PCP is what you get at character creation to put into the differant categories in the little table which will then tell you how much arc that translate into for stats, prof or whatever.

Oh and arc is also exp, PCP are just for character creation.

Be a pal and send a screen shot or somethin' would ya.

I can't find it for the life of me (using 2.0)

To add, the only thing on arc points I can see is about the arcs themselves, epic, sage ext ext.

bump

You're on 2.0, right? PCP starts to come into play on page 8, and runs the rest of the way through character creation.

I'll find Arc advancement stuff in a second.

The difference is that if you take PCP you can actually have a fun experience.

...

Thank you

Wait no I am retarded.

All I am reading is this is arc points being REWARDED, what are my starting arc points since they can go into shit like school.

For this for example, to learn the noble school I need to put in at least 5 arc points.

But how can I do this if I have not even played yet?

This gay shit, I don't know where on the table it tells me where my temp arc points are.

They've changed the terminology too many times and forgot to fix all of it. The points on the PCP chart function like Arc for buying stuff at chargen.

So "temp arc points" is the same as PCP?

Thing I don't get how come for schools some have "Cost 5 Arc" and others just have "Cost 5"

Again is it just misspelling?

Yeah, such are the pitfalls of beta releases.

PCP are what you spend to get the temporary arc points, yes.

>PCP are what you spend to get temporary arc points

So, I put lets just say 6 PCP into race deal so I am low noble, is that counted as me spending temp arc points?

The Temporary Arc are in the Attribute, Skills, and Proficiency columns.
If you put 6 PCP into Attributes, you get 35 Temporary Arc to make your stats. 6 PCP into skills nets you 21 Temporary Arc for skills. 6 PCP into Proficiencies gets you 15 Temporary Arc for schools and such.

PCP investment into the other categories/columns gets you more concrete results. 6 PCP in Race allows access to Tier 4 races. 6 PCP in Social Class makes you a Minor Noble with a lot of money.

I really need to remake the character generation tutorial.

Yeah dude I'm getting a lot of mixed messages I don't know what to believe.

Gonna wing it and if the game is shit gonna blame the rules being written eh.

If you can send out a clean reason where PCP turns into 35 Temp Arcs then please post since I can't work that shit out from reading the 2.0 book.

Gimme about 20 minutes and I'll have a (hopefully) comprehensive walkthrough typed up for you.

Look at the table here: The 6 under PCP is in the same row as the 35 under Attributes; you Invest PCP into each other column, and get the same returns. If you put 5 PCP into Attributes, you only get 31 points to allocate to your stats; 4 PCP only gets you 27 etc.

Alright, I'll try to set this walkthrough up now.

so why not call it experience points?

Thank you baby

The exp system is called "Arc" because you get it by following the character's story/character arcs. It's pretty gay but it's one of those narrative things.

when in doubt, game designers should prioritize clarity over thematic names. take it too far and you end up with Gary Gygax' Mythos shudder

Keep in mind that I'm not extremely well versed in 2.0 and this is adapted from an older version, so there may be a few mistakes but it should help out.

Is this an official thread?

Thank you based pasta man.

Sure.

I'll be in the Roll20 if you have more questions.

No, I've been up North seeing the eclipse, we're taking a brief break from threads until things are back in order.

Funny asf questions though.

It sure is dying like one.

So, did you figure things out?

Why would you ever want to figure out game mechanics while on PCP?

I chuckled.

I didn't.
