Need characters for a Warhawk Fandex

Hello all, I'm making a Harakoni Warhawk fandex for 7th and I need some special characters. I know 8th is coming, but it's been the subject of much skub in my group, so we're holding on to 7th for a bit.

The Warhawks are Drop-Heavy Infantry, and the 'dex reflects this. They all get Deep Strike and a homebrew USR, Drop Specialists (subtract 2" from scatter during Grav Chute Insertion). They all get Carapace Armour and Hellguns/Hellpistols (S3 AP5 21" RF and S3 AP5 11" Pistol respectively). Vets also get Operation Hot Drop as a Special Rule. They have most of the standard HQs, with USRs plus wargear for a significant price bump. The only ground vehicles they can take are Tauroses and Drop Sentinels, but they get Valkyries and Vendettas at Elysian points costs to compensate.

The only special character I have so far is Father Marcus Schoeman. He's an ornery Ministorum Priest with (redundant) carapace, +1 to WS, W, and Ld, a Crozius Arcanum gifted to him by an Astartes Chaplain, and some fuckhueg books that give him a single-use 3++ that kills a War Hymn if he passes. He also has to take an Ld test every time his squad is issued an Order. If he fails, he leaves the squad, autocasts the Smash War Hymn on himself, gains Fleet and Move Through Cover and the ability to both Run and Charge, and runs towards the nearest enemy unit to go crack some skulls.

Some characters that have arisen from the group's tabletop campaign setting:
Commissar-Captain Rhodes, head of the regimental Commissariat. Headshotted a cultist champion with his Bolt Pistol from the ramp door of the last departing Valkyrie despite a broken leg and acute shrapnel poisoning.
Lieutenant Hanekom, a tactically-skilled but racist and cowardly Tauros Venator commander.
Colonel Van Zaal, 63rd Warhawks CO, notable for rescuing a planetary heir by carting her out of a 7th-story window via grav-chute.

Any help statting out existing characters or coming up with new ones is greatly appreciated.

bummer that scatter is going away, but what why not just make it easy on all of us and use 20 inch rapid fire guns? not a bif difference and it avoids half inches, which are not in the rules really. 10 inch pistols would be nice too. losing 1 inch compared to a regular pistol isn't much at all.

>any way, i'll go through my folders and dump anything i find neat.

not sure if your using cadian bits.

Just thinking about it, one of my favorite over blown load outs for a sgt is a shotgun and powerfist. You can call him something like cannonball Jones, and make him give his squad furious charge and him personally wrecker.

an nasty little bunker buster.

I mean, yeah, but staline justification is they're exactly halfway between a Hotshot and normal lasgun. AP5 is halfway between AP- and AP3, 21" is halfway between 18" and 24". 20"/10" taken under consideration, though.

I have plenty of visual reference, what I'm looking for is characterizations, personalizations, and small fluff (dust bunnies?).

This is the sort of thing I'm looking for. Names are South African in flavor, Cannonball Johansson perhaps? What does Wrecker do exactly?

i'd totally use this guy as a base and swap on a power fist or mechanical hand.

well another idea I have had for a platoon leader is a guy sorta enamored with tech, that doesn't really do anything that we the savy player would consider worth it.

his nose in a auxpex, that is wired to a back pack with lots of antenna and grubins. his personal team would have to try their best to keep him alive, and the vets generally don't trust him over their guts and grits.

Trusts the auspex and tech more than instinct and feeling... If played straight we get Shoggy Domor, who I really like. If lampshaded, we basically get Inspector Gadget from the VHS cartoons. Which to do, which to do...

you post pics to keep your thread bumped m8, and it gives random annons like me an idea what your thinking about. I might as well post what im looking at right now trying to come up with stuff for you.

good base for him. Brother Vinni Wizard Tech-Wizard.

Look up figures from th 101st Airborne Easy Company

Steal those

"Good writers create, great writers steal"?

Thank you for the advice, still a bit of a newbie to Veeky Forums.

Character's appearance pic related.

The attached tech engiseer could have a thanlex jump pack, just for aesthetics if you use him as an in codex option. maybe give his servetors the option for heavy flamers. maybe a flyer dedicated transport option?

one of those vehicle dropship Valkyries would be a pretty cool fullfy ride for him. I have never handled one of the models in person, so idk if you can bash a small box on the under side. maybe the pic? arvis ofcorse is an option, but they are kinda not the same military atheistic.

the admech would need to airdrop priests in with all the jeeps and such.

people liked shoggy, I was thinking more like captain America from generation kill.

>if like gaunts ghosts, watch it if you haven't.

I'd envisioned the techpriests staying with the support echelons and fixing shit when it come back broken (Soldiers break everything etc) rather than jumping in alongside. Side note, Valkyrie Sky Talons (the lifters) are great on tabletop, flyers with a heavy bolter and Valk armour for like 100 points

idk m8, a floating palanquin/Abeyant with flamers being dropped in to recover high value tech assets sounds kinda fun. do him up in a more 'casual' dressed down admech style, kinda like exo armor in aliens could be a way bring in some of that space 'marine' style.

I have just the flamers too. madrobotminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_12&products_id=53

Yeah, could be kinda neat I guess. IDK, not super keen but could be really funny. "Lieutenant Hanekom just lost his whole left leg, and his Venator crashed!"
"The Venator crashed? SERVITORS, TO ME AT ONCE, WE FLY TO RECOVER THE VENATOR"
"Take the doc, Hanekom's wounded!"
"Fuck Hanekom, save the machine!"

Pic related, would psykers in a drop regiment be safe given the mental stresses of combat drops?

digging though my stuff for a real life example of a dressed down engiseer. put him standing on a platform that hovers. like in killzone 2, those really dumb as fuck dropships.

paint the rails yellow and put cation stripes on them.
it is 40k. also you know, if you save the truck, you can ocastially save the meatbags inside.

Eh, just give him a Sky Talon with random Mechanicus bits bolted on, maybe even an expand-o-crate full of Instant Workshop.

Eh, meatbags. They have their uses.

and I thought I'veve seen the silliest flying tank.

So, psykers, yea or nay? They have Astropaths in the HQ...

That looks like a frakking toaster put it together. At least the one I found had its treads removed...

Alrighty guys, it's been good so far. I'm gonna head to bed, if this is still here in 6 hours I shall return.
