I'd say they're power-creeped in general.

I think the burgers are pretty solid. Their line has a bit of everything, only one stinker (T5) and some very rewarding T9/X ships. VMF have decent armament, but they are pretty fragile and not very manoeuvrable, so you can't take many risks with them.

RN battleships. For the most part they are better at being heavy cruisers than most nonspecialist heavy cruisers.

At 20km shell travel time is around ten seconds: you really have to keep your course and speed for quite a long time. On average if you look around you'll be able to dodge a BB's salvo.

Up to the Queen Elizabeth they play as a BB should play, maybe you have to close the distance a bit more than the others. Then you get to the KGV, which has the HE option, but plays like a heavy handicapped cruiser, and it's not really enjoyable. Then what follows is OP realm, but first you have to get there, and it's quite a grind.

No matter how well you dodge, it still takes only one max dispersion stray shell to remove half of your HP.
with 5 BBs per side its going to happen sooner than later

Its literally a 1 in 1000 hit, even if you hit youll just get a bounce or a overpen almost always. Worst case you eat one full pen for 4k damage which isnt even that bad

BB tend to blob up, meaning at any given moment you're likely to have to avoid giving your broadside to just one direction. Depending on the cruiser, however you're also more likely to get overpenned than eating full damage or even being citpenned. This holds true in higher tiers with newer ships, while in lower tier it's a much bigger problem, also due to the fact that engagements happen at relatively short ranges.

Every little faggot cruiser that gets in my range just spams HE shells and I lose 60% of my health from fucking fires because the designer was too retarded to put a metal deck on the ship

If you stay at max range you can avoid cruiser fire entirely.
Staying close to the map border is a superior tactical choice since you can chose when to start and when to end an engagement, you stay out of the reach of HE and torpedoes, and you can make use of the border to make impossible on-a-dime turning maneuvers to outplay enemy BB fire.

This way you save your HP for the lategame whenever you need to carry the team, and save yourself repair costs whenever MM gives you a shit team in an unwinnable match.

You can heal 100% of fire damage and you're still whining. If you can't figure out how to hide yourself when you're under too much pressure then the easiest class in the game is still too hard for you. Go play one of those little faggot cruisers and learn what it's like to have to try.

German line ends in fun but the road to it is best described as bumpy.
French line is one of the most standard cruiser line that only goes fast.
Both are pretty forgiving against other cruisers but can grab some BS citadels here and there
