While doing dishes at 4AM, I thought of this drug and tossed it together in Photoshop.
Is something like this possible? If it is, does something like this exist? If it doesn't exist, why the fuck not?
Sedative and melatonin to put me to sleep and keep me to sleep.
A delay (Probably doesn't work this way...) to keep the caffeine out of my system during my sleep.
Caffeine begins release shortly before I wake up.
NADH...I don't know anything about this, but it supposedly helps with alertness and energy in the morning. My biggest problem waking up is that I'm too groggy and disoriented to remember why I want to wake up and I convince myself it's okay to sleep.
maybe take Xanax, wait a little while and toss in vyvanse right before bed, but only the lis-dextroamphetamine(slow release dextro) parts of it or just the slow release parts of concerta(Ritalin) which would be esier because concerta is a layered, pressed pill and vyvanse is mixed beads in a capsule. maybe you can also put the stimulant inside of something that will take a while to digest, and idk about methlphenidate but if you are using amphetamines I know for a fact that an acidic stomach ph will metabolize it slower. or you know maybe an alarm clock next to a timed coffee maker? with a line of coke on top of it ive had success with that method
Bentley Moore
Why not just buy a coffee maker that you can set a timer on and have a nice hot cup of joe waiting for you when you wake up? Your big problem with making a caffine delay is that in 8 hours its already been mostly digested. Time release just means it doesn't all dissolve at once, but you're getting an uptake of the chemical as soon as your gut juices dissolve the outer layer of the pill.
Evan Lewis
If you're asking about layers. Yes. There are quite a few time release layered opiates on the market.
Your hypothetical pill has to have its layers survive digestive acids across time. You're balancing a lot of chemical interactions occurring in the body.
Your hypothetical pill could exist I think, as you described it.
Neat idea.
William Carter
Sure this might work... but you are over engineering a solution to a non existent problem. Why do you need caffeine to wake you up? just use an alarm clock? Or just stop being a degenerate loser and fix your sleep habits
Samuel Stewart
Something like that would be easy to manufacture with today's pharmaceutics but no one would waste their time and resources manufacturing something like that. The market would be tiny and the benefits of the drug would be insignificant, if it even worked at all. Caffeine is not really known as a potent "waking agent".
Benjamin Harris
Stealing this idea.
Lucas Martin
Why do people drink it to feel more awake?
Caleb Gray
Placebo? Maybe the higher caffeine content? I’m no doctor but I assume those two
Justin Sanders
youre retarded user, if this pill existed and worked as advertised re you never wake up feeling like you want to kill yourself people would pay vast sums
Bentley Russell
Yes it is you dolt, caffeine is extremely effective in delaying the physiological effect of drowsiness by blocking adenosine receptors.
Ryder Bennett
So what does it actually do?
Jaxon Green
I wake up an hour early, take 2.5mg of Adderall IR, then go back to bed for an hour. You will wake up bursting with energy. Never experienced anything like it before.
Ethan Hughes
>designing drugs in fucking Photoshop
Mason Roberts
The first time, yeah. But then you get tolerant and your A2 receptors upregulate until all it does is bring you back to normal.
Julian Hernandez
Not OP but you gave me an idea. Feel free to steal it, just put it on market on a price I can afford.
It's a lucid Dream Pill. Melatonin with delayed choline/galantamine. The melatonin prevents REM sleep, but only lasts a few hours. After several hours of sleeping with no REM your brain does a REM rebound where it has longer more active REM cycle. At about this time the delayed choline/galantamine activates. Both these also stimulate REM sleep even further. Normally you'd have to wake up in the middle of the night to pop those if you wanted LUCID dreams but having it delayed means 1 pill before bedtime is all you need.
How do I make delayed action pills? I wanna try this.

Pharmaceutical scientist here.
Making such a tablet has limited merit. There are many formulations with multiple layers, but not this level of complexity.
The first layer could work by making the second layer resistant to acid attack, thereby the sedative/melatonin combination would dissolve rapidly, and then stop at the second layer, but the problem you run into is digestion. The tablet is going to get passed into the intestine, where the relatively alkaline conditions will dissolve away the second/third/fourth layers. If you make the second layer insoluble then you can't expose the third/forth layers to dissolution and you lose the effect of the tablet.
You also still have to contend with digestion as the body will continue to pass the tablet, and will eventually excrete is as an undigested tablet.
Unfortunately acid/base is the most effective dissolution gating mechanism that can be used by the body, and can only really be used one time since there is only a single significant pH gradient in the digestive tract (between stomach and intestine).
If you wanted to be sci-fi about it you could imagine a scenario where the gut biome was used and the second layer of the tablet was dissolved away by microbes (E. coli for instance) in the gut, but in practical terms this is unfeasible in a greater population as the gut biome of individuals in a population can vary wildly. Even different strains of E. coli exist in different individuals and would result in different dissolution properties.
tl;dr - concept is unfeasible.
Cooper Hall
lol, but it's a good idea
Easton White
This would completely fuck up the natural hormones in your body that wake you up and get you alert. The second the caffeine doesn't work anymore you will get double fucked.
Joseph Wright
>needing medication to sleep and caffeine to stay awake
Jaxson Cook
its an insane stupid idea of course the fucking pharma niggers aren’t even mentioning how dangerous it is to mix a depressant and a stimulant together like that
Colton Cruz
>preventing REM sleep
you'd be better off marketing it as a suicide pill.
Wyatt Richardson
It makes you more alert 4 hours after drinking it.
Blake Mitchell
melatonin is pretty damn safe, desu It's more accurate to say it supresses REM, not blocks. And only a very short time. Melatonin has a pretty short half life.
Blake Walker
>Pharmaceutical scientist here.
How close are we to a medical 3d printer than makes customized pharmaceuticals in home? Are you worried about this happening?
They're addicted to a stimulant that is widely available and associated with wakefulness?
Dominic Davis
It exists already. Most antihistamine drugs people take for colds have caffeine to prevent you from falling asleep
Carson Nelson
I was prescribed Modafinil by a sleep specialist doctor actually One thing he said, to aid wakefulness, was: drink a cup of coffee, then fall asleep asap When you wake up, you'll have a bunch of energy
