Oh god I'm slapping myself on the inside and trying my hardest not to on the outside. Kinda nice to see an old match of mine though considering I haven't been archiving them, and yeah it's cool to see how far I've gotten compared to just three months ago.

Would Dizzy be worth learning as a Ky main? She seems pretty fun.
Joshua King
She's very, very different
No DP and a lot more in terms of zoning, to name a couple things
Adrian Green
No DP would probably help me out a lot so I would learn to block instead of mashing on wake-up
Her special moves, especially the laser one reminds me a lot of Ky's grinder set-ups, which is my favorite part about him.

Is anyone around who can help me learn Slayer? Maybe in a lobby w/ some matches or something? I'm a complete beginner.

if you really like kys oki options, dizzy is a good natural path for you to ky in that direction. her oki is quite strong and honestly can be played in a quite similar manner to ky once you get around some of the larger differences to how they approach certain situations.
if you need help learning her, im usually lurking this thread and i can give you a hand

I was told this was the best dustloop for universality and general damage (not optimal for either though)
however I'm having some difficulty comboing the fafnir without it going gray
is it better to learn the 'classic' dustloop with multiple sets of j.d, or has that been obsoleted in xrd? I can do it in accent core for like 2-3 reps but in xrd I know you need to micrododge it to loop it now.
Leo Watson
meant difficulty with the combo on characters like may with low weight
no problems doing it on the heavier characters
should I do a j.d j.d microdash j.d j.d.... instead?
John Jackson
Baiken is cute. Almost makes me want to learn how to play her.

Sort of an unrelated question, but what do you people use to make decent quality webms? I've been using ffmpeg, but even with higher quality settings mine come out looking blurry like webm related. I've experimented with other codecs but Veeky Forums seems pretty picky with what types are allowed.
Also page 10 go away

>Her and Robo-Ky have placeholder nameplates and so on. I thought that was confirmed fake.
>It's also possible to fish a set of alternate colors for Ariels' figure in digital figure mode but you cannot select it which is really suspicious. That sounds pretty interesting however.
I really wouldn't mind those two being next. Robo-Ky is a logical pick for a returning character and the game really could use a playable villain like Ariels.
Robert Wood
Just up the bitrate and cut down on the resolution and fps if needed.
Ryder Hill
I did try to raise the bitrate, but it didn't do much of a difference aside from raising the file size dramatically. Somehow never thought of lowering the framerate so I guess I could try that and see how much higher it will allow the bitrate to go. Will try it later and maybe post a GG webm then.
Kayden Young
Dizzy is definitely a hefty process to learn. The sheer amount of set up option she have is staggering even for a GG character. Watching her being played now and her success try show how much the character's meta get evolved compared to how it was when she was first released. Her damage is pretty good and also very difficult to burst. It was a shame that no top Dizzy traveled to America for Evo this year.
Nicholas Long
I don't think you NEED micro dashes in the dustloop but it makes them easier.
for a universal route you'd do starter > j.d > j.d > fafnir > 6p > 5hs/2hs > sj j.d xx 214k into 623hs or 6p xx 236k.
you can also do classic dust loop, it's starter j.d j.d j.d j.d dash j.k/j.s j.d JC j.s j.d VV ender.
for fafnir whiffing, know that if you're trying it against light characters like most of the girls you gotta delay the timing of the JC off of the 5hs/2hs. for fafnir connecting in general, realize you have a pretty big input buffer for it to come out and you have a lot of time on the ground to get it out. don't rush it, just learn the timing. turn on auto tech in training and know that if they tech out you just gotta get it out faster.

ffmpeg. Don't lower the framerate, it looks shitty. You want to do 2 pass encoding and calculate the bitrate according to file size, on Veeky Forums getting as close to 3072 kb as possible.
Target filesize in MB is found by 1024 * 8 * n. So for a 3 mb webm you want to divide 24576 by the length in time to get your bitrate. So for an 8 second webm like you posted, you would use a bitrate of roughly 3072k (in practice you can go a little higher because of mpeg compression). If there's too much happening and the filesize is too big then slowly decrease this, you might have to use the `-maxrate` flag to try to force it under a size.
If you must reduce something then you should reduce the resolution and in the webm you made you should crop. You can dump frames from a video with ffmpeg or take a screenshot and take it into paint to figure out the boundaries.
I would crop yours like this (webm converter lets you get in the vicinity but isn't the most accurate if you have an older version) >-vf "crop=1200:800:360:0" You can also scale in combination with cropping and end up with a 600x400. >-vf "crop=1200:800:360:0,scale=-2:400"
For 1080p footage, you want to stick to nicer scales like -1:720, -1:540, -1:450, -1:360, -1:270 when you go down in resolution. It's not as big of a bug anymore but some media players don't like odd resolution webms so you should use -2 instead of -1 to get an even resolution height or width.

I can't put all of it at once on a free dropbox account, but I have a complete personal collection that I've built over the years.
I have stuff like Sound Alive special editions, the official sound box bonus CD, The official full OST to GG1 (the original release was missing character ending themes), live performances, the Japanese, NY and LA vocals. Everything. I just can't upload it all at once to my dropbox.
If any of you want anything specific, just let me know and I'll try to make a link when I get off of work.
Luis Reyes
Thank you, user! You say you like Overture the best. My only exposure so far has been Xrd. Is there any stylistic difference in the music between the two? I assume Ishiwatari still composed Overture, but sometimes an artist's style evolves over time.
Julian Martin
Wait, listening to Juno now, it says the artist is "Norichika Sato". Is Ishiwatari not doing the music to Guilty Gear now?
Chase Ward
Play who you want dude. Yeah there's some annoying shit to deal with in the game, but if they're complaining to you instead of getting good and dealing with it then they're the shitters.

>sometimes an artist's style evolves over time That's something that applies to Daisuke more than some people realize. Not just with his music either. It's the same for his art.
Some people complained that Xrd's art style looks too "anime" or that they hate the fact that it was changed at all. But the truth is that the jump to Xrd is the 4th art style change. Daisuke changes his style all the time to keep himself fresh.
For example, the Xrd style is something that evolved from his artwork on GG Isuka, where he started to do better with faces and gave characters more angular proportions to the small details of his anatomy.
As for music, it's one of those things where I'd personally argue that GG2 Overture is the GG aesthetic at it's absolute best. Unfortunately that's mostly regulated to the art book as very little of it transitioned well to 3D. The OST for Overture matches that, as it still uses Hard Rock and Classic Heavy Metal as a base, but uses traditional, symphonic instruments and fantasy metal elements *very* sparingly and puts a lot of thought into where to add them and how. Asuka's theme in GG2 is an amazing example of this (youtube.com/watch?v=I3GFwJ4IwAQ).
Overall, GGs aesthetic evolved over time, but it's always been a very calculated mix of contemporary visual elements combined into a quasi-Gothic, Ironpunk themed world, with splashes of visual design elements from Trigun, NGE, Hellsing, classic horror, old D&D art and so on.
I feel like GG2 Overture's design works was the most spot on this practice has ever been. Both visually and with the soundtrack and audio design.
Lincoln Mitchell
>I feel like GG2 Overture's design works was the most spot on this practice has ever been. Shame the game itself doesn't seem to have been well received, which probably means we won't get another 3D entry of that sort anytime soon.
Austin Scott
I think Xrd's artstyle is the best, the previous entries look kinda weird to me.
Daniel Miller
exhentai.org/g/409042/87a30593cf/ Assuming you can get past the panda, here's a high quality scan of the GG2 art book. The gallery link is SFW.
There are a lot of reasons GG2 wasn't very well recieved. Mostly because the license for the series was still in purgatory at that point and people were concerned if this was going to be the only way we'd ever have a GG game again. Myself included.
Other factors like very few returning characters, Dizzy having to be referred to as "The Maiden of the Grove" because Sega still had her name copyrighted at the time, the single player campaign being an overall poor representation of the game, the game itself having to be released on Xbox 360 only because the PS3 couldn't handle having that many models on screen (which is a much bigger deal in Japan than the US), the fact that the Xbox could barely handle it too, and over all being a very poor transition to 3D despite the beautiful and interesting design works, all played a hand in leaving GG2 to be pretty much only remembered because it's very important to the canon.
Tyler Myers
Is that the gear making machine
Daniel Howard
I'd say that the GG1 art style is my favorite, but GG2's design works are the best IMO.
I do love the Xrd art style and it was good to see many visual elements return from GG2 in Xrd.
I think the best combination would be GG2's design works with Xrd's art style. which is pretty much what the extra story stuff in Rev2 and most of Revelator's story delivers on.
That's a Masterghost. More specifically Sol's Masterghost. In GG2 it functions as a home base/your health bar. The idea in GG2 is to attack the opposing forces Masterghost until it breaks, that's how you win.
From a lore standpoint, a Masterghost is an object that's meant to house part of a person's soul, and shelter it away from your body. That way if you die, then your soul (or backyard information to be more specific) goes back to the Masterghost and effectively revives you as you were before you died. It's the same process for Valentines to merge with Justice in Xrd's story. It's implied that Justice's gear body also functioned as an exceptionally powerful Masterghost.
The idea is that you can't die when it's physically made in the world. But if it breaks, then you die no matter what. It has use for captains in war that need to be on the field.
A masteghost will look very different from person to person, and it's appearance is decided by a physical representation of the users psyche. Sol's looks like a tortured man struggling under the weight of heavy machines because it represents his guilt for having been involved in the Gear project as well as how he treated Aria near the end of her life and not being able to raise his daughter, it also represents the weight of his fear of not knowing if he has a place in the world as a monster and the fear that Dizzy being his daughter would mean that Aria was Justice, whom he killed.
Pic related is Sin's Masterghost.
Christopher Murphy
The thing about GG2 that's great if you're a lorefag is that it goes into extreme detail on how magic in GG works, as well as confirms existence of the Backyard. All of this was left very vague until GG2 and it is something that you can make sense of as far as fictional science goes.
In other words, magic in GG had been very vague but then GG2 gave it consistent rules that fits in the established world both before and after they explained it.
Oliver Ward

Decided to give "Ride on Time" a listen after your response, and the first thing that comes to mind is F-Zero X. I love it. What specific genre of rock/metal would you call this?
Asher Cook
This is a blue board, please understand.
Landon Howard
>F-Zero X My nigga. I don't know exactly what genre it would fall under, but I'd argue it counts as Hard Rock.
Sin's themes tend to sound very similar to Aerosmith's style of hard rock.
If you have a chance, try out Dr. Paradigm's theme; "Intellect Reason and the Wild". It's also really damn good as well as unusual.
Nicholas Moore
I also like how any character that got the ability to use Soul Sinkers (servants that are summoned from your masterghost, given physical form out of your soul) still has them after GG2. For example, Sol still using Fire Wheel (summon-able motorcycle) in Xrd Revelator.
The thing with Sol is that he's much stronger than any of his servants, so he doesn't use much others than Firewheel after GG2. He did have an elite one called Queen, that could instant kill anything she touched (although could only stay summoned for a very short amount of time). Pic related.
Elijah Edwards
>He did have an elite one called Queen Sol's a huge dork, of course he'd call it that. It makes me sad that GG2 wasn't so much a good game as a cool hunk of lore, art, and music.
