WW1 lead directly to WW2, so they can scratch the surfice of WW1 by talking about WW2. WW2 is more profitable to make films and shows about. WW1 is way more complicated than WW2. WW2 can be clearcut blamed on the Nazis - WW1 you have to explain a clusterfuck of treaties and rising poltical and social tension.
WW1 was a gaint clusterfuck. WW2 can be seen as clear cut Us vs Them - Good vs Evil.

But at least you can say that you're the victim. WW1 doesn't have victims, even smaller nations like Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania jumped into war with the same bloodlust as others.
