Why did the UK let iceland push them around in the cod wars when the brits were the good guys for once?

Because watching the GUIK gap was more important than getting them cod.

This being said, Britain should have invaded and genocided.

The UK didn't "let" Iceland push them around.

The United States forced the UK to give up their fishing grounds to Iceland so that the Icelandic would stay in NATO and allow US troops to be stationed there. It devastated most of the UK's coastal towns and is amusingly a major factor in the UK leaving the EU, since many people in cities like Hull and Grimsby blame the EU for it happening.

Britain in the 1970s was truly at its lowest point.

Kek, America is truly awful

>Kek, America is truly awful

Basically everything that caused Britain's desolation in the second half of the 20th century was the fault of the U.S.

>WW2
America only joins in exchange for the UK paying billions, gives up all of its overseas colonies and hands over leases on military bases (in exchange for 50 shitty obsolete destroyers).

>Suez
America demanded the UK retreat to keep the Arabs on their side instead of the Soviets permanently humiliating them and leading to 20 years of foreign policy chaos for Britain.

>Europe
After Britain ruins itself financially to defend itself against Germany, the U.S single handedly rebuilds Germany and turns it into Europe's most powerful state as a bulwark against the Soviets.

>Prime Minister Harold Wilson's continual refusals to send any British troops to Vietnam, even as a token force, despite President Lyndon B. Johnson's persistent requests, was partially due to the Americans failing to support Britain during the Suez Crisis. Edward Heath was dismayed by the US opposition to Britain during the Suez Crisis; as Prime Minister in October 1973 he refused the US permission to use any of the UK's air bases to resupply during the Yom Kippur War, or to allow the Americans to gather intelligence from British bases in Cyprus.

Karma is a bitch.

>the U.S single handedly rebuilds Germany and turns it into Europe's most powerful state as a bulwark against the Soviets.
>...Except its split and with a toned down army.
There's a popular saying about NATO: NATO keeps "the Americans in (Europe), the Soviets out, and the Germans down."

>le beedy eyed anglo xD

Congratulations on getting brainwashed by a german t*rk.

What goes around comes around, after all. I don't believe in individuals paying for their ancestors' crimes but nations are organisms in their own right and sometimes it can't be helped.

>toned down army

Because tens of thousands of US and British troops were stationed there. Not having to spend much money on a military is half of the reason why modern Germany is so wealthy.

>its split

Only because the Soviets grabbed the east. That wasn't the fault of the Americans. Even the west alone was powerful, but the US allowing East and West Germany to unify has turned Germany into a European economic superpower.

>nations are organisms
Which is nothing but a collection of individuals

And yet the "greatest ally", "special relationship" delusion is effective even to this day. Very strange

not him but watching britain squirm and be reduced to america's poodle while the french kept their colonial influence intact is pretty fucking funny.

It is just Brits way to cope with the fact that in less than a century they've been reduced from the greatest empire in the history of the world into a protectorate of their former colony.

Organisms are nothing but a bunch of cells

get fucked you brit fags. should've let us have our independence and left.

Vikings are Britons cryptonite, Lindisfarne, Hastings, Cod wars to pic related, Viking kick the shit out of Anglos!
It is the natural order of things!

Woah

>people in this thread pretending that modern industrial fishing is in any way sustainable long term for the planet

The UK transitioning out of resource extraction based industries has only ever been detrimental in the short term.

>the french kept their colonial influence intact

good joke

The French got BTFO by a bunch of rice farmers and Arabs. Now they are the ones being colonized.

They literally exploit Africa and gain millions doing it, Nigels

>anglos
>theyre all of them nigs

The UK got a ton of Marshall aid too, but they spent it all on trying to maintain "muh empire" which ultimately failed because Britain just didn't have the resources to stay at the same level of power as the US and USSR.

t. Spengler

Rule Britannia amirite?

Vikings>Poms>Coons>Vikings

w-we did though.
The USA would be better off, the UK & the world would be better off if that schism never happened though.

Tee bee aytch, Chamberlain made this inevitable.

I mean, the Germans were the ones who made the European colonial empires untenable by starting two world wars, inventing communism, and then spreading communism to Russia where it could become a superpower and prey on the weakened colonial empires.

But Germans don't have sentience, so you can't really blame them, you can blame Chamberlain for refusing to defend his allies before it was too late.

The US was just doing what it needed to do to manage the communist infestation before it overwhelmed the civilized world in a wave of German autism.

>After Britain ruins itself financially to defend itself against Germany, the U.S single handedly rebuilds Germany and turns it into Europe's most powerful state as a bulwark against the Soviets.

Actually, G-B got a lot more financial aid from the US than Germany. However, a large portion of it was spent on the military, and Germans had more leeway for retooling their industries than the Brits.

>they spent it all on trying to maintain "muh empire"

That is straight up incorrect. From 1945 the empire was quickly dismantled. It was only delayed in parts of Asia and Africa where you would have a fucked up Palestine style civil war and ethnic cleansing if you didn't withdraw slowly.

The Brits were the good guys in the Falklands. That's it.

>It's another anglo hate thread

That's not the reason they withdrew and they actively resisted the end of it.

They got cucked

>tee bee aytch

Only replying to your post to let you know how horrible that was, please do not do it again. Literally subtracted from the actual substance of what you posted.

>what is Suez?

>>what is Suez?

Literally the exception that proves the rule. If you think getting pissed off at Nasser for nationalising the Canal and plotting to overthrow him is the same as trying to conquer Egypt you are mentally retarded.

>that one time iceland has a resource surplus on you
never again
