For X-wing, do any of you have signature/personal squads or squad archytypes that you always fly?
Do any of you have ships that you are known for always flying?
Sebastian Foster
I'm decently well known in my local meta for flying primarily Corran/Miranda and if not that then Dash/Miranda. I think it's a shake up for people when they see me running something outside of that. I understand that 2-ship is weak right now, but it's my preferred way to to fly.
Elijah Gutierrez
I'm an Imperial ace guy, always have been. Played the shit out of interceptors, made cut at regionals with the just-released tie defender, and I won the invitational with that same Defender (Rexler) and my new waifu Quickdraw.
Bentley Robinson
How are you feeling about Empire's current place in the meta? They seem to really be struggling.
Also, why do the Krayts call you 'daddy'?
Owen Hill
upsilon shuttle with two tie sf's
its for casual. i dont compete or sign up for tourneys. i just play for the aesthetic.
Zachary Barnes
How would all of the FFG Star Wars games rank in popularity? RPG, X Wing, Armada, Destiny, etc
Alexander Flores
Xwing, Destiny, Armada, RPG, LCG.
Grayson Price
X-wing RPG Imperial Assault Destiny Star Wars: The Card Game Not playing Star Wars Games Armada
I don't make a list most of the time without starting with a pair of identical generics.
All Empire of course.
Liam Diaz
Empire's not doing great currently for a few reasons. Being the green dice faction sucks when green dice have high variance. Hard to win 9 games if 1 bad roll can cost you. Having a hard counter in bombs also sucks. Old Fennaroo also out-aces Imperial Aces. I don't think they're far off, honestly. They've been built around Palp for over a year and when he got nudged things broke down. They're still strong, I bet if you nerfed Advanced Slam they'd pop right back up. Empire is winning a lot of store championships, too.
The Krayts and I have a mutual friend who I've known for years and jokingly called himself my intern or my son. Daddy just stuck, I guess.
Matthew King
Just starting reading your work and I have to say it's really good. Please write more.
Lucas Moore
Corran dash. I usually always field corran somewhere. If not... there better be a damn B-wing in my list because that ship is still my first love in terms of looks.
Asher Nelson
You're my kind of people.
Alexander Gomez
>I seriously hope you guys stop putting star wars in the title
Jace Bennett
god I love that alt art. I just look at it every time corran loses a shield and it's like he's saying "Everything's okay buddy, just pick a green manoeuver next turn and get me out of the fight, I'm not shooting next round anyway."
Adrian Bailey
I have a list i've been flying a lot lately. Might take it to the next store tournament.
Can you guys help me figure out what to put in to finish this list?
I'm trying to make double Imperial Pseudo-Regen.
2 Omega Squadron Specialists (PS5 TIE/SF) with Intensity, Comm Relay, FCS, LWF, and Title is 68 points. That leaves 32 points for a third ship.
I'm not sure what to bring. What do you guys think of the following options?
- Luitenant Ketsal with Lone Wolf, TLT, LWF - Standard Carnor (maybe with Mk2 engines) - Standard Inquisitor without Prockets - Ryad with Trick Shot - Palp Shuttle with a System or Yorr. pilot. - Omega Leader with mod of choice and a bid. - Support Shuttle to help feed green tokens to flip faster - Tomax with 8 points of shit. (munitions or crew) - Juno with ATC, VI, and mk2 engines
Really, I wish they were 1 point cheaper so I could run three of the fuckers.
Any suggestions?
Gabriel Butler
I'd say go Kestal
Gavin Rodriguez
My first instinct is the TIE Shuttle with like, OpSpec, Fleet Officer to hand out focus tokens as needed to buy back Intensity, but thinking about it Carnor or Kestal might be for the better. Carnor because fuck focus stacking - but Kestal also has a really good anti-ace ability which might still be useful when the Aggressor actually rolls out.
Gavin Lewis
3x Mindlink Mangler Cannon Scyks with a friend (Usually Palob, but coming up I'll be able to drop one of the Tansarii Vets down to Indaldra and try out a light Guri to support with Mindlink, Mk2 Title and Autothrusters)
While I keep insisting that they're basically as nearly as x7 Defenders because they're 3/3/3/1, get Focus/Evade every turn and lose the white K-Turn but have a better dial otherwise, I'll admit they aren't quite. That said they're a really solid squad and have done me well ever since the Heavy Scyk buff.
Kayden Wright
I'm the guy with the paper ships. I just wrote the first draft of my homebrew space combat rules. It's nothing amazing, but if anyone here understands Spanish maybe he'll like to check it out.
I think that the weapon range of everything is too long, I'll tone it down a bit tomorrow.
Kevin Martinez
You should shorten the ruleset's name to Spanish Armada.
James Russell
>poverty Armada >written in Spanish
Like poetry
just copy the rules for Armada, print off the upgrade cards off the internet and the ship bases from vassal
Josiah White
Do you think you could upload even a machine translation of it? I am interested in this sort of thing but don't speak an ounce of spanish
Luke Sullivan
Anyone have any good plot hooks for a starfighter campaign?
Hunter King
Brilliant There you go user. I didn't add the stats, but you can find the in the original.
Jace James
A few months after the Battle of Yavin, the Rebellion is on the back foot following the Empire's crushing counter-attack on Yavin IV and the capture of General Dodonna. The PCs are a Rebel fighter unit tasked with keeping the Imps off the Ison Corridor for as long as possible while Rebel High Command relocates as many assets as it can to Hoth.
The PCs are a pack of misfits, malcontents, and malingerers assigned by Imperial Starfighter Command to the 181st right around the same time as Baron Fel. He'll drag them to glory whether they like it or not and make the One-Eighty-Worst a team to be proud of.
Following the destruction of Hosnian Prime, the Nu Republic faces increasing discontent with its spineless, ineffectual, and obstructive leadership, which has hindered competent attempts at mobilization. The PCs, a Nu Republic fighter unit stationed in the Outer Rim, have seen numerous colonies go dark across the board in the past few weeks. Do they sit, watch, and wrestle with the NR's bullshit rules of engagement? Do they heed the highly illegal call to arms sent out by a famous Rebellion-era veteran (maybe Leia, maybe someone else) and rally to his/her banner? Or do they take advantage of the turbulent times to go AWOL and become pirates/mercenaries?
The PCs are the presenters of a pokey piloting programme and the producers have given them a challenge. Each of them has been given 10,000 credits to purchase, repair, and modify a starfighter of their choice from the local scrapyard. Their job is to travel the entire length of the Hydian Way, from one end to another.
Landon Walker
So lads I played my firsts game against my gf using her shiny new Decimator I got her.
I killed it at least but also lost everything, mostly thanks to rolling blanks the entire goddamn game.
Some of you mentioned the Decimator was built to ram and holy fucking shit, I'm not okay with that shit. Fuckin horrifying.
Gonna set up a lot more torpedoes and the like to sink it quick next time
Henry Kelly
You want a space ship, you got to steal it!
Give the PC's a "lucrative" target of old surplus shitboxes at an imperial impound lot from the clone wars, old Y-wings, ARC's, maybe the odd V19, suped up Z95 or even a Eta2 or something. Added to the mix are dodgy, hotted up freighters and other random pieces of confiscated goodies that the Empire has taken off the space lanes for various reasons.
>You get a pry bar and tools, couple of jerry cans of fuel, an astromech and about 15minutes before it starts getting wild.
Jayden Myers
So Kestal to be annoying and do TLT damage while flying around away from everything else?
Grayson Rodriguez
I mean, her ability fucks autothrusters - so she's an ideal for turret use. Use those BRs to manipulate the donut because that R 2-3 is fucking huge.
If you can make zoidberg noises while you do it, all the more power to you.
Robert Powell
Things that can deal out crits reliably will hurt a Decimator badly. My go-to list has Mangler Cannon Mindlink Scyks in it, which are a bad time for any decimator they shoot at.
Henry Smith
As a filthy rebfag who has a crush on X-Wings, my life is pretty difficult so far.
Please god give X-Wings a title to beef them up a little bit FFG.
Thomas Carter
Well, the sad thing about X-Wings is that cool shit with them would probably be centered around Rogue One, but it takes them like a year to do a release so assuming they had nothing else to do it'd still probably be a couple months before they'd be ready to announce it at minimum so you'd probably be waiting for a Gencon announcement (though presumably also that'll be Wave XII time) for a release at the end of the year/early 2018.
But it could always be more frequent. 2014 saw the release of two epic ships and two Aces boxes. We know between the SKUs for Wave XI and Guns For Hire there's like 1-2 waves worth of content. Of course, SKUs for X-Wing also include accessories, but short of maybe some fringe colored bases I don't see a whole lot of those on the horizon.
Luke Jackson
I just have this increasing feeling that theyre just not going to bother and instead make the T-70 the posterchild namesake of the game and forsake the old hotness.
I really hope they dont, though. Though I guess if they do, I'll just start running T-70s with 65 models becuase fuck off.
Lucas Clark
I think they'll hit the X-Wing eventually. People really want it, they know the T-65 version isn't "fixed" - but from a broad standpoint they don't really "owe" rebels so bad. Scum had no epics for a long time, and almost all of their small base ships sucked or were very limited in use. You occasionally saw people try and make Talonbane or Guri a thing, especially once mind-linking was popular but that was just shooting yourself because you don't want to run more Fangs. Even the brokenness of Jumps can be seen as a disservice to Scum - it hurts their ability to run anything else.
On the other hand, Biggs has always been popular and "good" in terms of the X-Wing. And in the smaller scene you almost always see some Wedge, Wes, Hobbie and Luke in store tourneys and casual and stuff. And generic X-Wings are decent platforms in epic when you have enough points to fly a few with torpedoes. They're not really great, but they're okay and stayed relatively "okay" for like 10 waves. HoTR was just "Yeah, so, we didn't know jack shit about TFA before it came out, here's us actually trying with T-70 pilots. Also have more tech upgrades."
Rebels cycle through a handful of useful builds and pilots, and people have such huge boners for all the major rebel ships they keep making them work. Imperials are currently buttblasted because they lost their unassailable pillars of palp and x7 and Kylo Ren didn't explode on the scene causing all those NPEs he was supposed to. But they finally got their turret ship, and they get Unguided Rockets.
And god forbid a T-85 shows up on screen. That'll probably be like the Rebel equivalent of a Defender. "Fuck you, I do everything".
William Bell
You actually want the inverse to deal with a deci- just lots of small dice. Don't bring Torps to deal with it- Use things that roll a shitload of dice. Cheap swarmy ships, cluster missiles, etc.
Alexander Johnson
Yeah I mean, I just want her to be fixed cos its literally my favourite sci-fi ship ever.
Currently since we're just messing about for fun (though considering how much we've already picked up, youd think we were taking it super seriously), I havent even tried to approach any sort of meta.
I'd be kinda intrigued to see what a T85 would do differently. Extra torp slots maybe? More shields?
Michael Green
Of that, I have no idea. Depends on how advanced and cool it's supposed to be. In Legends later models of X-Wings carried more torps, as many as Y-Wings or even more, so double torp slot wouldn't be crazy. The T-70 is already only 1 AGI away from matching the stats of the Defender, and if they do have a spot for one more action on the bar. X-Wing-style ships with native BRs or Evades could be a thing.
Or could give them two tech slots - really make the ship "advanced". Lots of nonsense you could do with that.
Robert Taylor
It's always fun watching people find new stuff to bitch about. Specific lists, specific upgrades, specific tactics. Even better when they forget the past. Defenders are overpriced garbage, then they're overpowered 0 tier, then they weren't OP - they were a vital part of the empire! People rag on Fenn Rau just like the used to fear Soontir Fel. Shit always cycles around.
People are eternally butthurt, they just always find something new to complain about. Right now people are upset about "Scumwing", but less than 6 months ago everybody was mad at how KyloRAC was going to kill off the entirety of the Rebel faction.
Benjamin Turner
I feel like they wont go evades - thematically, the free evade very much seems to be 'the tie thing' when opposed to the x-wing being the general adaptability thing.
Double tech slot would be interesting as hell though, i could definitely see that happening.
Luke Rivera
>I'd be kinda intrigued to see what a T85 would do differently. >Extra torp slots maybe? More shields?
Probably an evolution on the T-70, which was according to some of the splats capable of having modular load-outs in terms of ordinance and guns. Plus the 70's had a fair bit of tech in their ability to super-cruise, some limited stealth to reduce detection range etc. Basically an all round better multi role beast.
Daniel Martin
>muh seekrit club
Zachary Miller
not a single one, but I do have a couple of builds that are kinda my go tos. Rey/Finn+Poe(bb8) is a classic that a tweak the last few points back and forth, but not much. Especially after I found the Kannan combo.
And I've got a Nien Nunb build I put in a lot of lists.
Dylan Bailey
Manaroo just got nerfed so hard. I don't the 'arroo' lists are going to dominate so hard after that.
Isaac Rogers
What happens if you add the stun pulse attachment to shock gloves? I don't see where it says you can't but I cant figure out what would occur. I am pretty confident it doesn't just add 2 (eventually 5) stun to the shock gloves but with how I read anything that has a plus adds to the base value, so the 3 +1 mods would add to the shock gloves 3 rather than the attachments 2 stun. Is that the case or how this works?
If not (or if you cant attach them which is fine it seems silly) what would be a good brawl weapon to stick stun pulse into? Other than cortosis gauntlets because we can't get those yet.
Oliver Nguyen
I would rule that it increased the stun value.
Landon Howard
The Armaguerra OG-44 is so fucking blasterfiable it doesn't even need a scope!
(The OG-43 is cool and quirky but I don't think it fits SW well enough.
Jack Evans
The only issues I have with it are the Stamped magwell, slightly-too-"Deep" pistol grip and the balance looking a little "Off" with no magazine inserted.
Luis Walker
>I'd be kinda intrigued to see what a T85 would do differently. Fingers crossed for the second coming of the StealthX.

Last thread reminded me
Anyone got any card ideas? Like upgrade cards for existing ships
I have a few but I'll start with this one for fun:
Green Leader (0) A-Wing Only; Arvel Crynyd only
You may equip a second title
When you would attack in the Combat Phase, if you are touching an enemy epic ship and Arvel Crynyd has received at least one damage card, you may destroy Arvel Crynyd to destroy that enemy epic ship
Dylan Diaz
would that be a title user?
Logan Sanders
Yeah
Connor Gomez
OG-43's are just bizarre in their looks and the 44 is just a bit too plain in some ways. Though if you could keep some of the wooden furniture on it, might make for some outer rim gangster's blaster decent enough. Skip forward about a dozen years into Italian gun manufacturing, the Franchi LF-57 I reckon with the magazine taken off, some big arse heat sinks strapped to the mag well- it could make for something quite starwarsy
Gavin Gutierrez
I'm the bomber guy. been doing well in the local leagues with jonus and a pair of punishers. rerolls plus Guidance chips makes for consistent 3 hits every time with their cluster missiles.
David Thomas
It feels a little too "Square" for a small Star wars blaster but too messy for the Nucanon Mando Spaceglocks.
Wyatt Sanchez
>"Deflectors Double Front!" EPT, 1 Point Rebel Only. Small Ship Only. Action: Perform a Reinforce action. You may only place a reinforce token showing the "Fore" side.
>Placard Hunter EPT, 3 Points Imperial only. When attacking a ship inside your firing arc, if you are not inside that ship's firing arc, you may reroll 1 attack die. If the defender's pilot skill value is "5" or higher, you may instead reroll up to 2 attack dice.
>Integrated Ion Cannon Cannon, 2 Points. When attacking with a primary weapon, if your attack hits, you may assign the defender one Ion Token. Then change all your [Crit] results to [Hit] results. Your dice cannot be modified again during this attack.
>Guidance Astromech Astromech, 0 Points. Once per round, when attacking with a [Torpedo] secondary weapon, you may change 1 die result to a [Hit] result (or a [Crit] result if your primary weapon value is "3" or higher).
Kayden Sanchez
Was kind of disappointed the Mando guns where just square bricks with a barrel, no interesting bits hanging off them like Boba or Jango Fett's gats had. Though running things forward into the "fucking weird Italian stuff", the Benelli CB M2 was an interesting sub gun using a semi-caseless ammo. Quite a futuristic looking design too!
Jack Miller
That one is cool, I just felt like LF-57 was too stuck in the middle of those two designs.
Adrian Barnes
A blasterized Breda 30 would also be pretty damn cool to see.
Aiden Clark
The back between the loading block and trigger seems to skeletal, but then again the RT-97C or whatever it was made from the MG15 also looked a little incongruous but still decent.
I'm actually a sucker for the shitty civilianized G-36 for AWB import, it's super blastery.
Dylan Myers
Inter-war years for the Italians either ranged between super slick or janky as hell, their latter WW2 era stuff I really like the look of because its just so fucking crude and you could almost lay good money on how long it would take before no worky The Breda would be an extremely rare gun now I'd imagine unless some 3rd world armoury has a dump of them in a dingy container somewhere
That can't be cheap, I still lie to my wife about how much my MR762 cost me here.
Benjamin Carter
Damn it, forgot to attach this gloriously ugly piece of shit
Nolan Allen
OP here; Here are some title cards I thought up (except the Wraith Squadron one, credit for that goes to a poster from the previous thread):
RZ-1T (0) A-Wing Only, title Your upgrade bar loses the missile icon Your upgrade bar gains the crew icon
Blade Wing (2) B-Wing Only, Title Your upgrade bar loses all torpedo and cannon icons If you have no stress tokens, you may receive a stress token to perform this attack: ATTACK TARGET LOCK ATTK:4 RNG: 2-3 Your dice may only be modified by a target lock for its standard effect You may receive additional stress tokens to roll additional attack dice, up to two additional dice After you execute a maneuver after you perform this attack, receive a weapons disabled token
Selu (0) YT-1300 only, title At the beginning of the Activation Phase, you may treat your pilot skill as the same as any other ship in play until the end of the round
Sabra (2) YT-1300 only, title You may not perform primary weapon attacks Your upgrade bar gains the Turret Icon Reduce the point cost of Turret upgrades by 1
Rogue Squadron Pilot (0) X-Wing and E-Wing only, Title After you perform any action, if there is another ship with the Rogue Squadron Pilot title at Range 1-2, you may immediately perform a free action
Wraith Squadron Pilot (0) X-Wing and E-Wing only, Title Your upgrade bar received the Illicit Icon You may not equip this title if your pilot skill is 5 or lower
Zaarin Refit (1) Empire Only, TIE Fighter only, title Your upgrade bar gains the Missile Icon Increase your Shield Value by 1 Unique Pilots CANNOT equip this upgrade
Charles Wilson
Bren gun with the mag removed would be a really solid heavy blaster rifle IMO The jap type 99 would be even more so but there's like ten of the things left
Carson Roberts
OP; make the Blade Wing, Selu, and Sabra titles unique
Ethan Gutierrez
Have the Italians ever designed a boring-looking gun? It seems like every firearm that comes out of Italy is eye-catching in some way. Ugly, sexy, distinctive, weird--every Italian gun I've seen has looked memorable.
Levi Brown
Italians have a great sense of flare most of the time, and when that sense of flare does backfire it backfires spectacularly.
Josiah Ramirez
Some brenelli shotguns look fairly generic IMO
Connor Lewis
Yeah, they focused on looks instead of functionality.
Austin Ross
I think the idea is trash but I have poor taste. How does this sound for a plot
>Long time ago a group of sith lords went far too deep into the dark side and became little more than beasts, very powerful beasts but still quite mindless vessels of the dark side's rage >These sith lords was sealed away, far too powerful and useful to kill they scattered across sith temples across the galaxy >Party finds a sith temple where one of the "Forces of Nature" (title drop) is awakening >Darth Lighting-name is creating a storm that's frying anything that trying to leave the planet so the party needs to take him down in order to get off world
This is as far as I got, forget the idea or try to work on it?
Isaiah Martin
You reminded me of another idea.
>External Warhead Launchers Modification, 0 Points. Your upgrade bar gains the [Missile] icon. You cannot equip this card if you have any [Missile], [Torpedo] or [Bomb] upgrade icons. You may equip 1 additional Modification upgrade that costs 2 or fewer squad points.
Dylan Barnes
Their pistols, mostly dominated by Beretta are generally fairly orthodox looking critters and quite serviceable... everything else though (aside from their high end shotguns), is just plain weird, flashy, janky and sometimes fucking odd. Bit like the French in some ways, often innovative, pushing boundaries and might sometimes fall short of achieving.
I guess they're aspirational if nothing else!
Tyler Morgan
She was all over the top 16 of Worlds and I still can't find a better 28 points alongside Fenn and Asajj. So no.
Xavier Murphy
Wraith squadron can still be taken on VI R2-D6 biggs. Cloaking stygium biggs is not something I want to see.
Bentley Clark
Aside from the new Px4, Berettas have always had their own look which I find pretty distinctive IMO. They're just so ubiquitous that that unique look seems normal
Liam Collins
If anyone even remembers my lists at all then I'm probably known for flying B-wings, they seem to always find their way into my lists even though I fucking hate using them with a passion. I think I've probably fielded B-wings more than any other ship and never once have they felt like they were worth the points spent on them.
Logan Scott
Man, the meta is faster than that. All the Manaroo nerf did was kill dengaroo, manaroo is still clearly one of the top 5 pilots in the game.
There wouldn't be that many manaroos in the top 16 of worlds if she was bad now.
Anthony Howard
I guess I'll start with Kestal when the aggressor comes out.
I really hope Lone Wolf can mod dice well enough, since I can't afford Expertise
Brandon Hughes
Their new guns like the PX4 kind of looks almost like a Sig product (320) and the APX is almost a Glock for lack of anything otherwise noticeable. That's sort of what the market wants though, ability to bolt gubbins on rails, lightweight materials and the most ergonomic angles for control. But yeah, stuff like their 70's and 92's stayed in production for such a long time they're quite identifiable to anyone
It seems fine to me. I'd make sure there's a reason no one's discovered this planet-tuck it away behind unreasonably hard to breach hyperspace anomalies(bonus points if it's revealed that they were caused by him in the distant past). Also you should make it a mystery, don't drop the details all at once. Have the party skulk around on planet reading holocrons and piecing shit together before the shoe drops.
Bentley Hill
I was going to make it a normal world, just the real threat is someone waking up the sith lords in order to gain their power. So there's one lighting themed sith lord, any ideas for other elemental ones? Fire is an easy one but I'm trying to think up more.
Elijah Green
For a water one, put the prison itself underwater, play up the spookiness in full bioshock fashion.
Plus the overhanging threat that if they really fuck up, the whole temple will collapse and drown them
Evan Thomas
Uranium. A radioactive abomination kept alive by Dark Side shenanigans and Sith alchemy. Visible as both a massive radiation signature and a horrific wound in the Force. Emits lethal radiation, Dark Side vibes, and weird psychic phenomena wherever he goes. Think Nihilus but radioactive and with a dash of Metro 2033/STALKER.
Lucas Johnson
water one could be an aquatic species in a fully submerged underwater structure, force the players to gear up with breathing gear and put them in a scary position if something goes wrong
Jeremiah Sanders
>play up the spookiness in full bioshock fashion.
Reminds me of the underwater level from KOTOR, not nearly as atmospheric as Bioshock but it definitely had that creepy feel
Michael Mitchell
>Find a buddy >He gets carried off by a shark and eaten
Fuck that whole segment.
Nathaniel Long
Water: A Quarren, whose Force abilities are amplified tremendously when affecting water. He's regressed into a shark-like blood frenzy. The PCs of course have to hunt him down in his underwater lair, as and suggested. Refluff all his Force shit to be water-based. Force jumps are rocketing around on waterspouts. Force binding is the freezing of all the water around someone. Force push is a jet of water as if from a fire hose.
Earth: A relatively docile Ithorian. Generally peaceful, in a gentle-giant sort of way, and not particularly interested in standard Sith murder-conquest. When roused, however, his emotions cause devastating earthquakes. He mostly tries unsuccessfully to limit the effect of his powers, and even he doesn't know what his limits are if he were to actually try to push them. A mighty bellow could shatter mountains. Much more of a social/strategic encounter than a boss battle, as this is something the PCs cannot realistically fight.
Joshua Cox
That pic is way more clever than it needs to be. Air Sith who's a member of a species of sapient gas. He wears a containment suit to interact with the ordinary world, but can sift out of it in order to do nasty poison gas shenanigans. Maybe he can spread his essence to temporarily seize control of other people's bodies? He could have a creepy zombie army that he's slowly been assembling in the wilderness of a desolate world. He'd be like an evil Johann Krauss from BPRD.
Landon Reed
I call the big one bitey!

Slow thread today. Anything fun happening in your SW campaigns, gents?
