Not him but if you're playing hard5 then you probably won't have gold to buy a dust to start. Depending on the bracket, you need to TP to lane or shrine as soon as game starts to anticipate wards, then you need to buy an obs and sent to secure the lane before the first wave spawns. There's no way a supp can afford the 180gold for an offensive dust.

This. I started with a sent, but I used it to deward mid, and figured I could just bully Weaver at 1 since I took Shadow Shaman.
Which worked, it's just Slark auto attacked the lane and never denied to Weaver was level 5 at minute 4.

So, i've played most other MOBAs (Smite, League of Legends, etc.) and HotS, and thought trying DotA 2 out could be fun. After playing a single match (not even to the end) i have a couple questions:
Can i lock the camera, and if so, how?
How to i interpret this minimap? All i see are tiny arrows on a grey background.
Is the map asymmetric? Why?
What skills will transfer well from other MOBAs and HotS?
My PC is a toaster, can the game still run to a playable level while not looking like an art project made of puke?
And most importantly, how am i supposed to have fun in this? Any fun heroes good for a new player for me to learn the mechanics? Because right now i'm completely fucking lost.

Yes, i know that, the thing is, how do a know which arrow is which hero, which arrows are from my team and which ones are from the enemy team, where the hell are the camps on the map, etc. The minimap being really small also doesn't help.

i recently upgraded my 8 year old PC (think of PS3/Xbox360 era), and it could handle dota at 50-60 fps just fine on lowest settings with 100% rendering

when held it will give more gold, it is not an active item with a cooldown. it can be used on your hero like moonshard can be, to give a buff, but for less values than the item being held.
Sometimes you gotta settle with shit because either the game hates you and doesn't spawn wolves or everyone just clears them out before you get to them.

They are working out the kinks because of alchemist already having greed. It's not scaling properly with that skill, and it's holding everything up. Currently the multipliers are giving nearly 800-1.2k per rune, they can't figure out why.
