>When, long ago, the gods created Earth
>In Jove's fair image Man was shaped at birth.
>The beasts for lesser parts were next designed;
>Yet were they too remote from humankind.
>To fill the gap, and join the rest to Man,
>Th'Olympian host conceiv'd a clever plan.
>A beast they wrought, in semi-human figure,
>Filled it with vice, and called the thing a Nigger.

Shadow over Innsmouth is my favorite

The Colour out of Space is my personal favorite, I think it's his most original and interesting story.

Also Pickman's Gallery is very underrated. I love the literal embodiment of what inspire's wickedness in creativity as these vile creatures who dwell in the shadows of Earth. The artist attempts to harness this. Very very short too

>lovecraft
>patrician

nice try reddit

The Whisperer in Darkness.

The build up of the story is done through a correspondence of letters. It is an extremely interesting plot development process.

The Outsider
>tfw no deep one gf

you can have one of these

>good taste/10

The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath

Music of Erich Zann

The Horror at Red Hook

The Silver Key

is this real

Lovecraft was haunted by any-and-everything he did not or could not know, even if it was another person, and given his social context, this is not surprising at all.

We can look at the habits of old and think they are absurd but we can't look at the people of old and expect them to have this same view we are able to have today; the conditions (and it can be argued if these conditions are good or bad, but I'm not doing so) just weren't there.

??

Read it first, stupid.

Pickman's gallery is really memorable.

Rats in the Walls.

>I'm a Nazi apologist

this is my absolute favorite

The story entitled He, literally the embodiment of the answer to OP's question

The Shadow Over Innsmouth
I loved Dream Quest, but apparently Lovecraft thought it was "a Dunsay hackjob"

I also enjoy Dream Quest. Apparently Lovecraft almost burned the manuscript because he hated it so much.

Plebbit spacing: check; "le man of his time" meme: check; kill yourself you fucking faggot.

Lovecraft is read by geeky girls

Your IQ is beyond our comprehension, sir.

This is an 18+ board

not really
they like to have the book on the shelf because Cthulhu is popular but the second they see nigger they stop reading.

Lovecraft's ideas on race where controversial even among some of his most dedicated readers. While I agree in general, still important to not his ideals weren't wholly of their time either.

His stories are doody. Nemesis is his best poem.

>The Shadow Over Innsmouth
My man

The Street.

Claiming Big L's race ideas are controversial is like claiming that your pasty ass isn't afraid going through wetback / nog area at night.

Or that you like looking at groups of arabs in european cities at every corner.

The Hauner In The Dark is the spoopiest

Rats in the wall, because it has the best climax.

>expect them to have this same view we are able to have today
speak for yourself, I say Lovecraft was right then and is right now

>The transition of Juan Romero
>The very old folk

I really like there two for some readon. Brief but powerful.

Is what real? Define "this."
