Catcher in the Rye blew my mind and made me realize how stupid people are

>Catcher in the Rye blew my mind and made me realize how stupid people are

I've several years of experience with people and don't need a book for that

>Catcher in the Rye blew my mind and made me realize how stupid I am

>Catcher in the Rye blew my mind and made me realize how stupid high school was

>Catcher in the Rye made me stupid

>The Catcher in the Rye blew me just like Phoebe blew him.

>Catcher in the Rye made me blow my brains out

>The Catcher in the Rye made me eat only Rye toast, and become a powerbottom.

>Catcher in the Rye made me murder John Lennon

>Catcher in the Rye made me want to wear knitwear and write books

>Catcher in the Rye made me blow some stupid people

The Catcher in the Rye made be beat the phony bastard crap outta my elevator attendant/doorman.

>Catcher in the Rye made me pop dat collar

>Catcher in the Rye made me buy sex for five dollars

Is this the first true example of enlightened 21st century poetry?

This. I remember feeling that way about myself in high school and deciding that J.D. Salinger was just giving a big middle finger to my entire demographic.

>catcher in the rye made me write fuck on walls

Holden was like a buddy I needed. He made me feel like I wasn't the only whiny, scared kid who noticed how stupid the world is sometimes.

I say they should keep assigning it to high schoolers. A lot of them will like it.

>When he acts like a hard ass then won't stand up to the pimp.

Fucking lul'd.

It's easy to hate (I think it's horribly overrated), but it's short and entertaining so what's not to love. I kind of laughed when Clanton (Carlyle?) or whatever his name was joked about how seriously his high school took the rivalry football game and the students were going to have to commit seppuku if they lost.

RIP Salinger.

>the catcher in the rye made me realise I was being a teenager wrong

>It's easy to hate (I think it's horribly overrated), but it's short and entertaining so what's not to love.

its horrible jewish/french nihilism. it has the value of scat porn.

>french nihilism

The story is surprisingly hopeful if you read the book and the narrator(Holden months after the events of the book) understands his fear of adulthood. It has absolutely nothing to do with an overall creation of values, where did you get this idea from?
