Most Unforgivable Nobel Snubs: BOYCOTT NOBEL

How can anyone take such a committee seriously when failing to recognize the greatest writers of all time.
>Proust
>Joyce
>Tolstoy
>Borges
>Chekhov
>Ibsen
>Pound
>Twain
>Pynchon
>Kafka
>Morrissey
>Woolf
>Nabokov

Disgusting. This is unforgivable. This is almost a list of the best writers of all time yet the Nobel committee failed to acknowledge them. They're no better than Ranker.com lists. If anyone on this board takes this committee even remotely seriously you should stick a fire hose up your orifice that would cause maximum discomfort (I'd say the anus but some of you faggots would probably enjoy that) and turn it on.

Nabokov won though

No he didn't he was fucking snubbed.

No he didn't. Lost to two Swedish writers who were on the Nobel Committee (shocking) in 1974

Rightfully so. Same with Pynchon. They wrote degenerate literature

>getting upset about award shows

Are you still fuming that How Green Was My Valley won the 1941 Best Picture Oscar over Citizen Kane?

Yes

You're entitled to your opinion, I respect that, you can say whatever you want. But just know that you are a fucking imbecile who should squirt a turkey baster full of gasoline up your urethra and then light a match up to your dickhole

You need to reassess your artistic priorities

You took it seriously enough to write this shitty thread, you're the attention they need

"Although selected by the Pulitzer Prize jury on fiction for the 1974 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the Pulitzer Advisory Board was offended by its content, some of which was described as "'unreadable,' 'turgid,' 'overwritten' and in parts 'obscene'". No Pulitzer Prize was awarded for fiction that year"

Pynchon BTFO

>being offended by a curse word

faggots

It's moments like these that make my faith in Veeky Forums propping up DFW's room-temperature corpse as a joke waver. Whoever made this image wasn't trolling and actually thinks he was deserving of a nobel.

Mahfouz deserved his win

>whoever made this image wasn't trolling

do you know where you are?

>Nobel prize isn't worth paying attention to
>Pays attention to Nobel prize
Obama got a Nobel piece prize, Gandhi didn't. It's just bourgeois rubbish that you need to start ignoring.

Artistic awards have always been a joke; no one "deserves" a nobel, just like no one "deserves" the Palme d'Or. Even the lowliest of patricians recognize this:
>On the other hand I am never happy, when anyone talks with me about FESTIVALS and I am especially sorry, that "JUNGFRUKÄLLAN" is going to be shown at the Festival of Cannes. I am afraid and I have a certain feeling about unpleasant surprises as "JUNGFRUKÄLLAN" together with "SOMMARLEK" is that one of my pictures I love most.

>I would have liked very much to talk about Mr. Sjöström in connection with the performance of his films, if it hadn't been in Cannes. But I hate that place of meat market and mental humiliation.

>At a festival you can really dispair of the motion picture as an art.

-Bergman, 1960

>not trolling
>morrissey
>shakespeare, milton and homer before the prize existed

Um we're /neosincere/ here. Please don't assume trolling here at all. It's very insulting to our creedo

I call on all of Veeky Forums to spam the Nobel Committee for Literature with unpleasant comments on all social media

#sexismagainstyokoogawa #giveyokoherprize
make it trending

>BOYCOTT NOBEL
Been doing that since Kissinger won the Peace Prize.

The peace prize has nearly always been a travesty. So many of those awarded should be tried for war crimes.

I had some faith in the other prizes though. I've lost faith in the literature prize now. I only care about medicine/physiology, physics, and chemistry now.

This is worse than caring about the Oscars because at least the Oscars is an event in the media capital of the world with hundreds of celebrities in attendance.

Laureats need to be alive. Posts people who died long before the invention of Dynamite.

You know that the prize can only be given to living artists, right?

Also:
>No one can get the prize without being on the list at least twice, thus many of the same authors reappear and are reviewed repeatedly over the years

I mean, right off the bat, Homer, Milton, Shakespeare, and Dickens can be struck off your list.

If DFW didn't off himself, finished Pale King, and maybe wrote another work or two, he could had a shot against Bob Dylan.

(After all, the committee clearly doesn't want to double up on certain locales multiple times. Otherwise, America, (Britain?), France, Germany, and Russia would clean up every year. The fact that Mishima was passed off helped motivate his coupe, because he figured they wouldn't give it to another Japanese individual for awhile.)

>westerners
>tried for war crimes

nabokov is trash

>Best writers
>Morrissey
Whatever, he would still be a better option.

does this guy always look tortured

Most of those writers are dead

I'm pretty sure it was the scat porn scene

Proust and Kafka died relatively young and before their reputations had really spread, and Kafka's best stuff was published posthumously. Joyce only did a few books, one of them pegged as a "dirty" book, the other often considered incomprehensible. Pound was was politically impossible (whatever you think of his views, he just wasn't going to happen). Snubbing Tolstoy, Woolf, and Borges were obviously massive fuck-ups. Lolita was also considered too "dirty," I'd guess, so Nabokov wasn't going to happen. Chekhov died three years after the first prize was awarded, Ibsen five years after. They're not giving it to a "recluse" like Pynchon, and after the Dylan messMorrisey won't happen.

sorry for the typos

You're a pleb. John Ford is great

>using "obscene" as criticism
And there are still people who care about all these awards.

There is literally zero difference between posts like this and sweaty video game nerds whining about IGN or whatever

>Milton
>Dickens
>Twain
>Shakespeare
>Homer
...all died before the award was established. They only give it to living writers.

his pain is proportionate to the lack of discernible talent

>putting Twain, Pynchon, and Woolf on a list with all those other actually talented writers
lmao

>degenerate

Those are sophomore excuses for the most prestigious award humanity can offer

Borges is the only tragedy there

What happened to the Nobel?

Is this that Bob Dylan thing again?

middle tier british/japanese guy got it
not as bad as nobel but still meh

Wow, I assumed there was some classical genius who had slipped under my radar, but this guy is talking about "the moz"? I hear his one work of fiction is delightfully awful.
