I always buy chunky as that's what I prefer. However, I will admit that the best method has to be buying creamy and a bag of shelled peanuts, stirring in the appropriate amount of pieces for the given occasion.

Crunchy peanut butter is better eaten just by itself while creamy peanutbutter goes nicely with a lot of things

Creamy because you can just mix some peanuts into it and then it's the same as crunchy. You're really paying more for the process than the peanuts so you might as well get more creamy and then make it crunchy yourself.
