So I am looking more at the games lore lately, and after going through Pharos Sirius (The Sirens dungeon), I'm curious if anyone has an answer as to what the infected sailors and shit are actually "physically" infected with. They are under the spell of the Siren for sure, but physically they have what looks like orange aether crystals growing out of them.

The Siren isn't a Primal so what gives exactly?
