Is the "A Very Short Introduction" series good to read before diving into a main series, such as Aristotle, Foucault, Capitalism, Anarchism, and whatever else?

>is the cutesy little books with a few dozen pages a good introduction to some of the most important people and ideas in western civilization
please don't be this pants on head retarded
tell me what you want to be introduced to and I'll recommend some real books

Not OP but cynic philosophy.

Not OP, but I am especially interested in:
1. The history of economic ideas, especially after Smith
2. The intellectual history of Reformation

Not OP, but I'd like source for OPs image.

Yes, because they good you a good idea of what texts to read in which order. That's what they're for. They're not supposed to make you an expert, as seems to believe.

Nope, the Very Short Introductions books are great for beginners and this was recommended by me by an Oxford professor out of which I have the utmost respect for.

Those 'real books' you're talking about are good for after one gets familiarized with said philosopher. Other good 'introductory' books are the Cambridge Companions, evne though they are a little more advanced.

Diogenes the Cynic Sayings and Anecdotes with Other Popular Moralists, Oxford

1- Douglas Irwin, Against the Tide: An Intellectual History of Free Trade
Angus Maddison, Contours of the World Economy 1-2030 AD: Essays in Macro-Economic History (particularly part 2 and 3)
Milgate & Stimson, After Adam Smith: A Century of Transformation in Politics and Political Economy

2- Justo L. Gonzalez, The Story of Christianity Vols 1 & 2
Diarmaid MacCulloch, All Things Made New: The Reformation and Its Legacy
Matthew Barrett, Reformation Theology: A Systematic Summary
Jaroslav Pelikan, The Christian Tradition: A History of the Development of Doctrine, Vols 3 & 4

The one on information is absolutely trash.
I have met Florido personally, and he himself said that he wasn't sure that it is worth reading.

Thanks a lot!

Could you also recommend something on the history of humanism/human rights and some contemporary philosophers, which, from your point of view, explain the current World best.

Thanks, this is pretty much why I want to read them. To write down what they discuss, and then move up from there.

Do you have a weird facial expression fetish or something

Stop responding to faggots that manipulate you with pics of e-whores into a reply, you are enticing them to do this more and more and you're detracting from what worth the site has left

Depends on the author of the "very short intro".

Some of them are really good, while others are really bad.

...

Is Goodreads a good indication of the good ones?

Not necessarily.
I'd check Goodreads for the intro book, but I'd also check to see what people are saying about other books the author has written in the field in question.

Does it surprise you? He posted a picture of a child, so literal children have to respond. What did you expect

Kek, I bet he got all those from some Syllabus the searched on Google.
