The Cantos by Ezra Poumd

What's your definition of epic poetry, user?

I suppose it's a matter of a protagonist going on a journey in a long poem with somewhat regular meter. As far as examples go, all the classic ones are allowed, from Homer to Dante to Byron.

And, huh, I just realized that going by this definition Satan is the hero of Paradise Lost. Blake was right after all.

Aniara by Harry Martinson

He is the anti-hero.
Try Nikos Kazantzakis, Ive never read his epic, but it fits your definition

My diary desu

I dont know about epic per say but my poetry has been referred to as ebin on multiple occasions that I can recall off hand

Ebin comment

ebin

thanks guys, I unironically appreciate it, some times some flattering praise is good for the soul, like chicken soup, and such

The Changing Light at Sandover is fantastic and probably not what you're looking for.

The Cantos
Paterson
The Maximus Poems
Omeros
The Battlefield Where the Moon Says I Love You
"A" (Louis Zukofsky)
Gunslinger
Ark (Ronald Johnson)
The Changing Light at Sandover

Not written in the last 100 years, but The Mountain Wreath (1847) is good. Pretty much Serbia/ stronk/remove kebab memes in the 19th century.

>he thinks poetry is still relevant

>he still thinks 'relevant' is relevant.

was it replaced by your plebshit movies?

The play HAMILTON is pretty good.

The Waste Land or the Cantos

The Waste Land is not an epic poem.
Cantos are ''''epic''''' but not epic.

Omeros by the divine Derek Walcott.

yeah the one im working on atm tbqh

Frick da Police by Ricegum

>epic poetry

Blockbusters are modern epic poetry.

>Cantos are ''''epic''''' but not epic.

What the fuck does that even mean

Omeros by Derek Walcott was brilliant

what's it about

Get a load of this pleb

Someone should write an epic poem about the journey of the modem hero Donald Trump

Derek Walcott's Omeros is awesome

>he fell for the Ezra Meme

Homer wannabes need not apply

forgot to link you too

We don't need epic poetry anymore, user.

Not in epic format anymore, but originally it was:
>released ~1992
It's connected with the epics, the Book of the Silver Bough is The Book of Apollos Followers, Hurmanatar is the Red Hero (Vedas bad guy).

The Anathemata and In Parenthesis.

bump for recs

Neat

Si sta come d'autunno sugli alberi le foglie

There's my epic poem adaptation of tails gets trolled. I don't know if it's true but people tell me I'm some sort of savant

t. Rupi Kaur fanboy

le ezra sucks because he was a fascist xD

Nobody cares about poetry anymore except dirty indians

this is why they are taking over

Something to ponder: is epic poetry, written today, inherently fascist?

Ezra sucks because he wrote retarded Rupi Kaur-tier garbage that only a modernist could even call "poetry."

derek walcott omeros

In Parentheses and The Anathemata by David Jones

Well, if you say so, then I guess it's true.

Epic =/= patriotic

Is there a decent English translation?
>t. Serbian Anglophone pleb
