The people who "take it seriously" don't even do crossfit to prepare for it. They do an entirely different program and then show up to compete.

Crossfit is a bunch of arbitrary exercises thrown that never encourage growth and often result in injury. The whole point of it is to get retards to spend money on "social fitness".

I just started taking a dude from work who did crossfit for years. Looked like shit and was weak as fuck. In 2 months he's seen more gains and growth than in 3 years. He thanks me all the fucking time too. Don't fall for meme fitness. There is no shortcut, no matter how many fucking people help you Deadlift 400 lbs

Crossfit is a test of physical ability, doing it as a training regime is dumb as hell. Training for one of these events would be more through regular lifting and cardio rather than trying to do 50 deadlifts in one set every training day.

The people at the top can actually do it because they're experienced lifters so their form holds together but novices just go to snap city since crossfit loves extremely form dependent maneuvers like oly lifts.

I think the problem lies with the consistency and reliability of training in crossfit gyms. It also attracts a lot of complete faggots for some reason. pic related

The difference between crossfit athletes and Joe shmo at the local crossfit box is the quality of the gym. Since crossfit has become so popular, all these meme places pop up teaching huge group bullshit instead of actual crossfit.

All the crossfit guys at my gym look like shit. Skinnyfat to fat manlets who snatch lmao1pl8 with knee and wrist wraps and use a belt for 2pl8 front squats. Then they shit the entire (relatively small) free weight area up doing farmer's walks with 15kg kettlebells and burpees dangerously close to people who are lifting during their weird AMRAP intervals.

I wouldn't care that much if it wasn't for the fact that they act like hot shit towards everybody though, like guys stop sneering at me when I'm curling at the end of my workout I pause deadlift more than your max

The winners are all manlets, though. My problem with cross fit is simply lack of talent in coaching, programming, etc--whoever decides their coaching. The way crossfit workouts look have changed a lot over the past decade, so much so that it seems for half of it's existence it had no idea what it was doing. Suddenly, they began using some slightly better principles which should have been obvious. This kind of thing makes the programming completely lose credibility in my eyes forever and the brand name is completely tarnished. Sure, it will get you "fit" but I find it way more efficient training in a system and routine which was developed by far smarter and more talented coaches, made to develop athleticism, not just this one highly specific definition of fitness which most would disagree with.

Also, Cross fit is obviously standard sports/athletics training with higher volume endurance work thrown in--what makes it different is marketing and image. It least in the big cities I've gone to, it's reputation to me is for attracting weak beta numales. For a system that is 99% marketing and image, the image is not very good.

Are you all really that stupid? If you do half-ass weight, form, intensity in crossfit, you're going to get shit results. If these same half-assers half-ass lifted weights, they would get shit results and hurt themselves all the same.

Yes, I do Crossfit, but I also Rx+ every workout. Higher weight, fewer reps, and keep the intensity up. I've been doing it for 9 months now and have surpassed most if not all of the numales in my gym that won't push themselves to lift heaver or go at a higher intensity. These same fuckers would not be getting huge with a traditional weight training program either.

You get out of it what you put in. The same goes for ANY training. Crossfit, Oly, traditional, who gives a fuck.

I lifted traditionally for a few years prior to CF and it was just boring to me. Having people to 'compete' with or push you is enjoyable.

But whatever, call it a meme. I'll take overall fitness any day.

I used to train crossfit and this is correct. Joe schmo crossfit is just exercise to make people feel good and sweat. There are specific programs for competitors that 80% resemble an olympic lifting program and the last 20% are the calisthenics and conditioning shit.

You’re going to do fewer reps at 180 lbs than 120 lbs for example. That’s... just how it works

The only people who don't realise this are those who've never participated in a sport even semi seriously. The guys in the highest levels of competition of almost all sport are hyper-selected for very specific physical capabilities. Selected from a pool of people who worked just as hard as them, and failed.

This is literally the entire marketing meme of CrossFit in a nutshell. It's literally NOTHING but glorified circuits with more expensive equipment that packages itself for mostly sedentary people as being about 'functional fitness' that will make them 'athletic.' This is, in a word, bullshit. Athleticism isn't trainable, and CrossFit isn't fucking 'training' anyway - it's exactly what said. Exercise designed to make people sweaty and tired so they FEEL like they've accomplished something when they've accomplished nothing.

It depends on the sport, certain ones have extremely specific body types that excel in them and then ones like Hockey are just bulk the fuck up and get good on skates for the physical aspect.

Certain sports though do have harsh body type cutoffs like you can't drive an F1 car if you're over 5'10 and if you're over 6'3 you basically don't get to drive anything other than NASCAR.
