Guy asks me to spot him on ohp

>guy asks me to spot him on ohp
>too embarrassed to ask him how to do it and don't want to make a fool of myself
>tell him I need to go in 2 minutes
>I was only just warming up at the start of my workout
>feel obliged to leave the gym anyway or else he'll think I was lying
>didn't workout today

workout is a noun, not a verb

you don't deserve gains.

Why didn't you just ask him how

Lol you just press their elbows

>spotting an ohp

Literally the only exercise besides diddys that fails in the same motion that it works in. Impossible and needless to spot.

could you see his bulge through his basketball shorts?

I didn't wanna look like an idiot

Just keep your hands below his elbows, almost touching.

If he starts struggling then touch. If he stalls midway apply a small amount of inward-upward pressure and gradually increase pressure if he doesn't get it up himself.

Always finished with "nice one" or something like that once he's finished. Especially if you had to help him.

but now you are an idiot instead of just looking like one

No.
Spotting OHP is stupid.
Just tell him "no".

I assumed he meant seated DB. Good to have a spotter for those if going heavy. Dropping them at an awkward angle can really tear shit up.

>autism: the post

you don't deserve gains

Giving advice that you wouldn't take yourself.

Good one. Now go lick a shit.

Most people prefer that. Which is why the world sucks.

That's exactly what I would do.
Just a few days ago I declined a guy who asked me to spot him on squats.
He was doing them in a rack, so I said no.

Not everyone is a fucking pussy.

You're right. You are definitely one cool dude. Keep up the good work.

>at the gym today
>trying to break PR on OHP
>wanna ask somebody to spot me so I dont fuck shit up
>social anxiety kicks in, Im too scared to ask somebody
>think to myself: just do it man, conquer your fears
>muster up all my courage to ask a guy
>he says he has to leave
>can clearly see its some bullshit excuse
>anxiety kicks back in, all day worry if I did something wrong when I asked

W-why user

There's no reason to spot an overhad press or a squat when there's a rack for that exact purpose.

Just because you're too insecure to say no, doesn't mean someone else is a dick if they say no.

>asked a guy to spot me on dumb bell press
>told him to support my elbows, just need help on liftoff and maybe last two reps
>motherfucker places his hands on the sides of my elbows and does not assist me in anyway
>I fail the last rep
>he kind of nervously chuckles and says "maybe next time"

Was this you OP?

Come on man, you should have just said "I don't know how or I can't sorry. "
It's not like the guys inside the gym are gonna make fun of you
