The Bell Curve was never discredited and it's not racist. The author's premise was that the cognitive elite, the most intelligent people, would dominate society when demographic barriers like race and gender were removed. If anything it's anti-racist.

Pretty much any philosophy or political science book will attempt to persuade you into thinking something, although they "persuade" you with logical appeals. Could you be more specific as to what you're looking for?

I'm not looking for any genre or the way the author tries to persuade you into thinking a new position on a certain subject (via logos, pathos, ethos, other Rhetorical Devices). Honestly I'm just interested in any book that tries to persuade the reader.

You mentioned Philosophy or Political Science; If you have book recommendations that are in these genre ranges then I'd be interested in hearing the titles.

Well, in political theory there's the classic Leviathan, by Thomas Hobbes. It argues for the necessity of the state. If you're a Christian, he argues specifically from Scripture in the third section of the book.

In Philosophy I just read Critique of Pure Reason by Kant, in which he outlines a system of how our brains work, to put it very simply.

For that second book the point which he argues the entire book is that Reason has its limits, and that going outside of those limits leads us into unresolvable questions.
