You might not solve definitively the problem, but you can't deny the fact that you would objectively save and improve lives. Real lives, of real people: in this case, children.

As far as the value and meaning of college degrees go, things changed a lot since 1990.

it's because they live in a nightmarish bureaucratic state where having the requisite degrees is the only possibly way to get a job doing anything, but once you have the job you can be completely incompetent, so they spend the first decades of life feverishly memorizing, then the rest of life sucking off a giant bureaucratic titty, which results in, as all can see, third world conditions.
