As a white author, am I allowed to use the word "nigger" in my writing?

As a white author, am I allowed to use the word "nigger" in my writing?

What if the character I have saying "nigger" is black?

There are no set rules. You just have to find out. You can probably get away with it if nobody reads your book, so you're ok.

>Being scared to say a word

This is the correct answer, and as no one will read your book. But don't get hung up on it - just write nigger as a placeholder and if you feel uneasy about it, remove it.

However, there have been enough white authors who have used the word nigger in their writings in a non-racialist context. Then again, we live in different times - so what do I know?

ayo whiteboi hop off. that's OUR word.

I prefer pavement ape personally

There are people out there getting punched for saying words

Porch Monkey is a thousand times better than that

Does Spencer really say nigger that much? I imagine he backs off from it just to avoid the unnecessary controversy.

>There are people out there getting punched for saying words
It's almost like they're wilfully misinterpreting what context is.

nigger or nigga?

Then the people throwing the punches are trying to suppress free speech and should be lynched for their degeneracy

>he doesnt know what free speech under the first amendment actually means

What is Dan Gheesling doing on MY Veeky Forums

acquiescing this thread

didn't lionel shriver get into some shit flinging contest recently for doing something like this

Point A: Having characters say nigger or nigga is realistic dialogue, for a lot of people at least.

Point B: If leftists read your book they will be offended possibly

If I can read a word and not be taken out of the story (as in it fits contextually and isnt some shoehorned shit) then its fine

Any opinion differing from mine is r/donald 13 year olds egging you on to put edgy shit in your book or lefty punanis who would censor art if it hurt their feelings

bugs...easy on the carats

>some white dude thinks that multiculturalism and diversity maybe aren't like the best things ever

Oh no, it's the fucking holocaust all over again!

You're not allowed to write, period, shitlord.

why do you want so badly to use that word?

Why do people get so ornery about the word "nigger"? Sincerely asking for all you Americans.

Between black people who act like it's the ultimate insult to white people who never miss a chance to get offended on a black person's behalf to edgy kids who seem like they get a boner from saying it profusely I don't get the hype.

lol, fucking stop me, nigger

Social media witch hunts feel good. Saying the word "nigger" is sort of the social equivalent of acquiescing to a rape, or knowingly picking a fight, but only if you're white.

It's turbo racism all the way down, on all sides, and it stems from a desire to hurt someone and feel justified in doing so.

Free speech is a spook.

It's some deep scars in american history and culture, the most brutal and terrible conflict in our country's history was over the ownership and subjugation of human beings. The N word is essentially "you will never be a free person if I have anything to literally say about it," it's a reminder that after 150 years an individual with social prestige will still never accept a black man as a man not beholden to masters. It is deeply American, yes.

>the most brutal and terrible conflict in our country's history was over the ownership and subjugation of human beings
>he still believes that the civil war was because of slavery
Look at this fucking brainlet.

you can't possibly take the states rights argument because the states rights issue was literally we want to own humans, even if it bankrupts our states and punishes our lower classes.
