KoFXIV's netcode is pretty decent, more than playable. Keep track of twitter for when people host lobbies and you'll be fine.

A lot of people seem to have the idea that it's a waste of a better character slot. The way I see it, is they're filling a slot that would otherwise not exist. There wouldn't be another "better" character if they didn't exist, it would be just one less character.
Well that's what I'm going to do with it.
