You should really start using kettlebells for your shrugs instead of dumbbells. The round shape gives it a real even weight distribution that will help target belly fat. And drop weight down to 2.5kg to try to focus on more reps.

Yes but its not the hanging, its the jerk from the stop that really works the muscles. The secret is to stand on a chair or something then jump off. Make sure there are a few inches between your feet and the ground.
Bonus: this can also stretch you out over time and add inches to your height.

Given my height and history of injuries they are a safer alternative to deadlifts. I can focus on contracting my glutes, abdominals, hamstrings and erectors without worrying about lumbar rounding. Rack pulls have given me the greatest strength gains out of all the exercises I routinely perform.
>Olympic squats
Unlike traditional deadlifts I feel no pain in my lowerback from high bar olympic squats. I have yet to find a single exercise that has improved my athleticism and overall quality of life more than the oly squat. I have noticed improvements to my posture, gait, sleep and explosiveness since implementing them into my routine.
>Close grip bench press
Contrary to what many people have told me the close grip bench press has given me more chest development than a wider and more traditional grip. More importantly however is that the close grip protects my shoulders and forces me to use proper form and teaches me discipline.
>Weighted chin ups
The yin to the close grip bench presses yang. Done explosively just like the bench with a quick ascension and slow controlled descent. Adding a pull after every push prevents any excessive imbalances and has improved my overall strength and symmetry.

Holding the bar in front of the body with arms parallel to each other and perpendicular to the floor I focus all of the weight on the balls of my feet then contract the calves as hard as I can.
