I'm U are kinda right I did swimming and played football(soccer for amerifags) alot, but my knees got injured so I started lifting. I like the way I look right now more than 2012 + I love to lift heavy.
Insecurity came along too, but it didnt came only due to lifting. There were other stuff such as girls, Veeky Forums and weed that I personally blame. But I'm getting more confident day by day atm. Girls are drooling themselves every party I go to and I get mires from dudes almost daily so I realize theres nothing to be insecure about.

Nothing special about my diet. I supplement multivitamins (because I cant be arsed eating more veggies + its cheaper), vitamin D (I am living in the north), creatine, and protein on gym days.

My meal periodization is something like this
175g oats+500ml soy milk in the morning
postworkout shake(maca powder, creatine, protein)
200g lentils+some carrots and broccoli+mayo with garlic sauce at lunch
in the evening 200g rice/pasta + 200g chicken + chias + shrooms+ketchup(or some other sauce w/e i feel like)
desu I eat sunflower seeds pretty rarely, but when I do, then I eat those whenever I feel like it
