What
It's a special type of joust run, invented under Maximilian I, called "Geschiftstartschenrennen". The mechanical shield has a spring mechanism, that when hit, throws out the pieces of the "Renntartsche" (jousting shield) in wedge-shaped fragments. Max really liked jousting.
Any more Teutonic pics? I'd really appreciate it
