Since we're talking about how unique and fun assassin is (the most fun vocation [objectively]), can anyone else not get enough of intimate gamble? It's extremely basic but so satisfying to use, and does great damage and stagger. I never take it off

you can't use them without stamina limitations until level 51 or some shit, if you didn't know already

nope, only mage. Sorcs get voidspell which clears the more dangerous ailments though. MK gets a spell that puts things to sleep and MA gets a spell that slows things, both of which are really good spells that don't appreciate much use because few people meme with staff on those vocations.

Sorc's buffs last longer. MK's are stronger though iirc, and buff everyone at once instead of one target at a time. Kind of a matter of taste but I find playing MK feels like you're constantly racing buff timers while using shit with excruciating charge times, but if you're playing MK as pure support, trances will be better than affinities and you can even use the staff to put shit to sleep (or cast the longer-lasting affinities).

Oh, I forgot about spellscreen. It's like a purely defencive version of MA's magic rebalancer, it has to be cast four times for full effect but actually doubles defences. So yeah, that's useful, but only if you are getting hit or your pawns are warriors/sorcs that rely on huge charge timers so just helping them up isn't acceptable, and only if the player is using it since pawns aren't smart enough to cast it four times in quick succession to stack it.

Fair enough but I mean more in the sense of "there is no one class that does everything assassin does, though a few classes cover everything it does and does them better." Three different vocations do everything a mage does and more, and just one of those also does the mage things better than mage does.

I didnt know that no other class has healing (didnt really mess around with anything sorcery and buffing) Now i only need to test how viable andonyne is in a realistic scenario (fate chamber) and that buff sounds pretty strong, casting it 4 times shouldnt be a problem eiher since its a buff bot anyway, either you like it or not. So speaking coimpletely from a buff perspective (ignore debuffs mk/ma) mage would probably come out on top right?

The fact that a few specific other things are more fun and versatile doesn't make mage less fun or versatile, it makes those more fun. Mage is still a lot more fun than assassin and a lot more versatile than any non-blue vocation.

MA also gets a spell that buffs stagger res and another that protects the whole party from ALL ailments (but it's a preventive measure rather than a reactive one), and holy affinity allows pawns to heal themselves with their attacks (holy's special effect is lifesteal). On top of that magic rebalancer doubles magick defence and magic ATTACK, which is obviously insane paired with sorc pawns. So I would say that just like with everything else MA is probably the best buffing class.

I don't even hate assassin. I've just played at least three runs as every vocation save mage (because there's no point in not switching to sorc even if you're just using mage spells in BBI, which is primarily where I play), and of those 8, the only one that has made me want to play a different one the whole time I played it every time was assassin. Everything it does just feels like a disappointing version of something else, and in turn makes me miss the way cooler things that something else can do that assassin simply can't. It's a jack of all trades, master of none scenario, except without the versatility that implies since its two primary weapons function almost identically.

Meh and ugh. MK maybe worth a spin. Something interesting i noticed about mage and that green ehaling spell tho, pawns that a hurt (around 15% hp) prioritize healing above all else, making it pretty interesting tool to command pawn navigation (maybe even force/focus them on a single target/targets in a specific radius). That could be a pro for mage being not the worst class (and neither assasin!!!)

By the time you've got your buffs out as a mage everything will already be dead. MK and MA sort the entire party at once in a quarter of the time. It ain't a contest.

You're retarded because your entire argument for why assassin is bad is that three other classes do what it does better, and the same is true for mage. Both MK and MA can bring a staff for spells and use their shield/bow to buff the party far more effectively than a mage can (which you also state right there) and carrying a handful of curatives is ten times more effective than anodyne.

It has unique skills. This is fact. You cannot do bow+sword or dagger+shield with any other build. This is fact. You need to stop getting hung up on optimization and efficiency in a game that's easy as fuck regardless of what you do.

Probably a matter of preference but dont forget that the dagger equivalent of the bomb skill is worse in radius and ground attack making it ultimativly inferior to the bomb in a heavily crowded scenarios. And how is clarvoyance bad when compared to other evasion skills? Its spamable and comes with free counter damage. I dont really get what other classes are doing better besides maybe damage, which is out of sicussion since daggers have just about any relevant single target damage skill that is worthwhile

Full moon slash also has iframes and does damage, and even has a similar animation to clairvoyance, and the real kicker is that since it's generic assassin even gets it in addition to clairvoyance. Perfect blocks knock shit flat on its ass, and I don't know how anyone could argue that's less satisfying than clairvoyance or *teleports behind u* kill.

In the final battle, how far can I go back to my Pawn version of my Arisen before triggering the ending? Can I talk to it? What happens if I kill the NPCs in the fight/hallway? I assume nothing would happen, but still. Do each say something, or is it only Quina, Julien, randomly picked ones?

The fact you think all the options it has are weaker versions of what other classes can do doesn't change that it has more of those options at its disposal, and as such is more fucking versatile you actual moron.

It differs by vocation, MK and assassin take the most yet for some reason (read: some dev loved the shit out of the class and gave it every semi-reasonable edge possible) MA requires 4500 less DCP to hit rank 9 than the other hybrids. Next highest is sorc, then warrior, then best vocation ranger, and the basic vocations are tied for fastest ranking.

Non-MA hybrids are 50600 total/14500 from rank 8 for rank 9, basic vocations are 29000 total/7500 from rank 8 for rank 9, so the difference is pretty huge.
