What does Veeky Forums think of Neville Chamberlain

He is unfairly remembered. He bough Britain time so they could get their airforce enlarged.

Did everything right, but because he was dealing with literally Hitler reatrds now spout memes about him.

Good statesman, shitty luck.

>LOL "muh appeasement" what a fag

Remember that if Britain had immediately went to war as opposed to his appeasement things probably could have gone a lot worse for England.

So would Germany, guess it depends on what the Czechs do

Yeah, people see Chamberlain as they guy who let Hitler "get away with it" but in reality he probably knew full well that his agreement sure as shit wasn't the end of it.

I rank him higher than Churchill, Churchill really did very little of note beyond a few good speeches.

Asshole for not declaring war after the sundentland, at that point hitler had clearly taken his leash off
And if he had declared war then, then Poland would not become a soviet puppet
>Britain does worse
>America does not wave its dick into British foreign policy and the Cold War might not start

He got unfairly crucified. Germany was on the road to war for years and Britain did nothing to prepare for it. What the fuck was he supposed to do? And the end who really gets harmed? A bunch of Czechs? Bohemia was formerly a part of the HRE so its not even that big of a deal.

>few speeches
>denying this impact on morale
>implying this didn't affect American involvement
>ignoring his wishes to strangle bolsheviksim in its cradle
>ignoring how Gallipoli was his plan but they didn't follow it with the artillery barrage thus shattering Ataturks trench

I think you are-like so many-truly misunderstanding our role in the war.
Britain was not a fighting force to be reckoned with when we went toe to toe with Germany.

We survived thanks to Hitler's autism, excellent timed luck and fat soviet cock ramming the krauts in the ass after a while.

Britain did not beat Germany, Britain survived Germany.

>end of European dominance is fine because hitler got to GROSSDEUTSHXLAND XDDD for 2 years
>genocide of millions is acceptable because GROSSDEUTSCHALND
Summer sure has come

>not a fighting force to be reckoned with
Ever heard of the kriegsmarine, of course you didn't because the British navy neutralised them, Britain was still deep in the depression yet still survived, so imagine full stnregth Britain vs an early Germany

>Amidst biggest global economic crisis the world had ever faced
>Political support for guns understandably waned as people wanted butter
>Meanwhile, Germany is completely and wholly dedicated to rebuilding their armed forces and industrial base no matter the cost

Yes it is true without the soviets in our universes ww2 we would lose, but an early Germany could be stopped with a combined French and British or brought to a treaty the people would be forced to accept

American debt could still be taken, the colonies still exist to prioritise supplies, although leftists will still complain about famines despite literally being at war with a genocidal regime

Yes, but the German Naval Force wasn't a joke, it just didn't match up to the British one; Britain's Navy was very powerful, but they couldn't have won the war using it alone.

Full strength Britain? What the fuck does that even mean?
Britain at the peak of it's "strength" in World War 2 still would have been absolutely trumped by the krauts in a land war, Britain was spared due to the RAF getting VERY lucky in defeating the Luftwaffe which was a superior force-I'm not nazibooing here, I'm merely looking at the facts.

Britain survived through luck and Soviets.

>an early germany could be stopped if x and y happened

A combined French and British attack on Germany would have failed, as any form of posturing for a second war with the krauts would have been met with outrage from the people and France in particular had a nasty commie infestation.

Germany was a fucking great military force and in a war against France+Britain alone, they probably would have won.
Britain got very, very, very lucky and happened to survive long enough for the Soviets to show up and win the war for them, with a sprinkling of American supplies and support to make the British people feel like they beat fascism.

I feel like people who fantacise about Britain beating Nazi Germany are usually Hearts of Iron 4 fans who think how strong a nation is can be simply changed within a few years with some strongarmed button-presses and policy changes.

That's a big mic.

He was a big faggot who whispered soft words of appeasement in Hitler's ear while massively enlarging his air force so they could bomb the shit out of Germany. Oswald Mosley should have won.

I know HoI4 is a terrible game and regularly shitpost when people post it in /gsg/
I'm not saying in 6 years Britain and France then later Britiain alone would be able to win the war, but simply put, can the parallels not be drawn to napoleon thinking himself master and commander, the naval blockade which led to the potato winter was still firmly in people's minds, it was one reason why the German people cared little of promises made to the British, but keep it up and eventually that reigns will buckle and then in key battles the German army would have its back broken and popular uprisings would begin, maybe communist maybe fascists themselves but not Nazis
Also the French being communist matters little, nationalist and communists united in Russia when invaded sometimes so why could the French communists not do the same when their kind was executed publicly in Germany

>a fascist reactionary jew aristocrat who was an avowed member of labour and a proud socialist
Yeh no

>Britain was spared due to the RAF getting VERY lucky in defeating the Luftwaffe which was a superior force-I'm not nazibooing here, I'm merely looking at the facts.
No, you're not. See pic related for why even a Luftwaffe victory in the BoB is meaningless.

>Germany was a fucking great military force and in a war against France+Britain alone, they probably would have won.
Yeah, they would have done so well without any armored force to speak of, since this is a war breaking out over the Sudetenland and no chance to absorb Czech industry. Now, instead of having a couple of months of halfhearted gearing up, you have a couple of years of the same, and the combined economies of the UK and France dwarf that of Germany.

He made logical moves, but failed to understand that he was dealing with an unrational actor. He was also forced by politics of the day into his actions. But, losing norway is unacceptable.
