First time I recall seeing one (besides a summary of an intercompany event)
Colton Smith
Alright, so apparently my older cousin is into this shit. I've never played a wargame in my life, and he wants to "bond" over this. I told him I didn't want to because as far as I can tell wargames are expensive and time-consuming (I'm a poorfag, fuck off), but he says it's cheap and won't stop pestering me until I play a few legit games with him.
I'm up for it, but only if I can absolutely dominate him so he will leave me alone.
I know the rules are available online for free, but I just need help in knowing what to buy to get him to permanently fuck off. He's let me play with a few of fighters for just a mini tutorial game, and all of his units are apparently Nomads.
I understand the terms and concepts of the game, and I've been able to find that his army can abuse smoke and infiltration, and that most of units only have one wound, but I don't know how to take advantage of what his supposed strengths are. Can I get any tips on this?
Jonathan Campbell
Dropped out of this when it became apparently Haqqislam was just being replaced by the functionally much better Tohaa rules-wise. What's changed in the last year? I see the Asawira got a makeover.
Kevin Sanders
Be an adult. If you really have no interest in wargames tell him so. Then if you value the friendship work together to find a mutual interest you both can get behind. If you are actually interested then try to adjust your mindset and be open to the experience.
Justin Lopez
Play Aleph, probably the cheapest faction to play with.
Alternatively buy this the Combined army 300 point box for 75$ and learn on that if you really want to be cheap.
Aiden Gonzalez
How did you even find /tg?
Samuel Scott
>What's changed in the last year? Among other things (namely Human Sphere N3) Operation Red Veil has been released so it's been getting increased popularity due to the neophyte friendly two player starter including them.
Some new units were introduced, the Ayyar in the OP (a holoprojecting specialist operative troop for Hassassin Bahram that can carry its choice of Sniper, Shock Marksman rifle with Surprise Shot Level 2, or Rifle+D.E.P.+E/Mitter (all options topped off with dual Viral pistols); Al Fassed got a makeover and is now Al Fasid, a bigger Heavy Infantry with Minelayer and Sixth Sense L1, its included loadout in the starter has an HMG + Smoke or Normal LGL; and Also a couple other new units like Govads, and Zhayedan. Ghazi Muttawi'ah are better these days too, and fireteams and holoprojector L2 are more forgiving.
Less a change for Haqqislam, but other factions have Fireteam Haris options. You'll be coming into this game with the wrong attitude. List building isn't as big of a thing in this as much as mission playing and what happens with your luck and skills you choose. It's hard to powergame by just picking units you're going to field, especially if your goal is to dissuade from further playing by total domination. If you don't want to get into it, express your feelings and don't get into it. I'll say it's a fun game, plenty of cools and imaginative stuff can happen within it, and it can really hook you in as a hobbyist or gamer with beautiful models and tight rules. If you really want to deal with plenty of one wound models with smoke, camo, and infiltration, the least you can do is field sources of MSV2, mine laying, and shock or viral. Without much detail that's the best I can tell you.
Also, do you kiss your mother with that potty mouth?
Jace Gutierrez
If The Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device.
Daniel Gonzalez
Your attitude is trash. Isn't it easier to tell your cousin to fuck off and display your shitty attitude openly, rather than fuck with him in a passive aggressive way through a game of anime operators operating?
Isaac Rodriguez
Unfortunately you'll likely have to invest a lot of time into learning the rules in order to actually crush him. It isn't a very easy game to learn at all.
Evan Baker
Buy TAGs they're VERY good and you can use all of them at once in a super leet turbo noob killer supreme army for leet killas.
Don't forget to buy ALL the TAGs though. You'll need every single one from every faction. Don't worry it's totally a legal army and using them all at once means you're totally badass.
Jonathan White
Haha, Hoho.
Colton Brooks
Painted up the lizard pilot. This is the angle that matters.
Ethan Johnson
Corregidor Lizard Pilot, noice.
Lucas Miller
Bump for booty! Who has best butt?
Angel Thompson
So which thread are we believing?
This one was here first
Also, I painted Knauf.
Eli Rivera
Messed up his face a bit though, along with the PanO logo. Oh well, he's not seeing the board that often anyways.
Josiah Foster
I have such difficulty dealing with faces. especially eyes. But looks good my dude, happy hunting on Hoth I see.
Lincoln Jones
What up, I have a question for you fine anons and rare femanons. I'm really liking the game, but I'm the only person I know who is into it. My room mate plays the occasional 175pt game with me but doesn't want to go as far as to buy his own army. My local game store just runs WarMaHordes, 40k, and SW attack wing and I don't really feel like asking if I can run a demo there. The closest place that runs infinity is in Too-far-landia. Just clearing all this up before the arbitrary counter questions commence. On to the question: I want to go about getting more models and such, but I am unsure how to proceed with this since I would mostly be doing small games and want to keep things pretty fair with the armies I do have. Which, those consist of the O:IS starter, USA starter, and a lone Scarface/Cordelia. I'm thinking either buying Mercs cos pretty models and proxies, dropping money on starters when I can, or buying blisters and boxes for just PanO and Nomad. Any of you care to weigh in on my cheap-skate problems?
Aiden Flores
Rounding up PanO and nomads sounds most feasible option. You don't have to overboard. A new blister now and then helps to keep things fresh.
Wyatt Martin
I hope USARF gets a qt spec-ops
Juan Perry
Cool, thanks for the input magn. Yeah it's not really a need to have a little of everything, it's more because I love the hobby aspect as well and I know I am going to end up getting a few models every couple months to scratch the itch. Might as well have a game plan for it.
Tyler Thomas
They should just hire you RJ.
Elijah Gonzalez
I see you did the shot through skull. I was pondering that, but wasn't sure if it would look good. I guess it can.
Joshua White
That would be awesome...but I don't speak a lick of spanish
Chase Wilson
Just learn the neccessary phrases. >MORE ASS >SEXIER >THICK >robot >HOT
Jaxon Russell
Aren't they supposed to get a spec op this year?
Gavin Gomez
Gimme me some Acontecimento list!
James Roberts
Here's one that I considered as it does not use the starter. I think it would be ok for Limited Insertion.
Juan Diaz
...
Ian Reyes
A buddy of mine is in to this game and we are trying to work out a time for some demos. But I was having some issues finding out what each of the factions played like. Could anyone help me out with that?
Luis Long
battlestations?
Aiden Bennett
Supposed to get one with the upcoming strings of releases.
Nathan Cox
The same. They all play the same. Except that one alien race, that are bad.
Dominic Thompson
>PanO Very direct and quite high tech. Like to shoot people with guns, not big fans of tricks. Have a large variety of heavy units like TAGs and HI.
>Yu Jing Closest thing to an all rounder, quite versatile. Their main distinction is a wide range of heavy infantry.
>Ariadna Very low tech missing some options that other factions consider mainstays, but cheap dudes and lots of camouflage. Also werewolves.
>Haqq Kind of low tech, but far above Ariadna. They specialize in trickery and cheap irregular units, and also have great doctors.
>Nomads Trickery and board control. They have the best hacking coverage in the game and get plenty of other defensive options.
>ALEPH Elite faction with elite units. Great statlines and most units have some skill that makes them harder to kill, but expensive. Very high tech.
>Combined Army A lot like ALEPH, but less focus on toughness and more on gimmicks. Some effect the whole army (like Mnemonica, which ensures you will never enter Loss of Lieutenant mode) while others are just part of one unit.
>Tohaa Fucking weird bullshit. Don't put them in demos.
Nicholas Gonzalez
Ehh, Nomads are the true mainline faction. Yu Jing has the eternal CC tax. Ariadna is more "not so many expensive troops", rather than lots of line troops. Tohaa have lots of unique special rules, but their main two are triads (small links/squads), that dish extra firepower, and symbiont armor, that makes them extra durable, effectively granting them second wound. Themed around biotechnology.
David Gutierrez
If you were going to buy only 1 PanO TAG, which would you pick?
Elijah Peterson
CC tax was last edition. It's still around for a few units like the line troops and Guijia, but otherwise it's barely relevant and for many troops doesn't exist at all, they just get a bit of extra free CC.
I see people say Nomads are the all rounders, but I don't agree at all. Just because their basic troops don't get +1 stat bonuses doesn't mean they're all rounders. They lack the quality of heavy hitters most other factions have but instead get various tricks and board control methods like Sin Eaters, CrazyKoalas, great hackers with incredible repeater coverage, loads of flamethrowers and quite a few less conventional weapons like ADHLs. The reason PanO is shooty isn't because of their +1 BS, it's because of the various skills and equipment their dudes have that make them better in gunfights. The little stat bumps don't mean much in comparison.
Hudson Bennett
For stats? Cutter
For looks? Dragao
Jason Kelly
Tikbalang. Which is why I don't like it being packed with Uhlan. Also Jotum, because he's just BIG.
Aiden Hernandez
>looks >not Seraph >not jumping across the board screaming DEUS VULT while being shot to pieces
Mason Hall
+ Seraph is order of magnitude easier to put together.
David Morris
I agree. Nomads are squishy as fuck and lack good leadership options (LI 0swc Lt, CoC). Mainline faction PanO; team move-and-shoot with little bits of everything else.
Noah Myers
Cutter, it's iconic and not fucked up in some way. Also stats don't matter, I don't and probably won't play PanO.
Samuel Thomas
Thanks for the help.
If I do get in to the where would I want to start with the faction?
I really like the Umbra Samaritans and Daturazi Witch-Soldiers models.
Anthony Green
Usually with the starter sets. In your case it will be the Combined Army one.
Both the Samaritan and the Daturazi are killy, CC focused units that will not survive for long, so their job is to kill as much as they can before they go down. I think the Samaritan is much better in Onyx sectorial than in CA, but that would cut you off from using Daturazi. Both full Combined Army and Onyx sectorial use the same starter.
Dylan Davis
Samaritans are okay, they're vicious flankers with some interesting tools. Witch Soldiers are fucking fantastic, with god tier melee ability and the tools to get there, not to mention regular orders. Just keep in mind they're impetuous and make sure they don't run in front of MSV2 snipers.
Cooper Green
Do muslims in this game get rape as some kind of psychological weapon ? Like Rape Lvl 1 works for opposite sex while Lvl 2 on same sex and Lvl 3 on aliens and goats ? Is this game halal by the way ?
Grayson Cook
>all Nomads are automatically immune
Austin Gomez
Nah. Haqqislam is all reformed and modernized and shit. They've chucked the hadith in the trash and now a woman's testimony is equal to a man's and rape is a serious crime.
Fucking modernists, ruining everything.
Luke Torres
Jotum. Make them tremble in fear and cold in the mountains of the ice hell.
Ian Roberts
Impersonation, holoprojection.
Kayden Martin
If you want to know where I got the skull thing, it's from the Assault on Black Reach set, one of the base decorations they included to fill up some empty space. Thanks, I gave it an ice base because the Manga takes place in Svalarheima, which is known as an "ice planet" for better and worse cliches.
If my Spanish is remembering correctly >mas nalgas/culo >mas sexy >mas grueso >robot >guapo/guapa, atractiva, sexy, and a couple others as there's not a real direct analogue for hot, if you say you're hot literally it can mean you're horny though. Cutter. Gotta go all in with the TO. If it was just for hobby though, I'd get Eduardo.
Owen Jackson
Pretty new to Infinity. Was looking through profiles, saw the Karakuri profiles and thought they looked pretty sweet. 40 pt Mk 12 version.
Specialists, tough to dislodge, etc. Tried them last night with a Celestial Guard hacker giving them the supportware to ignore cover, put them in suppression fire midways up the board.
Holy shit those things locked down the game. They were in a position where no heavy weapons could really drop them so anything wanting to engage had to come into a non-negative range band for suppression fire.
Did I mess anything up or are those thing that good? They're remotes so I could supportware them to for Marksman right? I mean, it was two orders just to buff them every turn but damn those things seem legit.
Adrian Bell
Karakuri can't recieve support except for Fairy Dust. They're not REMs; They're HI.
Ian Davis
Ohhhhhh...
I'm such a cheater! I'll have to apologize to buddy, I saw hackable characteristic + they're robots and just filled it in. Doh...
Jace Butler
Can someone explain in human terms how the hell Holoprojector Level 1 and 2 work :).
I've read the wiki a few times and i'm quite sure I still don't understand it.
Connor Robinson
They've got G:Remote Presence but are not REM remotes, fair point for confusion but you did get that part wrong.
They're pretty good despite that cheating. Two wound HI with Dogged really can be rough.
Caleb Jones
You have to look up the "States" not just the rule. Yes it's goofy and unintuitive as fuck but there you go.
William Barnes
Level 1 is a dude disguised as another dude (of the same size). Not much to not get. You can reveal that the dude is not that dude by doing an action other than moving, or by being discovered by the enemy (if they're so keen on doing so).
Lvl 2 lets you group up with two echo buddies within 8". You note which one of the three is the real one. They're essentially holograms that disappear if disovered or forced to make an arm/BTS, or if you so choose to reveal who your actual dude by doing something other than moving (if you do so you reveal which one it actually is, and you can get surprise shot bonuses from it).
You can remake the holoprojected echoes by spending an order, or doing it automatically in the tactical phase of your enemy if no one is in sight. Two echoes in B2B with the one guy, you write down which one it really is (essentially getting a free movement which can lead to cheeky stuff).
Hudson Moore
You fucking ruined it, all her nice little details, her perfect ass. Thin your paints and watch some tutorials, holy shit. At least metal strips easily.
I don't want to even think about what you did to her face.
Jose Bell
Ok, can you disguise your echos as other dudes? For example;
I have a Kanren I can disguise him as a Celestial Guard due to Echo state 1 I can disguise him as 3 Celestial Guard due to Echo state 2 echos
Or if I echo, I can't do that?
Parker Martin
What's the most our numbers are bigger faction? Morat aggression force? Steel phalanx? Corregidor?
Juan Hill
Steel Phalanx. Definitely not Corregidor.
Brandon Baker
You can disguise as other dudes they just have to be the same loadout. So three Boarding Shotgun Celestial Guards with the Kanren for example (although it's usually not suggested for him specifically because he'd want to use Forward Deployment, it's instead better to do mind games like faking a KHD profile with just a FO Kanren).
Semi-common practice with the Ayyar is to disguise him as three Naffatun to dissuade opponents coming up to your deployment zone with their template weapons Of course when you start moving, the jig is up in the sense that your opponent will know that the three troops identical troops are a Holo Lvl2 unit because all three move at the same time and you have to put a holo-echo state on one of them if you're using models. Still does quite good mind games.
Nathaniel Ramirez
I live to trigger you with my subpar amateur paint jobs.
Easton Murphy
Ok user, thanks so much.
KHD profile? Like a Ninja or Oniwaban? Can you holoecho a camo marker?
Benjamin Rodriguez
>Can you holoecho a camo marker? No, different state, different effects. Can't holoproject as equipment or markers either (no tinbot).
The Kanren has a KHD (Killer Hacking Device) profile that I was referring to.
Alexander Jones
>our numbers are bigger faction
what does that even mean. numbers larger pointwise or model wise what faction outnumbers the others usually.
Isaiah Taylor
I assume raw stats.
Josiah Walker
It's not just your paint job mate, it's your building skills too. Totes triggered though.
The Ayyar seems like total trash DESU. I don't feel like a good Hassassin has rolled around in a long time.
Luis Campbell
Congratulations. You became the last non-warhammer wargaming general that isn't dead or dying.
Jack Myers
>Leila Sheriff >Govads >Ghulam >Ragiks
You crazy
Justin Adams
Dual viral pistols and holo 2 DESU.
William Flores
Last weekend was kind of in line with what you're saying. Had two threads that died before the bump limit.
Lucas Cox
What's happening?
Christopher Cruz
Wmh and malifaux went belly up.
Landon Gutierrez
What, seriously? Privateer Press were tweeting like last week.
Hudson Jackson
I live in the second largest city of the second biggest country in terms of wmh popularity and thr biggest game store went down to about 5 gloomy players from the original 40.
Jordan Gray
New edition of 40k inbound and GW discovered the internet and social media, so people keep making a ton of threads about the teased stuff and pushing other threads off.
The game or the thread? MFX threads tend to die very quickly since there's so little list chat to fuel them.
Logan Robinson
Ok gentlemen, how we can fix the anaconda?
Jaxson Wright
I would also blame Shadow War. People still want to play in 40k universe, but as the actual game was awful, a tried skirmish ruleset made some of them dust off their old 40k minis. I know I did.
Jacob Miller
Can always check the faction rundown. Though it's in need of updating, since I wrote that thing years ago.
I'll probably mess with it tonight. USARF, Onyx, and some updates are def needed.
Daniel Perez
Aleph and Panoceania are described by this, but in different ways.
Hunter Evans
Change light flamer to heavy flamer. Make the operator BS13 and give her Mimetism.
Owen Martinez
Why would the operator have Mimetism?
Eli Smith
To make her good at not getting hit.
Why shouldn't she?
Ayden Wood
Why not spend those extra points on something for the TAG?
James Ward
What's wrong with it?
Oliver Flores
Mimetism imply spesific training.
Justin Martinez
Or an Antipode-fur coat, I think.
Chase Howard
No 15 - 10 Mov No specialist pilot No Hmg No heavy flamethrower 2 Wounds + pilot Silhouette 7 2 cap 62 points
Basically, one of the worst tags of the game. Any 62 points ip will do better, heck i prefer any veteran kazak over that profile.
Landon Jenkins
At those points just about any elite HI is better. Heck 2 Decent HI gives you more bang for the buck.
Alexander Cruz
I play Onyx, so have my share of 4-4 (or 10-10, by your count) TAGs, and I don't think that the things you mention are a big problem *except* the two wounds. Spitfires are superior to HMGs for TAGs that want to be near the middle of the table, but the biggest problem it's got is that it can't go down and get repaired back up, it just ejects and then self destructs.
Carter Butler
If I remember correct your 4-4 tags are all cheaper too and some can even join fireteams?
