+premades to rank up are common unlike horde
-if not in a premade gg
+easier raiding
-less population
-Veeky Forums guild cancer

-no premades
-chinese farming honor a lot, they are shit at pvp though so its not hard at all to rank up
-sometimes you get shit pushed in when EST-EU hours line up with premades (easily avoided though unless you're like rank 10 + and have to be in game all hours)
+more difficult raiding without paladin/dwarf priest crutches
+Veeky Forums containing guilds* memey but not cancer (*salty dogs experiencing 3rd? resurgence atm, and dank buddz collective has some normies, nobody raiding full Veeky Forums on horde side)

There are about 15 players 58-60 who've logged in in the last 2 days, everyone else is still levelling up. All the OG Salty Dogs like Grimlic and Trux and etc have moved on. I got a few Placeholder/Comfy players to come across though. Looking like 40 man raiding is a long ways off still. Guild isn't dead though. If you are fine waiting and don't want to deal with normies (dank buddz collective) or the nonsense on alliance with MoH, still a home for players on horde side Elysium.

Depends on the grinding.
The absolute fastest is questing with grinding at times. All of the speedrun questing guides tell you to kill shit as you go and have portions where flat out grinding is superior to questing.
It depends on class, spec, gear, and the mobs. A warrior wouldn't have a lot of fun grinding a camp of disarming mobs, for example.
It also depends on the server. Even now on elysium where there isn't a huge amount of people leveling, most of the good spots will still be taken up and competition means shitty xp.
If you google grinding spots for 1.12 there is a big list, some are great, some aren't as great. I like spots that have drops that complement whatever my profession is, or has mining nodes that respawn. Chests can also be a bonus.
Either way, if you kill shit as you go and try to minimize downtime as much as possible, you'll level at a good rate.
