Quitted smoking a month ago, had been smoking like a pack a week for 5 years or something. I realized it's bad for me and I feel amazing now. I learned to totally hate the smell of the smoke, I can't breathe when I smell it.
However, there's still that adiction kind of thing, I simply need those little 5 minute pauses in my day when I just stood outside and watched sky with a cigarete, had a little break from all that shit that makes me nervous. How to compensate for this? Smokers or ex-smokers sure understand me. What do you recommend to do instead of smoking? Drinking tea/coffee? I already do that and can't drink more.
I'm affraid I won't have enough power to not to start smoking again or start over eating or something.

Fucking chew gum. Read shit on your phone. Think about shit.
t. ex-half a pack a day smoker for 19 days

Quit smoking two months ago, was a 2-pack/day habit.

Ditch anyone and anything that was related to smoking, at least until you have zero temptation. I used to drink a lot of coffee with cigarettes, replaced that mostly with herbal teas.

I know herbal teas sound ridiculous, but let me tell you something user. I caught a guy mirin all the herbal tea in my shopping cart, and I could tell he was jealous at all the tea I had. Because he could see that I was enjoying my life not giving af

I quit smoking recently, but now I drink literally a liter of coffee every day

You're great, high energy, I like you.

I get what you mean but thinking about shit or reaing shit is exactly what you stop doing when you go for a ciggy

slowly getting there as well,lol

It's just a habit user. After a while, you'll learn to cope with those small downtimes like you did before you started smoking; by doing absolutely nothing. Cigarettes only give you a feeling of regularity because you smoked regularly. Once you stop smoking for a while, your mind expects it less and less until it does not expect it all.

It never goes away. I haven't smoked for three years and I still want one when the mood is right. My dad hasn't smoked in 30 years and he always wants one after he eats pizza.

You just have to want it but not do it.

Just get a vape dude. Ignore people who call it a "douche flute" or make jokes about. A rig that puts out thick enough vapour is basically as good as smoking, smells better, and tastes better.

Never could have quit without it.

Yeah, that's kinda related to what this user says

Dude, that's like being addicted on cola a replacing it with diet coke.
I thought that everyone on Veeky Forums would know that this is bullshit.

go outside, peel an orange, eat it, go back in.

repeat

Fuck mate.
Waking up in the morning.
Walking out of my house to the subway or the bus stop.
Right before walking into work.
Smoke breaks at work.
After a meal.
After getting out of work.
Right before walking into your house.
While watching your favorite show or a movie.
After having sex.
While drinking or smoking weed.
I am tempted every day.

Say what you want dude, but it works.

I smoked a pack of camels a day for years, then switched to black and milds, started coughing up blood and shit. Tried to quit multiple times but vaping was the only thing that satisfied the urge. Did that for about a year, slowly vaped less and less. Now my rig mostly just collects dust on my desk.

There is literally nothing wrong with diet soda.

>buh that fat woman at work says that if you drink 800 diet sodas you'll die

If you have it as an replacement for your adiction on sweetened drinks then it's bad, because it doesn't help you to get rid of the addiction, it just serves as a replacement.

what does that "t." means?

inb4 newfag lurk moar

Buy a pack of fisherman's friend or something. You either make it or are not ready yet.

I smoked a half pack a day for about 10 years. I quit about 2 years ago.
What said is true, you have to avoid anything smoking related. Bars, casinos, friends, ect.

Pro tip, you *probably* will smoke again at some point. Just know that you will always be addicted to it, and you are just taking weeks/months/year breaks of sobriety.

> I simply need those little 5 minute pauses in my day when I just stood outside and watched sky with a cigarete, had a little break from all that shit that makes me nervous. How to compensate for this?

Do something equally mundane and effortless. Take a nap, take a shit, connect the dots on the specs of black on ceiling tiles.

go take a shit. IT's good for you and you save toilet paper

Not him but I think the problem is that if your rig runs out of battery or you're out of juice at an inopportune time, you might be in danger of smoking again. It's definitely a weaning solution, but like all weaning solutions, it's only true effective when you have steady access, and nicotine is a product used every few hours.
Cold turkey is the only way to quit that allows me to build unconditional independence from our nicotine addiction.

>Pro tip, you *probably* will smoke again at some point
I won't. I already made up my mind.

t. means thanks or sincerely

Lol. No you will.
At one point or another. You'll just be able to stop yourself before you buy that pack the next time.

nigga just leave the batteries to charge over night and keep the tank full.

It's so easy.

Just smoke you faggot. You don't feel better you're just lying to yourself.

t. Smoker faggot who still lifts.

Go whack off in a toilet stall works for me

I quit a year and a half ago after smoking 10 a day for 12 years (more if drinking.) Trust me, it's still a little uncomfortable now but that just drops away eventually. When you feel weak, look at videos on youtube of people dying from lung camcer, warning others not to start. You'll be golden man, enjoy your lungs being clear

>Why aren't you weak willed like me you faggot?
I quit smoking a few years ago, feel much better

does your dick really get harder after quitting tho?

no, haven't noticed anything like that

How many days you been quit?

>RESULTS
>The severity of ED correlated significantly with the level of exposure to smoking. Age and ED status before the follow-up were not significantly different between 118 patients who stopped (ex-smokers) and 163 who continued smoking (current smokers). After 1 year the ED status improved in ≥25% of ex-smokers but in none of the current smokers; 2.5% of ex-smokers and 6.8% of current smokers had a deterioration in ED. Ex-smokers had a significantly better ED status after the follow-up (P = 0.009). Among ex-smokers, patients with advanced ED and those who were older had less improvement.

>CONCLUSION
>There is a strong association between the intensity of cigarette smoking and degree of ED. Stopping cigarette smoking can improve ED in a considerable proportion of smokers. Age and the severity of ED before stopping are inversely related to the chance of improvement.

keep it up OP, the first 3 months have some nasty cravings but after that you will be disgusted by the thought of smoking and (hopefully) never go back.

Personally, i used to hate smoking and walking at the same time so, whenever i had cravings, i'd go on a 2 mile walk or so and feel good for a good couple of hours. Hope you manage to quit for good.

I picked up half a pack camels / week for a few months
Self reflection and boxnding with mates is the two things that I get out of it.
Rather have 60 glorious years than live to 80 like a ducked phaggot
Consider cigars / pipes / e cigarettes if you want to leave your lungs alone

My dick gets significantly harder since I quit smoking / vaping. pack a day for 8 years then switched to vaping for about the last 6 months, quit cold turkey 2 weeks ago. Without nicotine in my system at all I have significantly more energy and I swear my cock is noticeably larger when erect now.

>Self reflection and boxnding with mates is the two things that I get out of it.

That's what you get, yeah. But sooner or later you realize there's much more you lost. You poison your mind and your body

Have people who have quite recently noticed changes in how they feel day to day?

I'm going to quit soon - recommended I read Alan Carr's "Easy was to stop smoking" by some friends who found success with it.

I´m on my 2nd year now. You will notice how bad you use to smell, when you are near people/friends smoking.

A month

The better feeling is mostly in your head. You can feel genuinely happy about yourself and improving your karma.

What about getting a vape with 0% nicotine liquid? If you just want to go outside for a few minutes, this might work. I know a guy who does it at work. He told me he never smoked in his life but he'd get pissed that smokers could take so many breaks. So he just uses it to get out of the bldg for a few minutes.

Quit recently too. About 2 months ago. Was on 30-40 per day. Would have about 3 during my little 5 minute breaks.

But yeah. What you described is the worst part... It's ALMOST like you are enjoying the "fresh air".. But just going out for fresh air for 5 minutes doesn't actually give you the same feeling. It's boring on it's own.

I've substituted it for a hip flask. I carry it about with me in my inside pocket. Have a little scotch in it. It's a really nice hip flask with nice weight to it. So I feel good unscrewing the lid and re-screwing the lid while taking sips during my little 5 minute breaks throughout the day. Can still do the same thing where you enjoy the air. And you're also doing something with your hand and mouth at the same time. It surprisingly gives a very similar disconnected from life effect. It's working for me anyway... But then again I guess this could just be a whole new problem. But it literally is just small sips.

>Hey user, if you want to quit smoking, start drinking!

You're bad at this help stuff.

The start of this post looked pretty promising but then came very unexpected twist.

I mean, maybe you really should start smoking again.

Herbal teas and peeling oranges the best posts so far.

t. is short for 'terveisin' which means 'regards' in finnish

So now you take your drug in a different form. Congrats especially considering no long term study exists on the negative consequences of vaping. Lets not even get into the fact you really have no idea what you are vaping as in almost every country there are no standards.

First you have to do it for you.

Second don't just quit today. Pick a day in advance like next Monday or Wednesday.

If you feel it is going to be difficult for you try patches.

When all else fails remember you cant smoke if you refuse to me matter what your brain or body craves.

You're a non-smoker, right?

Because you didn't get my OP at all.

Thanks for trying, though

I know it seems dumb but try vaping. It's pretty fucking enjoyable, and you can do it all you want. The trick is to find a set up that is so perfect for you that it is more appealing to you than having a smoke. (finding that can be expensive)

but seriously in the last year or two they've come out with tons of shit. you can now buy high wattage devices with tanks that have insane flavor and vapor production (as a former smoker you will find that enjoyable for some reason) and you can get a kit for like 70$

idk I love it, I'm so grateful for vaping. I hated smoking and felt extreme self hatred whenever I habitually smoked one despite not even liking it. I even got up to more than a pack a day when I moved in with another smoker a couple years ago. but 2016 was a smokeless year for me. my first since I was 12

Other than addiction, what are the downsides to nicotine?

Blood preasure and apparently even cancer. Personally I'd say it makes you more indifferent and resistant to emotions in long run. It definitely poisons your psychical health.

Anyway, nicotine isn't really the main health issue in cigarettes

nicotine causes minuscule muscle tremors

I really dislike the taste of coffee since I quit smoking

It fucks with your dick

I'd enjoy some fucking with my dick

>insane flavor and vapor production (as a former smoker you will find that enjoyable for some reason)

I quit smoking by vaping as well, and this is completely true.

First started vaping with nicotine, but slowly lowered the dosage. When I was down to 0 nicotine it felt weird to still vape somehow, so I quit that too. Now I only use it if I have a really bad craving (no nicotine though), but that doesn't happen very often either.

Prepare to fight through some vape hate though, in my circle of friends everyone was a douche about it (all of them smoke themselves), but yeah, hate fuels my motivation so fuck em. And in the end I don't think I couldve quit smoking without vaping.

Enjoy your cancer.

thats good and all but a pack a week for 5 five years?

i dont think your lungs will ever be close to optimal again

me personally i would smoke casually only with a hot girl then it's worth whatever happens

Not sure if being serious or on a very high level of sarcasm.

shitpost on Veeky Forums just like you're doing

OK, on my way.

Congrats user! I quit again 3 days ago, this morning was a little rough but got through it. Been a smoker for 9 years about a pack/day, but I started at a very early age (13). These last few years I decided to quit, I made it a month without a cig but I would always return, hopefully this was for life. My advice is; no matter how much you think that only one won't hurt, just to try it again or anything like that - do bot trust yourself, if you smoke another cig no matter how disgusting it is, you will want to take another one and you're back on start. Whatever you do, do not light another cig.

The last smoke I had was ~7 years ago. I smoked for a total of ~14 years. I quit multiple times most ended fairly shortly. This time and 2 times before that were the longest ~1 year and ~9 months.

Each of the three successful times have things in common. Each time I picked a stop date in the future. The patch was successful for me last time, but I also have had horrible failures with it.

I still love the smell of smoke and rarely crave one with the exception of warm day with the windows down stuck in traffic and then I smell it. If I could only have one I would, but I cant just have just 1.

I misread your original post my bad. If you are a month clean you got this. All you have to do is not have 1.

Whenever I get hit with a craving I just take a huge inhale and hold my breath as long as possible. Sounds weird I know, but it helps me.

OP here
I actually already broke it two times. Always at club when drunk. At both times I got a cigarette from another person and at both times I didn't finish it and didn't feel well after it. It actually kinda helped me to overcome cravings for few next days.

Put some ashes and cig butts in a water bottle and smell it if you have a craving.

I quit smoking two years ago nearly, I slowly started preferring my vape, then I stopped even wanting cigarettes as an alternative, if I run out of juice I just go cold turkey and the nicotine concentration is so low I don't even smoke.
Dislike the taste of cigarettes. I'll have one every six months to be social when I'm with a friend chatting and they want a cigarette.
It's just not something I enjoy.
I used to be proper addicted when I lost my vape i'd get cravings, but now I could easily not use it again. I do though because it's tasty and nicotine is good for memory and waking me up in the morning.
