Putting make up on a donkey

So you agree that the problem isn't that they tried to create something "baroque" but the fact they half ass it and build cheap shitty knockoffs, correct? You wouldn't see anything wrong with them building an actual baroque church.

I'm all for this.

No fucking form or idea just random buildings

>So you agree that the problem isn't that they tried to create something "baroque" but the fact they half ass it and build cheap shitty knockoffs, correct? You wouldn't see anything wrong with them building an actual baroque church.

Well i don't like baroque in general but yes, i would have no problem if it was a legit baroque church or building, again i prefer neoclassical but what ever it is it needs to be done right. Try and guess what purpose this magnificent palace has, guess what royal family lives here, and try to guess its """style"""" if there is one

For those of you interested its the seat of the State company for PLUMBING AND SEWAGE

I have to rinse my eyes with some good architecture

...

Reminds me of Azerbaijan.

...

Thats offensive to the Azeris, it actually reminds me more of Turkmensitan, where they built a giant golden statue that revolves around the sun of the president and renamed months after his family members or something. A bunch of sick maniacs went on a power trip in Macedonia and decided to permanently change the country.

How did we go from
Firmitas, utilitas, venustas
To
Form ever follows function
To
Fuck beauty make some boxes and put glass lmao

>kinda looks like legos, pretty cool
Only autists like lego past the age of 12.

>columns not on the ground or supporting anything
>triglyphs not on top of the columns
>half out instead of 3/4

Resource to recognize good architecture

The placement of the text makes me glad we don't do that anymore, instead putting in completely on the middle of the entablature

Check this one out, the entrance is on the right, even though it makes more sense for it to be on the front, and just check out the columns here

Yeah it looks like a sign

...

>those huge arched windows
Bro
a+b / a = a / b

It's that easy

>that free standing entablature
>corinthian below ionic

Kitsch pride worldwide

Square columns are legit in many cases

If this building got built several centuries later (I know it was technically rebuilt after the war, but in the original style), pseuds would be screaming MUH KITSCH like crazy.

what's kitsch about it? If you're comparisng it to skopje i have zero comment

gone but not forgotten. Rip in peace

>you will never live a 21st century need life in kowloon

This one felt like a punch to the gut.

What's skopje?

Kowloon is still there. I ate in a place like that in Singapore too actually.

Kowloon =/= Kowloon Walled City you fuckretard.

the most kitsch city in the world

kowloon is irrelevant without the walled city, it's just another part of hong kong

you know what i meant, fuck off

*blocks your path*

What ever style this is

...

You are irrelevant because you have no idea what you're talking about.

Never thought that an architecture thread would ever get so fast, especially with how they usually tank on /int/.

Truly the ugliest European city

I wish there was a GOOD architecture history podcast

>he needs people physically talking to him because he's too stupid to read

Even though it is intensely ugly there's something very cool about being there in person.

i love palatial complex

In the past /int/ architecture threads were very regular
There was some polish autist but he went to kc now

Just read vitruvius nigga

Durham is beautiful

Warwick

Highclere castle

i like crooked medieval houses, reminds me that buildings are more stable than they may seem

Shakespeare's house

is he at home?

His ghost is

Ollie crommer's house

my city has an odd mix of architecture

damn he really does a bad job mantaining it

I really don't like Brutalist buildings that much but if we're gonna keep them around it /needs/ some powerwashing once in a while. The patina on concrete looks way more disgusting than charming.
