Crunches actually lift you using your abs.

Okay man so originally I wrote a couple sentences berating you but I realize that you at least try to exercise and I want to nourish this. Sit-ups work and they're hard for most people, like pull-ups. You can and should do butterfly sit-ups as a male, as our hip flexor groups don't allow for as much movement as the knees-together sit-up allows.

You're right, the sit-up (of old) places undeserved stress on the hips, especially for a runner, but it builds abs big time.

I have very defined abs, very strong muscles because I perform hundreds of motions per week that fully flex, extend, contract and expand all of my abdominals and obliques.

Crunches are better than being sedentary, but ultimately you're robbing yourself because you refuse to face pain. Your vertebrae will cash the check that you write when jerking repetitively without carrying the spine with the muscles throughout the movement.

I'm more muscular and fit than you and I won't ever post my pic on this site. Just know, with many sit-ups, pull-ups, Russian twists, distance running and HIIT, you can have those magazine abs. Just gotta want it. So don't tell me no, lol
