgot where the fucking gas and brake were. My bumper is semi-crumpled under the light and there's paint chipping and it makes me so angery.

Also this store has its parking lot in like what looks like a alley way and the spaces are nearly half a foot skinner than normal spots. Its nearly impossible to park and I should have avoided the place to begin with

then go dry yourself

This is a good post. Thank you.

I'm having a hard time buying a shitbox commuter and I'll keep this in mind the next time I see a car.

looking new or old?

old
I realize that this doesn't give me much wiggle room for old cars that were taken care of, but ill still try.

Can you afford new? its hard to find "old" shitbox commuters that were well maintained like the examples in this thread.

I honestly want to see a pristine example of a 1st gen crv or rav 4

nvm found one
youtube.com/watch?v=-addBs0F2Ro

I have the funds to buy a new car outright but
a) I don't have my own garage to store it in
and
b) I don't feel comfortable dropping so much money on a car that's going to be depreciating in value no matter how much I care for it.
I'm saving for the down payment of a house and buying a new car would set me back quite a bit. That's why I'm looking at non-new cars.

Dropping $3000 to $4000 on a civic from 2000 or something is what I'm hoping to do right now. Whether it lasts the next 5 to 10 years without a major fuck up is something that I need to keep my fingers crossed for.

You sound like literal me except I sprung for a new car.

bump for more clean cars

my old Saturn was pretty mint and got it for only 700 bucks.

moreeee

Feast your eyes on this baby

woah mama

I honestly like the newer one but clean ride homie. Is that rear wheel cover able to come off?

>that interior
I still remember how the upholstery feels, but a diff pattern.
Damn man, much appreciated.

I know, right? so clean that it makes you not even want to daily drive it in winter conditions.

MFW I have a mint silver 01 CR-V

Good cars. Multilink all around. Boxy with good visibility. Lots of storage and hidden hidey spaces. Pic nic table. Good visibility. Basic AWD for shit weather. Boxy, plain, airy, and reasonably tough. Basically, a japanese rendition of a volvo wagon. We just use it for camping and dump runs now because we have two newer lexuses, but it's too good of a car to let go. And it looks mint. Just a little bit of the molding is starting to fade and it has a few road chips in the hood.

I have the 2016. Bough it because it reminded me of the old crv in size. Plenty of room and a decent awd for bad weather. I cant wait to get to the 100k club

this thing must have belonged to an old person who only used it on weekends

Most likely.

At my community center, they would typically hold senior activities and you'd find real gems in the parking lot, once found a PRISTINE 1992 manual Corolla, pinch welds still intact, paint was absolutely perfectly white, ect.

She wanted 3K for it at the time but I didn't have the cash.

Also saw another absolutely pristine 1st gen ES300 in the parking lot.

My grandfather had a 1990s Taurus that was pretty mint as well. Just one piece of plastic interior trim had cracked but easy repair

salem.craigslist.org/cto/6152692485.html

i was going to buy this thing, but fuck me if it didn't get swooped up before i had the chance to go look at it in person.

HNNNNNNG

The memes are real.

Yes. USDM variants have a bunch of extra anti intrusion bars to improve crash safety. The Tsuru would've never passed federal safety standards even for the years that the sentra equivalent sold in the US.

You can bring in a Tsuru for parts but the chassis itself is junk.

whats so meme about that statement

The memes about how old people have pristine cars, user.

ooh lol. Well it was...A/c was ice cold as well.Man that thing was great.

What is this? I like

Almost bought one of those Camrys, I love their iron faced styling...

looks like a corolla wagon but probably some up trim version

Did you even buy the fucking thing? That's the craigslist picture you used last week

What a coincidence.

I've got a USDM one of these and have been thinking about selling it after realizing I've got too many cars.

I was just watching those crash tests the other day. On one hand it's great on gas and fun, on the other I don't want to get dismembered in a worst case scenario.

It's probably true that the USDM cars are a lot safer but I wish I could find a source. Still doesn't change the fact there's no airbags.

Would repainting my 80s honda be a good idea if I wanted something this nice? Or does it just defeat the purpose

Lol, never said I bought it, just posting because it's a well maintained shit box

...

Yeah oddly enough these clean shitbox commuter cars of the 70s 80s 90s and even in the 2000s generate something in people that just screams frugality and making things last. I wonder what cars that are made today that will have this notion in later decades...hmmm lemme throw together a list.
>Honda Fit
>Honda HRV since its basically a cuv fit
>older Honda before it bloated lets say from 2001-2015 )
>Current and past corollas
>Probably a camry

help me out yall
>

ANY CAR WILL DO

posttt morree

Guys I need your assistance. In order to keep my new car fresh I had an idea. I want to put that dealer stick by the glovebox on it . ( you know the one about advanced airbags) I removed it in my excitement during my first wash but it was there for a bit. I want to replace it so that way hopefully I can trip people out in the future with it still being there. Where would I find that?

sticker*

wtf happened to interior designs. This shit looks so clean and elegant compared to todays space ship curves.

Undoubtedly kids in 20 years will feel the same way about cars from today. We feel this way because we grew up riding in these cars

Don't the Japanese get new cars frequently and rarely repair/keep around old ones?

Yeah they pretty much scrap anything remotely old. I think the government actually promotes it to cut back on excessive amounts of shit laying around as well as always being current with emissions.

Na I dont remember riding in cars like that when I was a kid. I remember riding in cars like this for the most part. I was born in 91.

I for one never cared for the cars my family had growing up in the early 2000's. Always preferred the vehicles that were at least 10 years out of production by the time I was born

another one coming our way people
youtube.com/watch?v=zyK2Fx4rYKg

Same here. My folks frist car was a Chevrolet celebrity and the second was a dodge caravan. My parents have a crv now and I own a hrv.

>at the general tool/construction store with my brother
>in the parking lot
>see a Renault Espace 2 maneuvering out of it's parking space
>bright red, which is already rare
>absolutely spotless
>bottom black part was actually black instead of becoming dark gray with time
it's without a doubt the cleanest '90s car I've seen ever
there was this '90s corolla this old lady had and was very fucking clean too, I wonder if it'd be possible to have it

Theres a guy in my neighborhood that has a s-p-o-t-l-e-s-s first gen fit. Literally looks showroom fresh and like the other user was saying he even had the dealer warning labels on the glovebox and the carpet in its plastic in the back. He got aftermarket rubber ones. Thing looks showroom fresh. Literally...I had to ask...by some chance maybe it was old stock sold recently or something...nope. It was bought new and kept pristine. He has a 2017 accord in the garage and is looking to sell this one or trade in when he gets a sports car.

bump

I have had a similar experience. Guy I delivered pizza to at a retirement home had a mint IS300 wagon. Said he would never think of selling until he's dead. Doesn't even drive it anymore. What a shame

wait, so his fit is his weekend worrier and his accord is his daily?

My car looked like this 30 years ago. It doesn't anymore...

nah he uses both of them but the accord is usually kept in the garage. Its a 2 car so sometimes the fit as well but I always see it on the driveway so maybe not as much. I wish I got some photos of it earlier. If you threw this in a Honda dealership you would think it was old new stock that just never got sold...its literally that good

Yes

Nice

Wagon E100. Since I know it well while you not really, I'm assuming it's the european trim.

>*E100 Corolla

A E S T H E T I C
so much fucking want, user spare me some interior pics

Also, currently at the bodyshop to treat the couple few rust spots it has before they spread. Tried to see if I could tackle it myself, but my welding unit is way too powerful - was blowing through all of the spare testing metal sheets I got. The shop owner is an acquaintance of mine and even he is surprised - apparently cleaner than quite a few 24 year old cars he had there.

Pic is only related sadly because fuck I thought I had a photo on my new phone.
