Why do people put things that don't go in the fridge in the fridge?

Why do people put things that don't go in the fridge in the fridge?

Let's take butter, cake and chocolate for example. It drives me nuts when people put them in the fridge.

I keep a few sticks of butter in the fridge because i dont use it very often and its easier to cut in right size chunks

The girls in my house keep nail paint in the fridge. Drives me nuts.

I live on a tropical island in the Pacific, if it doesn't melt, then most likely the humidity will spoil it, if not then the tiny ants that finds it's way to it.

It's a struggling life

PEANUT BUTTER DOESN'T GO IN THERE, FAGS
i put butter in there tho cause i don't use a lot and i worry about it spoiling

man i wish i lived in a tropical paradise

I have a melon in my fridge for 4 months and nows its leaking wtf do I do

Chocolate in the fridge is amazing, fuck you cunt

Marshmallows in the freezer as well

But then the cake will melt

Mayo, mustard, and ketchup don't need to be refrigerated even after opening.

>Let's take butter, cake and chocolate for example. It drives me nuts when people put them in the fridge.
I JUST finished icing a chocolate buttercream cake and popped it in the fridge to set up.

> mayo
Really, shouldnt it contain raw eggs?

Shit peanut butter doesn't go in the fridge.

Good natural stuff does.

What do you think you should do?

I'm worried if I touch it, it will explode

It's a risk you'll have to take. Try rolling it into a container of some sort.

>putting your ketchup in the fridge

It says right on the bottle to refrigerate after opening, baka.

Be sure to wear oven mitts for protection as you do this.

Rubber gloves nigga.

One time I didn't have any gloves so I wrapped my hands in plastic wrap. Worked okay.

>wearing rubber when handling explosive fruit

You are just asking for that shit to melt all over your hands.

What about those vinyl gloves they make?

No. Never.

Enjoy your rancid peanut butter then.

If it's leaking, there is no gas buildup.

What you should be worried about is it breaking apart when you pick it up.

Put a tray under it (e.g. on the rack below) just in case, put on some gloves, then slowly pick it up and move it out of the fridge.

Once it's out and in the open trash bag (don't drop it into a can), you're good. I've created my fair share of horrific science experiments and had to throw them out back in the day. I don't do it anymore since I put in more effort to stay on top of not wasting food.

The tropics are not a paradise

Leave it

No, it does not.
Go back and read it.
It says "for best results, refrigerate". That means it's not required. Ketchup will keep for a month, refrigerated.
Compare to mayo, which doesn't have that "for best results" and only says "refrigerate after opening." Mayo will spoil in a matter of hours.

Just about every fucking diner ever has ketchup and mustard on the tables, at room temperature, for 12+ hours a day. Do you think they'd be allowed to do that if it would spoil?

Sorry, ketchup will keep for a month UNrefrigerated. And a hell of a lot longer refrigerated.

Pizza
If you faggots want to ruin the dough and take all the flavor away from the cheese you dont deserve pizza

Fuck it

With chocolate it depends
In summer they definitely do so it doesnt melt or soften
If small cupboard is full they do bc large cupboards are above stove

If I wait a few years, i will.

When in doubt, put it in the fridge. Also the more a fridge is full, the less power it will consume, that's basic physics.

>butter
easier to cut for cooking

>cake
why would you not? it's got lots of perishables and it just tastes better cold

>chocolate
freezing, break-your-teeth chocolate or gtfo

>pizza
cold pizza best pizza

>eggs in the fridge
don't see any reason to do so, they stay good for a few weeks outside the fridge anyway

Ketchup should be refrigerated to be nice and cool on your hot fries.

I put my chocolate in the freezer, I hate soft warm chocolate.

ketchup

Alright Athelstan, what's your method for making ice shelves?

Who is 'they'?

My gf puts canned goods in the fridge. Like tuna, peeled tomatoes etc. All of my why, every time.

LETS TAKE A POLL. WHO PUTS THERE KETCHUP IN THE FRIDGE?

I CERTAINLY DO. I ENJOY THE CONTRAST OF THE OFTEN HOT (FRIED FOOD) AND THE COLD KETCHUP.

Cold pizza doesn't go into the frige you mongoloid

I live in the desert.

It takes me 4 - 6 months to go through a small jar of Peanut Butter

It doesn't go in the fridge.

It takes me 6 - 8 months to get through a bottle of ketchup

if I leave it out for that long it will go bad.

That's fair, and I actually do the same thing. I wouldn't be able to run through a regular-size bottle in a month.

But by no means is it a requirement, and you shouldn't act like it is.
My best friend's mother threw a shitfit when we left out the ketchup overnight and demanded we throw it out.
>you know you don't have to refrigerate it, right
>YES YOU DO
>here's Heinz saying that you don't have to refrigerate it
>WELL I WOULD FEEL SAFER IF WE JUST THREW IT OUT

>I live in the desert.

Can confirm. Currently living in Dominica.

I put corn chips and bread in the fridge because they last way longer, at least in florida.

Try Costa Rica. Happiest country on the planet

Yeah because who is gonna go though a lb of butter in 3 days...

I put butter in the fridge because my a/c is shit and my house has shit insulation so it's usually 90+ยบ and the butter would just melt.

>at least in florida

The humidity can make anything go bad, it's bonkers

The wizards.

chilled chocolate >>>>> room temp chocolate

If the place other people put their coffee drives you crazy...then you have a problem my fellow Op..you might need some professional help.

It goes hard you plonker

Not the kind of cake they put in the fridge, if it's chocolate then maybe but I put it in a case

That's what she said

>they stay good for a few weeks outside the fridge anyway
Not in the US. Here, eggs are washed, which removes a membrane that keeps bacteria away. If you don't refrigerate a washed egg, they will go bad pretty quickly.

I put bananas in the fridge because I like them cold. Fight me.

Please enlighten us, why do your eggs need to be washed?

Yeah, I'm kinda the same way. I like temperature differences pretty much always.

INDEED. ITS THE CONTRAST. I ASSUME YOU PROBABLY ENJOY A LITTLE TEXTURAL VARIETY IN GENERAL? A LITTLE CRUNCH IN YOUR SANDWICH PERHAPS?

Big Egg washes them so they go bad quicker and people have to buy more. Drives up demand for their product.

Such is life in Trump's "America."

Yeah, I've always been the type to put chips on sandwiches and stuff. It's pretty good. Hot fries go good with cold milkshake, too.

I put dry pasta and bread in the fridge.

EXCELLENT TASTE MY MAIN MAN

Because Americans are litterally children and they don't want to eat a squicky brown egg because it reminds them of birdie poop.
