Do I seriously need to buy the expacs to even do anything now?

Nothing's stopping you from running dungeons or whatever.

SCH aren't bad, they're just not as good.

You can level up other classes and crafting/gathering classes still.

Some outfits accentuate them and some compress them, so if you want to play safe and don't like them looking to large, go with 80%ish. Otherwise its all preference

c@ come in many flavors and sizes, you will be happier if you can learn to appreciate them all

Idunno, I feel more comfortable when there's another AST or a WHM in my party, but I guess that's because I know what they can do, while SCH is a mystery box to me and all I know is that I should use diurnal sect when healing with them.

Low level sleeveless doublets look nice, any bikini sans the vested one since that one compresses, hempen top. There are a lot of options so check out the market board and try everything on!

What did they do to scholars? I haven't played much but I remember that they used to be pretty great with all their shields and especially the crazy party buffs like increased healing, the attack speed one or the fairy hot that healed a shit ton. And they never ran out of mana either.

They run out of mana now, really easily at that.

How big is the problem? I remember being able to heal the 4 man dungeons almost entirely with the fairy.

It's really not as bad as people are saying. You just have to pay attention to your mana now and not spam adlos/succors.
Aetherflow and Lucid Dreaming is more than enough to make up the changes.

With the nerf to the fairy though the dungeons aren't completely healed by her so you have to deal with healing yourself from time to time.
