Invention or Discovery?
Mathematics
Mathematical concepts were discovered, Mathematical notation was invented.
what if neither the terms invention or discovered are accurate/sufficient descriptions. lets analyze this in the analytical tradition
how can you say discovered when nothing is mind-independent?
discoveries of the mind
axioms are invention, their logical consequences are discovery
I'm not smart enough to discuss that, so I'm just gonna let this guy argue for me.
Good luck.
but even those are theory-laden. objectivity is impossible.
Hah
This
I realized that math was made up bullshit when I learned about negative numbers
only true answer
You can prove mathematical equations in reality
Because debt and deficit totally aren't real things, right?
>economics is science
Heh meme

Is math an emergent feature of (the nature of)nature?
Thats what it is right? Makes sense?
...
Dafuq?
If we invented it we could've set pi=700 and circles would all be fucking huge.
t. never read an actual econ paper
Hahaha
Correct
this picture has always really fucked with me, more than any uncanny valley shit ive seen. Something about it is just inherently wrong
Both.
Algebra was invented, and from it Calculus was discovered.
she knows
It's an invention you fucking brainlets
It's based on axioms
Neither. Math is a delusion of the mostly autistic human race. It was neither invented or discovered because it's not real. 0=infinity
A bit of both.
You discover an observation, you then invent the method to measure it.
>Pic is the man who beat Newton and Leibniz to it.
didn't.
He did.
...
Prove it.
language
It is both at the same time.
Axioms are motivated by the discoveries.
