So is there a list anywhere of all the high level spellcasters in Avistan? I'm trying to compile a list of all the folks who can cast Resurrection because my character's main goal is getting Resurrection cast to bring his son back to life.

>Shelyn will never give you a hug

Literally just go to any largeish city?

I think so, iirc it's in either Inner Sea Magic or some such book

Resurrection is a 7th or 8th level spell. I've looked around for folks who can manage it and everyone in the right level range are the following in Avistan:
>leaders of nations (like High Prophet Kellor)
>leaders of the faith (like the High Priest of Asmodeus)
>monsters (like the Witch Queen of Irisen)

Unfortunately there are not that many people level 13+, and I specifically need one of the following:
>13+ cleric
>14+ oracle
>15+ witch/shaman

And then only the cleric is guaranteed to have what I need. I'm trying to find what cities even have 13th level clerics around because even something like the Hellknight Orders don't have a single one.

d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/settlements/
Read nigger read

Also by Settlement rules even a Metropolis only has 8th level spell casters available for spellcasting services which is not nearly high enough level.

>d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/settlements/
>Spellcasting Unlike magic items, spellcasting for hire is listed separately from the town’s base value, since spellcasting is limited by the level of the available spellcasters in town. This line lists the highest-level spell available for purchase from spellcasters in town. A town’s base spellcasting level depends on its type.

Unfortunately in Golarion this rule doesn't hold at all, settlement rules don't apply to Golarion cities in any of Paizo's writing beyond some base rules on alignment and purchasing limits. Spellcasting limits aren't ever followed.

>monsters (like the Witch Queen of Irisen)
Wot

Those rules are never used for golarion cities. Paizo ignores them.

...

Well, since we played Way of the Wicked, yes. Asmodeus.

>pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Elvanna
Queen Elvanna casts as if she was a level 19 Witch (as a Witch 10/Winter Witch 10). Also as a semi-immortal daughter of the Baba Yaga I would say she does count as a monster.

[Citation Needed]

Look at the image.

Not to mention she is trying to rape existence and dick over her mother among other terrible things.

>Spell is a 7th or 8th level spell
>They go up to 8th level spells
>This is not high enough level
user, are you alright? Is your speech slurred? Do you smell burnt toast?

I'm basing this off of what level they use to determine leaders of nations, leaders of international military orders, etc.

By settlement building rules every major city requires a level 15th or 16th fullcaster residing in it. This would mean Taldor for instance has somewhere in the realm of 20-25 casters of this level who are obscure to the point they are never mentioned in any setting book but are always available to cast spells for you.

I know, I am running Reign. How is she counted as a monster though since Pathfinder doesn't use that term in the metaphorical sense.

I didn't do that you mongoloid.
I don't need to be obnoxious and retarded to win an argument like you.

He's mistaking spell level for caster level.

>pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Elvanna
She's literally human. She's a monster in the figurative sense of the word.
To be fair in PF monster really isn't defined mechanically at all. You have things that have HD determined by class and you have things that aren't.

He was probably thinking monster as in really powerful though.

...

Yes, user, that is literally how it works.

The books do not go through and detail every single crusty-bearded fucking wizard or whatever the fuck, because there NEED TO BE FUCKING ROOM FOR YOUR GM TO MAKE SHIT HIMSELF.

How do you do that?

Like people say you can do shit like this, but I have no idea.

>Starting a new campaign
>Rolled stats almost criminally well, made an Investigator
>Someone else in the group starts to roll a rogue
How do I stop this in the nicest way possible? The session is over but I don't want to come off as "NEHH DON'T PLAY THAT"

>She's literally human. She's a monster in the figurative sense of the word.
That's what I mean, she's a figurative monster, not a literal one.

And I'm saying Paizo has never used their own settlement rules for their cities beyond window dressing. Saying that the world is absolutely full of level 15+ fullcasters and none of them even make a footnote in history is absurd to the point of being comical.

You keep beating as dead horse because you can't disprove it either.
Just stop bring a bitch and get over the fact you were wrong for once in your life.

Or, y'know, it means that the fucking world doesn't try to detail every single goddamn thing in it, because we don't need to know them.

Yes, the world is infact literally full of high level people.

Welcome to why levels are a fucking terrible system.

"Oi m8 ya fucken dumfuk ya don't fuken play a fuken wanka rouge when ah'm playin' a fuken investigata. Ya wan step on me feet, m8? Ya 'avin a giggle at it? I'll nob you in the 'ead with me sturday attack, I swer on me mum".

Otherwise just consider a friendly competition on who can make the higher rolls and see what he focuses while avoiding those skills.

Oh wew.
That is still a dude though.

Just cover different roles in the party. If he's an Unchained Rogue, he'll be better than you at combat almost-certainly (convince him to take up an Elven Curved Blade) and will have access to Rogue Skill Edges, whereas you have alchemy and better "generalistic" skill usage. You're the generalist, he's the specialist. Try convincing him of that.

No, the thing is in a narrative sense a lot of things suddenly stop making sense once we say that these people are around and available.

Most of the AP's narratives fall apart. The entire plot of the World Wound falls apart because the World Wound is literally surrounded by people who can take on Balors. Curse of the Crimson Throne stops making sense once we say there is another level 15+ spellcasters just sitting in Korvosa. A lot of the big threats in the setting and big names SHOULDN'T be big names because they are enormously outclassed by people so obscure they don't deserve mentioning residing in their cities.

I'm saying the issue is that the entire idea of Golarion's narrative for the most part falls apart. Paizo for that reason ignores those rules.

Moreover it means in places like the Crusader Capital there is a level 15+ wizard around who refuses to participate in the World Wound crusade.

Also it says this spellcasting is available, not that such a spellcaster exists, meaning these guys do business constantly.

>mfw GM wants our next campaign to feature the kids of the currant campaign's PCs, since he and the group think a generational timeline is cool
>it's highly likely we'd be fully capable of reaching level 20 by the end of this campaign, even if only as an "after-the-fact" thing from a final encounter
>I'm just sitting here thinking about how the fuck we intend to justify these level 20 world-saving "heroes" not getting heavily involved with what will presumably be another huge, world-altering plot, especially if their own children get tangled up in it
>"they died of age" is bullshit when one will live to be several hundred years old and another will be fully capable of being effectively immortal via crafting with nigh infinite money
>getting killed off by a villain would probably be equally retarded and extremely unsatisfying

After a point you just kinda have to turn off your brain with D&D/Pathfinder setting logic, I guess.

They get absorbed in their own projects.

They aren't aware of the events happening.

They don't personally care, for one reason or another.

They have more pressing matters, personal or otherwise.

They have political or other issues that prevent them from interfering, or there are hefty consequences to them interfering.

They're busy taking care of shit somewhere else. In a world as big and dangerous as pathfinder there are at lease a dozen world ending threats no one knows about going on at any given time.

Also not every campaign needs to have world shattering consequences.

>tfw continually cucked out of campaigns because they die before level 5, go on "hiatus", GM disappears, a player throws a hissy fit and gets you kicked for something minor, or there's just plain no campaigns

It hurts

Storm of Ten Thousand
Knives (Dagger Chant)
Evocation
Level: Gutter Mage 3
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: Standard action
Range: 30 feet
Area: Cone-shaped burst
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Reflex half
Spell Resistance: No
You magically throw a number of daggers
equal to twice your caster level at targets in
a 30-foot cone, dealing 1d4 points of dam-
age with each projectile that hits. (Make a
separate ranged attack roll for each dagger
after specifying which target it is directed
at.) The spell deals no damage to objects.
Because the spell creates and hurls actual
projectiles, spell resistance does not apply.
The daggers are nonmagical for the purpose
of overcoming damage reduction.
Material Component: A dozen knives or
sharp objects (for example, glass shards or
wooden stakes).

Fair enough. The party started pretty normal but by now we're all monsters in all but creature type, so being detached or absorbed in other matters entirely are entirely likely.

>Also not every campaign needs to have world shattering consequences.
I'm assuming it will be on the basis that the GM wanted to do Return of the Runelords, with his usual smaller-than-average party size, to cap off the Runelords trilogy. Despite the fact that our Rise game stalled at the start of book 2 and may never get picked back up.

>Also not every campaign needs to have world shattering consequences.
I think one of the most fun games I've played in was inspired by The Witcher, Mushishi, and had some Ravenloft elements.

We weren't any particularly special people, just a traveling group of mercenaries and problem solvers that could deal with supernatural threats, as well as navigate some political bullshit. The character interactions were the big selling point, and the whole thing felt great.

World-shattering consequences can make for a good story, but if you bring it down to earth, then you can get something incredible out of character interactions.

So I'm running a game for a party of 5 level 7 PCs. The next session will involve at least one of them running an ultra marathon non stop. The problem is that I looked at the rules for overland travel and it is essentially not possible to travel 150 miles non stop. I see that only walking is possible by overland travel. However, it is entirely in the realm of possibility to run 150 miles without stopping. So here is what I'm thinking: Jogging/ hustling for an hour equals 4 miles of travel. After a regular 8 hours of travel, the runner must make a DC 10 Fortitude saving throw. Each additional hour after that raises the DC by 1 (Or 2?). Failure results in 1 point of lethal damage. After each additional hour, the DC increases and the lethal damage doubles. I think I'd require no armor for this sort of thing. Also, this little rule bend may or may not only apply to the session. Can anyone offer a better suggestion or direct me to a rule that would apply? As a little background, I have done distance running for years. It is entirely possible for distance runners to run 100+ miles without stopping. With this in mind, I don't think it would be impossible for a hardened fighter to trek the same distance unburdened by his gear.

>Exponential growth for damage
>Exponential growth each HOUR
Dude, math ain't hard, after the 16th hour the first failed check will immediately render them unconscious, while after the 17th they'll die on the spot

As an Inquisitor of Cayden Cailean, my job is to fight whoever sells bad wine and beer.Oh, slavers too.

They became the villains.

They are busy with multiversal-level threats.

A) Nope. She's kinda doing what she's good at.
B) Freedom to choose.
C) The power of music to move the soul.

I'm a stressed out mess today anons, tell me something to cheer me up

Blood of the Coven finally got released, and Duke's Coin picks are coming soon.

Maybe you'll get picked!

>Blood of the Coven

I read it and didn't like it.

>Duke's Coin

I didn't apply, it didn't look fun :/

We're halfway through the week, so you have the weekend heading your way.

None of my games are playing this weekend.

>Duke's Coin picks are coming soon.
>Maybe you'll get picked!
Nice assumptions there ass. Fuck off with your cutesy "optimistic" bullshit.

It's a break from work, is what I was getting at. Though that assumes some things about you, I suppose.

It is Wednesday my dude. Only two days until you can drink your sorrows away!

How do I make a cleric of IWEMDU, /pfg/?

I know it's a break but I was excited to have weekend games, now I have none, and it's got me feeling down.

I don't drink alcohol. Never did sit well with me.

There's no afterlife

Bad things can happen to you and people around you for no reason at all

You squander your potential on video games and Veeky Forums

You could try a side rp session. Or is it not that kind of group?

News at 11

There hasn't been much opportunity for side RP, unfortunately. I like doing it but not many people have time.

Today on 2hu theater: he tells three of his best friends he wants to murder them for their unbelievable crime of... playing a one-shot without him. He's been yelling about betrayals and conspiracies for almost twelve hours now.

Added bonus lunacy: he created a group in the discord specifically for labelling those whose betrayals are unforgivable, as opposed to merely dire.

Sorry I can't give you more to laugh at, I bailed when he started giving orders.

...Leak-user, why?

>Conspiracies

THEY'RE PUTTING CHEMICALS IN THE WATER TO TURN THE KITSUNE TRAPS GAY

Hmm...

A Grippli cleric, probably with the Artiface(Toil) and Community (Education) domains.

Wait. Who left 2hu's discord the moment this was going down?

>Community (Education)
My duderino.

And here I thought the autist in my group refusing to speak to someone, despite not even remembering why they hated the person, was incomprehensible autism. You're something else, light theme user.

fuck that autist.

That's too bad. I'm stuck running a PFS session this weekend on Roll20, you interested?

Maybe. Is it official PFS or just PFS rules?

Official.

>i caught a fish this big

Aiden is a piece of shit and a huge enabler of 2hu's behavior so he deserves it

I don't know the other two

You are just as bad. You are betraying the trust placed in you as a member of that server.

DHB-kun please, you're not gonna get it done THAT easily. :^)

Can't say I'm interested, sorry.

why do you need to bring up who it is or what they're doing if they remained anonymous

Attention. They can't live without it.

Come on now, you know my catchphrase by now.

struggling to pretend anyone cared about that intrigue game

Can't say I blame you!

I hope you have a good weekend anyway, user.

Yes, because damn I've been just spamming the thread constantly with all the newly produced brew stuff I've made recently, haven't I?

Oh wait.

>"betraying" trust
>as bad as wishing ACTUAL FUCKING MURDER
Fuck that psychopath autist, I'm glad he got kicked from the discord.

I'm on to you, leak-user.

>I would kill you, but that would mean leaving my cave, so instead I'll just wish death upon you

Jesus christ.
2hu, get professional help.

All this does is zero in on who you are, you realize? That it is now much easier to determine who you, the leaker, are, and thus permanently get rid of you from this whole mess?
Go on, keep on truckin'. We know you're in the After Dark, the Main, the Rory, and used to be in the 2hu. That limits the possible culprits pretty fuckin' hard.

Immortal King In Darkness, Red, VoipClock, and Shoka. Those are the four members who are in ALL of those servers.

This is a witch-hunt I'm okay with.

If it's so easy, why haven't you managed it in a year?

Because we haven't had the evidence until now. Now we do; a real witch-hunt isn't built on lies and bullshit, it's built on hard evidence and investigation. You know, scientific-like.

I thought 2hu didn't even like pathfinder.

What about Wist?

What part of "Do not bring Discord discussions into the /pfg/ threads" do you faggots not understand?
