I'm a Christian. Should I read Zizek?

you shouldn't, regardless

No, watch him instead. Even he says you shouldnt read his works.

*sniffs*

Why?

Sublime Object of Ideology is mumbo jumbo to me, but I'm gonna read Hegel, Marx and Laclau, and come back to him afterwards.

It amazes me how much he looks like a muppet.

I knew a girl in college that was into Zizek for whatever reason. Last I saw she was hanging out with a tranny and changed her name.

A German worker gets a job in Siberia; aware of how all mail will be read by censors, he tells his friends: “Let’s establish a code: if a letter you will get from me is written in ordinary blue ink, it is true; if it is written in red ink, it is false.” After a month, his friends get the first letter, written in blue ink: “Everything is wonderful here: stores are full, food is abundant, apartments are large and properly heated, movie theaters show films from the West, there are many beautiful girls ready for an affair—the only thing unavailable is red ink.”

I am not a Christian. Should I read St Augustine?

I don't see why not, Zizek is a Crypto-Christofascist.

>girl
not really zizek's problem, girls don't actually read or care about the names they latch their public images to.

not defending zizek, I think his plastic vagina is top tier.

"Christianity is too important to be left to the Christians"
-Zizek

Zizek is OK because he genuinely wants revolution and he understands it will be a real revolution of the spirit, because he understands Marx through Hegel, and knows that the transition from capitalism to true socialism will be something like what 20th century humanist egalitarianism looks like to an ancient Mesopotamian, not some paltry political program or autistic college tankie nightmare dystopia where if only we could just totalitarianly socially engineer everyone in a giant race-mixing panopticon fuckfest, then cybernetically modified trannies would have perfect extendo-clits and we'd be live in utopian harmony

Yes. He's comfy as fuck.
Zizek is very hit or miss. His work on christianity is pretty much unreadable.

Even half of his good stuff is literally just copy and pasted from his good stuff he wrote 20 years ago, he recycles A LOT.

What do you recommend to read?

No one should.

Marxist Lacanians are Catholics in denial.

This guy gets it.
