According to Oxford biologist Richard Dawkins, “We are machines for propagating DNA, and the propagation of DNA is a self-sustaining process. It is every living object’s sole reason for living.” However, since atheist fertility rates are among the world's lowest, while Muslim fertility rates are the world's highest, it seems that atheism keeps humans from fulfilling their purpose, while Islam helps humans fulfill their purpose. This leads to the odd conclusion that if making copies of DNA is our fundamental purpose, Richard Dawkins should convert to Islam!
Atheism, and the Dawkins Dilemma
>hehe got 'em!
DNA is our soul.
No no, it's that memes are the DNA of the soul.
>high fertility is good by default
Tell that to India
In a true atheist society women would have no rights and be cattle to be used to bred humans, christian morality is the origin of the European idea that women can be equal to men, in an atheist society logic is prime thus dating and even trying to impress a woman is a waste of time just rape them and get the new human started already.
Love thats nonsense in your brain to make you stay long enough to raise your baby and not kill your lover as well.
>christian morality is the origin of the European idea that women can be equal to men
You're right, feminists do seem to have gotten their whineniness and moral crusading from you lot
...
sidenote: Octopi have different DNA set than rest of the species
so much that they are technically aliens
>it seems that atheism keeps humans from fulfilling their purpose
The primary purpose of all living organisms is to convert energy from one form to another, and religion has no impact on the ability to fulfill that purpose.

DNA is an information storage device.
It's a code language vastly superior to anything we have today. The thought that it "evolved" from exploding stars is such absolute rubbish that you would have to want it to be true to believe it.
>I have absolutely no clue how time, physics, or chemistry works...
I know. But maybe some day you will.
Dawkins could try to make the argument that atheism has some unknown long term growth potential, but he'd have nothing to justify it with.
Otherwise the dominant social orders would be atheistic instead of religious, which they are not.
But maybe space travel requires astronauts to not believe in God.
>DNA is an information storage device.
DNA is the information stored within the cells of the body.
But on a certain level I agree that the presence and genetic uniformity of life on earth seems counter intuitive, and cannot really be explained by "lol lipids were floating around in a warm pool one day and then congealed into a bubble, which then started dividing and multiplying for no reason".
>atheist fertility rates are among the world's lowest, while Muslim fertility rates are the world's highest
correlation=/= causation. The gulf states are the most conservative muslim countries yet they also have the lowest birth rate.
The confounding factor here is that poverty leads to high fertility, and muslim countries are predominantly poverty-ridden shitholes barely worth your time, whereas countries with high instances of atheism tend to be more developed.
I'm saying this despite it being an obvious bait thread.
>high fertility isn't good by default
that you have to explain why it isn't good in a singular case suggests that all things considered, high fertility is generally better than low fertility.

>For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Jesus himself took women in as disciples, something unheard of in the priestly class. Jews at that time considered women to be the total inferiors of men.
Maybe that feminism emerged from a Christian Europe but from no other religious groups (except for a few egalitarian pagan groups belonging to the Celtic and Norse cultures) suggests that there is something in the Christian ethos that considers all people to be equal in the eyes of God.
You're mistaking "reason" and "purpose". We have no purpose in life.
>We have no purpose in life.
That's not true.
The purpose of EVERY living thing, be it man, or bacteria, is to convert energy from one form to another.
Why?
Who fucking knows, but that's why we exist...
It is purpose that created us, purpose that connects us, purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us; it is purpose that defines, purpose that binds us. So without purpose, why are we still here?
Sage in all fields.
1) You are forgetting that Dawkins outside of being atheist is also a proponent of memetics, which is basically what he's saying here
2) You are misunderstanding the meaning of the word 'purpose' in this context, it's not purpose in the philosophical way but purpose in the way of 'what it ends up working towards' it's the same sense of purpose as evolution has (survival) it is a common misconception that this is supposedly necessarily 'good', this misconception lead to social darwinism among other things
David Wood is fucking based, but this video is by far the worst video he has ever made. By far.
>so much that they are technically aliens
What. I don't know a shit about biology, but sauce.
It sounds like a hentai.
The DNA of our somatic cells take damage as it replicates over and over again, eventually leading to dying cells which is what ages us.
In order for our DNA to pass on, it must then be passed on before our DNA decay is complete.
This is an incredibly depressing thought to me. That we are just a storage of information in what seems to be a fruitless pursuit of continued life.
Yes, your worldview sucks ass. I suggest ditching it.
I can't choose what to believe in.
are you really this stupid to believe there is any dilemma here ?
The only "dilemma" is that we know that smarter people tend to procreate less. But it's not really a dilemma since dumb people enjoy life more anyways.
