What are some essential items that need to be inside the boot of every car?

Sleeping bag and a bottle of wine.

That's really about it if youre hard. Nothing goes in the back half of my car except suspension and the fuel tank/pump. Everything else is just metal and a few pieces of trim and a plate.

I keep my tool bag for work, the sunshade for the windshield, as well as spare tire, tire change kit, and I'm about to make up a first aid kit for it as well.

As well have a couple extra coats, one for greasing equipment in and the other just in case somebody needs one. Parka for extreme rain and wind. I've got extra jeans, pair of socks, and my other set of shoes when I'm at work. Usually things like tow straps and tie downs aaaaaaand usually my binoculars and gun.
